I own the car, and there were a few errors in the review. The reason the car didn't sense the key fob to open the trunk sometimes, is that the key fob needs to be away from the car for more than 15 seconds for that feature to activate (read the manual). Also, there are 4 drive modes, not 3. The 4th is snow mode, which is activated by holding down the drive mode button. Finally, I don't know what the reviewer did, but I held down the channel on my radio, and it saved it from the 1st screen as a pre-set station. It was very intuitive and easy. I'm enjoying my new car a lot!

What most people don't know: A comparably equipped 2015 335i MSRP's at $62,225! Most people know is: The BMW is a much smaller car. To see the Genesis in person, it is VERY impressive offering for the price!

I just read for 2017, Hyundai is starting their true luxury division called, "Genesis". This car will be called "G80", while the Equis will be "G90". "The Genesis G80" has a nice ring to it. I would wait to buy one then.

Hyundia Genesis too expensive at $55000.00???? You people are kidding right? When the heck was the last time you people went looking for a new car? I guess you people have never heard of inflation. Go take a trip to your german or Japanese dealership and tell them you want the same features as this Hyundia for the same price. I'll tell you right now that they will laugh at you. You people just don't like the brand and that's why you are here bashing.

+Tampa0123456789 $55K is not that much when you compare the amount of features you get in the car to another luxury sedan like mercedes, bmw, and lexus. The mercedes e class BASE PRICE is $52K and does not include any of the features you would find in the genesis. if you add all of the comparable features to the mercedes e class, your looking to spend about $70k and this is a front wheel drive gasoline car with NO AWD. Even with taxes and fees on the genesis your still saving at least 15k-20k on the car. People have heard of inflation, but inflation happens on any kind of new car you buy buddy. Peace.

I just think Cadillac's interior is still not great. Yeah there is no squeaking and other cheap noises but the quality, fit and finish, and design just doesn't do it for me. It may be a better performance car but not a better luxurious car especially with CUE. If Hyundai can make a great car like this that is cheaper than its competition, just imagine what their cars would be like if their prices was as much as an E Class or they had their own luxury brand, Cadillac would be no more.

I would honestly buy this over any other luxtury brand personally. My reasoning is that, if something were to happen to it I'm sure the repairs would be a lot less expenisve then other brands. Also, (again personal prefrence) I think the grill and logo looks really stunning.

Just bought my 2015 Genesis yesterday and so far the car is so much better than I realized. Actually driving the car and spending time with it I find more and more things to like about it. It so many features and in my opinion it competes with any other luxury brand vehicle. Cant beat it for the price you pay. Amazing vehicle...

FYI, Emme the auto trunk lid has a built in safety feature. The system needs to be reset by you stepping away from the vehicle (about 30 feet) and waiting a few seconds. Otherwise it will not auto open the trunk. This was demonstrated to me by the dealership. You don't want the trunk to open unexpectedly. That is probably why it randomly opened for you. Are you going to do a test drive of the V8 model? I drove the V6 vs. V8 Ultimate package. They both drive dynamically different due to suspension setting being different, engine power and wheel size. I like the V8 better.

this is a great point and I agree. I work in the vehicle service contract industry and can tell you that Hyundai is putting out a very mechanically reliable product. In fact, it's gotten better and better and better since they first hit U.S shores...however, most American's are brand conscious and Hyundai would be well served to cater to that. Plus..once they create their "luxury brand", like Toyota did with Lexus, etc...they could charge more $$$ for their products and Americans would be happy to pay for it. Personally, I hope their product stays relatively "cheap" and "un cool"...so that I can reap the incredible value and stick more $$$$ into things that actually go UP in value.

gratefulRed69 Hyundai had scheduled to launch the Genesis Brand as a stand alone product but the global economy w old not allow for a "LUXURY" line at the time. Hyundai marketed this vehicle as but a premium product which is how they have been able to cunningly position the vehicle to what is now being accepted as the "New Luxury" of the 2nd Golden Era of automotive History.

You can't hate the car because of the brand and it's "just a hyundai" the new genesis is a very very nice car, luxury and performance, etc, and you can't say it stole other car designs look because obviously other car company took other designs as well, everyone shares designs and plus Audi and hyundai designed it, so it's not trash, and lotus also partnered up, makes it much much better for looks and performance

When passing the local dealer I was surprised to see an Audi parked in a prominent position. On closer examination it was the new Genesis. I can't get past how much Audi there is in the front end and a back end that is, at best, non-offensive. Definitely an upgrade over the first generation. Until I could be sure of the retained value over time a lease would be the way to go. Like it but not giving up my German sedan.

