    Thanks for sharing! I test drove one with the exact exhaust an an Indian test drive event and loved it. Just enough growl to keep things interesting but not too much. Love the color of your bike!!

    I really like the sound of the stage one exhaust. A lot more throatier sound. Not too annoyingly loud, but just right.

    The whine people keep mentioning is the sound of the gear driven primary. It's been a feature of the Scout since 1920. No chain tensioner to adjust or fail.

    I just used an inch and a quarter hole saw with an extension on my stock exhaust to drill out the rear baffle in each pipe and it sounds a lot better.. it'll do until I can get new pipes

    I didn't get to finish my comment as I received a phone call. I just purchased a new Scout (2016) and I go in for my first service next week and I am on the fence as to whether or not I should install the stage 1 exhaust. I wanted to ask you if you think the stage 1 is worth installing; if the sound differential is a big step up. Your video was great and I could hear the difference when you pulled the throttle back. But human ears are the best judge as opposed to a video. I would appreciate your opinion. And thank you again for taking the time to post a most informative video.

  • @Slyder695

    it depends how big of a difference. it is louder and throatier but not real loud like installing Vance or short pipes. the video's audio isn't distinguishing the two very well. at idle the stage 1 is louder over stock and when you're on the throttle it is even better. people hear me coming now

    I can definitely hear the difference in the drive by between the stock exhaust and the Stage 1 exhaust. That high pitched whine still bugs me. I have a Scout 60 so it maybe wouldn't sound quite the same. What exhaust tips do you have on your Stage 1 pipes? I'd like to know if there is a difference in sounds with the different exhaust tips. Like the Thunderstroke, Fishtail, and Grooved Billet.

  • @Slyder695

    @Slyder695

    Cheryelle Crane I just have the tips that came with the stage one. The whine comes from the motor, don't think any pipe will get rid of that, it's polaris design which I don't care for either

    Not a huge difference at ALL. Thanks for sharing! When I get mine, I'm getting throatier sounding pipes. The stock & 2nd set are both too quiet for me. You can hear a slight difference on the drive by. What was the difference in torque and horsepower? Do you know?

    I like everything I've seen about the Indian Scout...except the exhaust. It sounds too...wispy. Not deep and throaty at all. And too quiet. Really it sounds quieter than my stock Vulcan exhaust. The Stage 1 exhaust you put on sounds the almost the same as the stock Scout exhaust. I thought it was my tablet speakers at first so I watched your video on my laptop, then on my surround sound TV. Same sound. I thought maybe it was my ears so I checked 3 other exhausts. (I had time on my hands waiting for UPS.) The stock exhaust in those comparisons sounded the same as yours, but the new exhausts all sounded different. You can't really say it's your camera or microphone, not KZread, not my speakers. It's your Stage 1 exhaust. It sounds almost like the stock exhaust. Check it yourself. Listen to different exhausts for the Scout on KZread. I recommend the Vance & Hines Grenade. That exhaust sounds loud and throaty and has a deep rumble when you blip the throttle.

    yea the Vance is much louder for sure. the stage 1 isn't an ear buster or a car alarm buster when going by, just a nice throaty sound. it all depends how loud a person likes it, I personally don't like too loud. Ride On!

    I hear very little difference in the different exhausts. The big problem here is that you can make any bike louder, but that doesn't mean it is going to sound good. The Indian engine is too smooth and even. Only Harley has that offbeat staggered idle that I find so appealing. But the new Harley Screamin Eagle pipes don't make much of a difference either. You have to go with aftermarket exhausts to make it sound like it should.

  • @mikefranklin7975

    Disagree...I have this same setup (traded in my 2010 Fatboy Lo for it). This is a much more refined sound, doesn't have the Harley ka-THUNK ka-THUNK sound of an aging, out of date setup. And hey, I can find neutral - FIRST time, every time! Harley still can't figure that out. Rode Harleys for 45 years....so glad I made the switch!

  • @Slyder695

    @Slyder695

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Mike Franklin I never rode a Harley, but people tell me these are smooth shifting. this machine is as fast as the bigger Harleys, I only weigh 140 though. and is as fast as the yammy v-max that a buddy of mine rides. a lot of punch for a small bike! Not to mention all the compliments! Ride On!

  • @vulcan1753

    @vulcan1753

    8 жыл бұрын

    My whole reason for liking and riding Harleys is that they ARE an old and somewhat unrefined design (I actually prefer the Shovelhead engine) I love that THUNK ka-THUNK sound. If Harley ever changed that, they would be out of business in no time. Harley once actually tried to trademark that sound. Harley sells way more cruisers in the U.S. than anyone else, by a large number. And that sound, along with the vibration that goes with it, is the main reason why. Modern bikes have become way over refined, just like modern cars. They have become nothing more than transportation appliances. That is NOT what I want, and it is not what other Harley buyers want.

  • @Slyder695

    @Slyder695

    +vulcan1753 agreed! Harley has their own sound and a great one at that

    Well you mentioned the "unrefined" motorcycle from HD and then talk about HD being way higher in sales compared to Indian but they are owned and operated by Polaris Motorsports. With that, Victory is also in the mix as well. Polaris wanted to have the classic look of the Indian with the smooth, refined finishes of modern, comfortable motorcycles. They kept the hard charging, clunking shifts, chugging engines/exhausts with the Victory line. This video is strictly about the Scout's exhaust and with the low quality audio (sorry Slyder695) it is a little hard to tell the difference but there is a significant sound difference in person. HD is losing customers left and right because of their outdated sales department. My wife and I both switched over to Polaris, me with the Victory Gunner and her with the Indian Scout and we couldn't be happier. Harley needs to wake and provide better service to their declining customer base if they want to stay king.
