I’m like you! I have full time job at a bodyshop! But I’ve been detailing on the side! Mostly family and Friends cars! I really enjoy watching you videos! It inspires me to want to take it to the next level. I also have the griot’s G9 and just recently purchased the 3inch polisher! I love the simplicity of your videos and how layed back you seem to be. Its ability to cut and finish with 0 dusting is phenomenal. On harder clear I'm able to basically 1 step the paint! Softer I finish it out with the perfecting cream for a killer 1-2 combo

I use a lot of the same products as you. I used to use the Meg's Ultimate All Wheel cleaner as an iron remover for the whole car - but since it is a thick gel I found that it doesn't work that well for large panels - I would have to use a lot of it and then spread it out with a damp microfiber to get even coverage so it ended up not being as cost effective as it seemed. It is still the cheapest iron remover I have found as far as volume at $9.98 for 32 oz and I still use it for wheels because it works great! I have switched to Meg's Wheel and Paint Iron Decon. I get it through detailed image and it is $79.99/Gallon but if you purchase a lot from them then with wholesale discounts you can get it for about $60/Gallon and it works really well and it is watery so it will give a nice even coverage and you can use about half as much as with the Ultimate All Wheel cleaner. I don't use tape like most detailers for showing the 50/50's - what I do is make a "line" while polishing and then put tape over the line to show the 50/50 because that way you won't have to worry about the adhesive and you won't polish a hard line on the paint that can take a lot of work to remove - and will make the clear coat unevenly polished because you will have to polish twice along the line to blend it back in. I hope someone gets some value from the book I just wrote. Thank you for the solid polisher review! Cheers!

BpsDetail, thanks for the information!!! That's a good idea about the tape line. I hate doing them and this was my first time. Just know that people like the 50/50. I'm going to give your method a try. Haha the novel is appreciated, I'm here to learn just as much as I am here to help. 👍👍 I'll look into that decon/iron remover you suggested. If I did this daily would make more sense for sure. Thanks again for the tips!!

Finally getting around to my car! I wish I could get the dent out of my fender (hit and run) while parked. But I have the ‘13 Accord EX in their Maroon (wish it was the blue). I’ll be using my Griot’s G9 and G8 that I bought after a ton of research and reviews (a ton of help from you personally). I have an unopened gallon of purple power (never knew I could use it for a strip wash) so I’m glad I watched this! Your shelve looks like mine lol. The only thing I need is a good (yet affordable) paint light, and a fan because it’s still 105° (or more in the garage). I’ve always used my polishers on the job, but haven’t used it in my car yet! I have the BOSS line as well, but was wondering if I should use that, or their Comound and polish (yellow bottles). Even though I have Sonax, Megs, about 10 other brands of compounds/polishers, I wanted to stick with all Griot’s on my car, especially since I have a couple bottles open from a paint correction job. All great tips and even learned a different strip product! I know this video is 2 years old, but if you have any other advice, I’d like to hear! I also have Papacut in my FAB cart online! I wanted to buy it with a ceramic product, saving shipping cost, so I haven’t bought it yet (waiting until I can afford to spend anything..like even food these days). After losing my dad to Covid, 11 months ago to the day, I took a break from detailing, and well.. it’s just been hard times. But while I still have a garage (before this house sells) I figured I should get back into everything, and finally getting to my swirled paint! Hopefully I can pull out that fender dent soon as well! My long way of saying, Thank you for all that you do! All of your hard work, advice and sharing your knowledge in these videos, as I’ll be watching more especially now after taking a break this year! (couldn’t believe I was only subscribed on my business account, now I’m subbed on this one as well)! 🙂

First off thank you for commenting! I appreciate your words my friend! My G9 Actually stopped working this past weekend on a truck I'm doing a paint correction on. ( video will be out hopefully next weekend ) I contacted GriotsGarage and spoke with them and they no questions asked sent me q label for return and will be shipping me a new unit. This is by no means meaning the machine is not good. One of the brushes appeared to have gotten chewed up by my guess is a maybe something that didn't get cleaned out of case before assembly. I will be doing a video tonight to inform my subscribers of the issue better👍 with that said still a great beginner polisher and I have NO doubts you will achieve some Fantastic results! Its very light, and comfortable. The Griots BOSS Creams are absolutely fantastic products. I have used all 4. The Complete Compound and polish are also great starter compounds/polishes. I've yet to really use any other compounds or polishes as I haven't found the need. They work for what I need and well I'm sure when time comes I'll try others. Not necessarily no. The iron remover helps break down and dissolve the contaminants in the paint so that when you move to your clay process they come out much easier. On a heavily contaminated paint you will be there for an long time trying to remove them.. 👍🏻 also, picture the clean coat with a jagged piece of metal stuck in it. If you just clay it it will be ripping that bug particle out leaving behind a jagged hole. If you dissolve it in size with iron remover than it will come out of the clear Easier and not leave such a crater behind

