GT500 needs driver mod. Everytime it started to pull the GT500's lousy slow and short shifting killed it's own pull.

i like both but my thoughts is the Shelby need a driver

People get in these comments to talk shit about ford, lol camaro dosnt have a legacy like Shelby dose, the new camaro along with every other car is a computer that you just sit it, this Shelby is 9 years old and with bolt ons alone is an easy 800hp, and if this camaro went against a 2013-14 Shelby stock would crush it.

Gt500 - 662 HP @ 6500 (less torq) 0-60 3.5 1/4 11.6 ZL1 - 650 @ 6400 (Smaller power band) 0-60 3.5 1/4 12.2 Both quicker than a dumb fatcat Challenger. But there is a little blonde gal here who owns a Roush stage 3 and will wreck you both. I go at it with her in my Saleen.

That's funny considering my brother's GT500 is a 2007 and hits 80 in second gear. Either the guy doesn't know how to drive or he isn't even trying.

interceptereater yeah, mine gets to just over 120mph in 3rd gear. you can hear the hesitation of the Shelby driver, that Eaton supercharger should be screaming, but instead it's whimpering and softly whining and it takes him a long time to shift. the supercharger is a dead give away. if you're 100% on the gas, that bitch should be screaming like crazy

GT500 driver was probably shifting at less than 6000 rpm. Every vid he starts reeling the Camaro in then get killed on the upshift when it falls out of the powerband. He's short shifting bad. Had the GT500 just shifted @ 6300-6600 he would have walked right past the Camaro, even with his slow shifting.

Good races guys, put a smaller pully and a quick tune on that 500 and it gain close to 100hp all for about 600 bucks, I'm surprised there is even any gt500s out there without this mod, it's almost free hp

Looks like Sunday drive, my shelby front nose pulls up when running hard. Especially when SC kicks in

If you're running hard (wide open throttle) the supercharger is always "kicked in" on these cars lol. When you're full throttle it's making a decent amount of boost even down low that is what makes these positive displacement blowers so fun they literally feel like an na setup you don't feel the blower kick in.

Pretty good for that GT500, considering its 9 years the elder of the Camaro ss and about 200 lbs. heavier.

6th gen is the car to beat stock now until you get into hellcat or viper level of American muscle. Nice runs!

@@yeezus850 the 10r80 5.0 has run 11.8 stock at like 119. It is indeed a tad faster than the camaro.

Shelby pulls in higher gears when not in the process shifting, because it most likely has 3.31 gears from the factory. A set of 3.73 gears and driver that shifts faster will make all the difference needed to quickly walk the camaro.

Need a rematch ! And a new driver for the Gt500 !! Mustang should have Won !! Fixed !!

07 was 550ish hp I think, still a very nice kill for an N/A vs SC’d car, just shows how much better 6 Gen is than 5th Gen

Andrea Bernal It's still a standard car. The SS competes with the GT, which it stomps. It's the cheapest V-8 Camaro. The Shelby competes with the ZL1. Don't understand car classes do you?

Weird. I ran an auto cammed SS in my stock 07 GT500 and won by a decent amount.

Well it turned out that the Shelby (unknown at the time) had an X pipe with high flow cats, don't think it was tuned though. He had bought the car not long back. Actually the SS dyno numbers are right in line with where they should be. But really it depends on the dyno. I have seen as low as 370 whp and as high as 427. But given a 15% drivetrain loss my numbers if anything show the car puts out a bit more than the 455 crank hp rating.

Camaros make 455hp to the crank, not to the wheels. It's stock.

Shelby driver not shifting in the power band and I think he's starting off in the wrong gear.

No it didn't.

that was a miss match all together. the 2007 gt500 may have had power at the crank, it puts down about 410 to the wheels out of 500hp. it ran 12.8s to the quarter. the 2008 an 09 seem to be slightly faster with the same 500hp. 2010 model had 540hp, 2011 an 12 had 550hp. this 07 had a lot of flaws as far as putting the power down. i was surprised to see it keep up at all. i nearly bought an 08 gt500. was going to put wider tires like 19"x9.5/20"x11 and some suspension work and see what it does. but decided to go with the 13 5.O instead.

We think it kept up so well because it was discovered weeks later that the car had an X pipe and high flow cats. From a roll I think these things do better than from a stop. I hear it's hard to launch them which results in most owners only getting high 12's at 112 out of them.

Oh it absolutely would! Part of me wanted to try and find a low mileage '13 or '14 GT500 since it's so much faster than the SS, but it was really out of my price range. I had a '12 bolt on coyote before buying this SS. I'm not a Chevy or Ford fanboy, but a lover of any fast car. The best thing about this '16 SS is honestly the chassis. It's an incredibly good handling car.

If they did it from a dig I feel the SS would hold it's own for a while. Going to have to wait for the new ZL1 to come out though, 640hp/650lbft, 3700lbs, and a 10 speed auto should make for quite the monster.

+DavezGTP Lol almost exact same thing for me. Went from a bolt on 13' Coyote to the 16' SS. I miss the general craziness of the Mustang, but the SS is easily the superior car. And yea the thing corners and turns like it's on fucking rails.

I love gt500s but this one is stock. They don't whine near as loud when not pullied and running an open element intake these had the old restrictive stock airbox with flat panel filter.

This isn't a surprise the Shelby one the first race here's a 200 hp difference, the Shelby should have won all races but the driver wasn't good, now don't get me wrong I personally prefer camaro over mustangs but the Shelby is better than the ss

Please tell me that you guys are not bragging about a duel over head cam, forged internals, super charger gt 500 starting to pull on a n/a single cam pushrod motor. Mustang older? It has wayyyyy newer technology. Like someone stated that year suffered from to small tires and flawed suspension. It struggled to apply its power and only made 400 something to the wheels. Its a top end car. The shifter also sucked that year. Anywhere under 85 and you slam gears could get you side ways. Both are great cars but imagine how fast the new zl1 will be

miami boi305 Those cars did about 450 to the wheels. They were good cars back then in stock form but where they really shine is when modding. That motor runs a mild compression ratio so you can just keep adding more boost. Try that with these modern engines running 11:1 compression ratios and you are asking for trouble.

That GT500 was heatsoaked on that last pull. Good races though.

he made it look like he won but trust me on a real drag track that shelby would dfinately smoke the fuck out of the camaro. he said his camaro dynos out at 406 a shelby can dyno out at 500 some horsepower this video is bullshit. a sheby has 489 lb ft or torque a damn camaro has 455 lb ft or torque.

What? 2007-2009 GT500 - 500 horsepower and about 440 rwhp stock 2010 GT500 - 540 horsepower and about 480 rwhp stock 2011/2012 GT500 - 550 horsepower and right at 500 rwhp stock 2013/2014 GT500 - 662 horsepower and just over 600 rwhp stock
