you will not get an accurate reading on the dip stick until after thre engine has been running and the oil filter is full of oil. oil is pumped through the filter before it circulates through the engine

Hey, Rodney. Totally agree with you. I try to make this point around the 9:32 or so mark, but I'm not super clear. Definitely have the let the car run for a minute or two and then do a final oil level check before calling it all good. Thanks!

Very helpful, now I don’t have to pay for these expensive oil changes for something that’s not too difficult to do myself.

Glad it helped. Nothing better than saving money except maybe the satisfaction of doing it yourself!

itl help you if you fill the new filter with oil before you put it on .and to release pressure in the engine loosen the oil cap before you empty the sump .hope this helps somebody

Sir, I’m considering buying a Mazda 6. I was really trying to decide between this and the Corolla. Everyone I know says Corollas are really low maintenance and very affordable when you do need to repair them. How do the Mazdas stack up in that regard?

I absolutely love it. I've owned a Mazda Protege as well (this was before the Mazda 3). That was a great car, too. No issues ever and I've not had any issues with the 6, though I've only had it 2 years, pushing 40000 miles now. That being said, I don't see how you can go wrong with a Corolla. It's not going to be as sporty, I don't think, so there's that to consider. My wife owned a 94 Camry a long time ago, we went over 100K miles on that car and never had a problem with it, either. Good luck with your decision!

Hey man Mazda’s are like Honda’s and Toyota they never give problems that’s the experience I’m still having with my car I step on it every once in a while and I drive pretty fast sometimes and still haven’t got any issues

0w20, wow. What is the oil change interval on that, or do you just go by the computer? That looks like a nice car, I've never had anything but Big 3, but I'm done with them on the next one.

Mazda recommends every 4500 miles. I have the base model (wanted a manual gearbox) so it doesn't have a maintenance minder computer (or at least one that's hooked up). I love the thing. Got it off-lease with about 28k on it. Paid 14k for it. Gets good mileage (about 29-30), 184hp so it's got some pep, will last forever, and I think the Mazdas are some of the best looking new cars on the road. Nothing on the Spitfire, mind you. Maybe not on an MGB, either ;)

@@ericpfiffner5615 manual gearboxes are only rare in america most autos as you know thats not driving is it.the rest of the world is mostly stick shift .autos are very lazy

I was surprised how much plastic was under the car. All in the name of gas mileage, I assume. What do you have if no crush washers? My Triumph uses a tapered (NPT) fiting, but that's real old school.

Nope. I drive it every day. Definitely a Mazda 6. The engine is the same in the higher level Mazda 3's, though, so it could work for that. If you have the 2.5 litre Mazda 3, it's the same motor.