Great review Emme, best review so far since you joined the TFLCar team. Actually noticed the 4K video quality on this one for the first time. I thought I was watching Autoguide at first. Some advice tho, too much contrast on the dark scenes (couldn't see what's under the hood at all). And the western music in the beginning doesn't match the luxury theme this car is going for. AMAZING car, BUT, there isnt many rich people who would ever buy it over a merc/audi/bmw/cadi simple because of a brand name and status, thats very important to many people who have loads of money. The only demographic I see getting this are the people who want an S class but dont have the money. The people who do have the money wouldnt care to save some simply cause brand name/brand value. Being a big lawyer in New York driving Hyundai and not a merc would be laughable by your customers/co workers etc.

Interesting you say that sir. My neighbor is the CEO of a large company and drives this. He is a perfectionist, he wouldn't drive it if it wasn't perfect. As a side note, he drives a Porsche 911 turbo when the weather permits, so he certainly has the money to get a name brand luxury vehicle. I think it takes bold people to drive this car, cowards won't.

I notice mostly people who can not "really" afford Merc/Audi/BMW/Cadi, buy them to look rich. The truly wealthy people, don't really care, because they know they are successful and don't need a car to display it. They buy what they like. Besides, merc/audi/bmw/cadi aren't that difficult to obtain, there are leasing and financing options. You would be surprised how many of them on the road are leased or financed, and live pay check to pay check.

Tonite So true. My brother in law and wife just bought a BMW 328i. Supposedly they are trying to have baby. Their income is probably less than half of what my wife and my total combined income is. I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8. With 2 young kids, it had way more rear seat leg room than most other cars I cross shopped. I'd rather put money towards my kids future and college than to buy an expensive luxury car that shows of one's supposed status.

I like the opening "voice of God". lol The review was done in typical Emme fashion. :-) I'm not in the market for such a vehicle (God shoot me if I ever am.. sports cars for life!), but I wouldn't be paying 52G's for a Hyundai. Despite all its features. The way it drives is still not at the same level as the rest of the competition. If I was going to get something like that, it would have to be something from the German marquee's. Although, the new 3 series fighting Jag is soon to be released.. That'll be interesting.. :-)

No thanks! For the same price I can get an Audi A6 2.0T Quattro with the Premium Plus package, Warm and Cold weather packages and rear sear air bags. A better car, better handling, better premium materials, better in the snow and rain, just about as quick with better fuel economy. Plus I can tell people I drive an Audi and feel proud instead of whispering that I drive a Hyundai. You know that's true. Don't get me wrong the Genesis looks like a good car, it's bigger, would have a few more features, but that's all. It's not a complete package like the Audi would be.

SOPHIA ,Scott Johnson, and James Cox from Hyundai Canada Corp. said my car have no rattles. Thank you very much for the runarounds, games and even kicked out after buying a $52,000 sedan! SOPHIA have attempted twice to cover up the CAMVAP case and disregarded majority of my emails and my second video regarding the door binding issues. I have also ask a Third Party evaluation who teaches Automotive Mechanic in a major institution to verify and confirm! Judge for yourself before buying a Hyundai. KZread channel: jj seto SOPHIA and Hyundai tried to drag out the adjustment warranty for creaks and rattles.

winter song I'm a BMW fanatic and yes I agree with you. BMW/Audi/Merc.Benz have not really impressed me with their latest offerings. BMW with their introduction of like 50 new useless models (X1, X4, X6, 2series, grand tourismo, ActiveHybrids, MX6, etc..) in the last years is going for quality over quantity. They even admit that. The CEO said last week "their mission is to sell as much steel as possible regardless of what Mercedes and Audi is doing". Mercedes is following suit by the introduction of their own useless line of SUVs and tiny hatch backs. I love BMW but I agree with you still that doesn't mean I will run out and buy a Hyundai just because it is copying the German competition. Volvo and Subaru has some interesting things coming thru the pipes

winter song you got issues bro. It's just a car. At the end of the day no one cares what our opinions are as we write them on KZread. People buy what they can afford or what they want. No one cares if I buy a BMW or Hyundai. No cares if I love one or the other so you shouldn't take it so personal. BMW and Hyundai will remain Billion Dollar Companies regardless of if we do or don't buy their cars. Is the internet and KZread new to you?