Hey, Brandon. First of all thank you for commenting👍and thank you, I appreciate it! To answer your question, no. The orange pad will not leave swirl Mark's ( unless you for some reason put a dry pad on the paint ) which you should never do. Same goes for the black pad. Remeber that before you wax it if the paint feels rough make sure you Decontaminate it with clay bar and proper lube before attempting to polish👍 BOSS creams are very safe. If you are new I'd go with the orange foam pad and some correcting cream👍 it finishes out very well. Shoot even the Griots Garage Complete compound and Complete polish are great as well. The black pad I use if I'm applying for instance the Finishing Sealant from griots. It's a nice 1-2 combo. I did an oxidation removal video using that exact combo. You can check that out if you'd like. The red wax pad is nice. Very soft. Softest of them all. Its definitely faster but some cases I reach for my foam applicator and just apply by hand. Just depends the vehicle. Griots BOSS creams starting from least aggesive to most. 1. Finishing Sealant 2. Perfecting cream 3. Correcting Cream 4. Fast correcting cream ( most aggressive) severe defects. Then you have pad choice. From least aggressive to most 1. Red foam pad ( wax ) 2. Black finishing pad ( finishing polish/sealant ) 3. orange pad ( correcting pad ) Then you move into the BOSS pads that are thinner which translates to more power from machine to paint. BOSS Pads least aggressive to most 1. Black Finish pad 2. Yellow perfecting pad 3. Orange correcting pad 4. White fast correcting pad Sorry for the long post but as I was starting I knew I had many questions. Please let me know if you need anything else. I'll be glad to help 👍👍

Switch pad and do trunk lid and bumper. And same as I work around the car.. i used i think 6 pads. Fast forward to now.... I now have an air compressor which I blow out the pad after every pass... usually just use 2 pads. Just clean one once it gets to clogged. And set to dry, but the time my new pad needs a clean the first one is dry👍 I rarely use foam pads to cut though anymore. Microfiber pads are awesome!!! I'll use foam to finish out on certain paints. Long story short. I ended up taking my Mustang thru a touch less car wash (which I never ever do) I did because it was in the shop during a winter storm. Then had to drive it home thru salty roads. The touch less car wash took every ounce of shine off my paint and left soap stains that wouldn’t wash off. Shell paid me $450 to have it buffed out. I decided to do it myself and save $225. Variety is always good to have as every car is different. But, if your using a foam pad like the ones here you'll be ok for just starting out! 👌 as you grow into more paint polishing and into going after more defects and being comfortable, you'll start adding different pad combinations 👍 Urofiber and microfiber.. wool ect. But to answer your question I only use 2 pads per vehicle once I've found my combination. I'll rotate them after a few panels always blowing them out after each pass. I have thousands and thousands of hours with both an angle grinder and most importantly a pneumatic polisher in my hands. I am a stone fabricator by trade. I have loved cars my whole life since knight rider episode 1 and others. After hundreds of youtube videos now, from detailing equipment to tutorials, I feel strongly that paint correction and polishing are a natural progression for me, like I am going to do well with it. My biggest con, is they vent hot air into your palm when holding a side grip. Other than that they are ok for me. The G9 had its issues as well, with the power cord. More when they were in the first year of release. Griots customer service is second to none and they took care of me. I still have my unit and actually still use both my Griots unit as well as my maxshine units. 👍 Adam's an CG I can not speak for on there polishers. there is no " best product " my friend!! there are SO many variables to consider.. hard clear?? Soft clear?? its all about testing what you have on the paint your working on at the very moment in time your polishing. One combo may work awesome on one car, yet fail to yield the same results on another. So my advice is this. Always start with a test section and start with the least aggressive method possible. Check your work and if you are happy with the results then stick to that pad/polish/compound. If you feel the need to step up, then step up with either a more aggressive pad or liquid. Once you find what you are happy with then boom! your do the rest of the car. I hope this helps!! Now with that being said, here are a few combos I use that are great! 3D ONE hybrid compound and polish with Buff an Shine Urofiber 50-50 pad Griots Garage Orange foam correcting pad ( regular or Boss ) and The Boss correcting cream Griots Garage BOSS fast correcting cream with the Griots Garage Boss Microfiber pad

For instance I'd say in a 16oz bottle you would only need like 2oz of isopropyl alcohol and the rest distilled water... but I'd rather use a specific paint prep as they are designed specifically for that. Ethos Detox, Gyeon Prep, carpro eraser, Rustoleum grease and wax remover, duplicolor grease and wax remover, ect... hope that helps!!

You can get some fantastic results with those off the shelf GriotsGarage pads.. I've noticed they only have the 6.5 inch ones which is fine cause the G9 comes with a 6" backplate.. I would get you a 5" backplate for it. Also, I forgot to mention a great paint prep I've used. Its Kleen strip prep all. Fantastic paint prep! It's like 22 bucks a gallon on Amazon👍🏻 Back to you wanting to offer paint corrections. You wanna get yourself a few different pads cause every cars paint ( clear coat ) is different. Some arw soft and cut very easy where you may only need a polish pad, however some may be hard and stubborn and need a microfiber cutting pad and the a finish with a foam polish pad. If your sticking to your G9 and the 6 inch plate snatch up a Griots Microfiber fast finish pad from autozone along with a black finish pad. The MF fast finish pad can cut surprisingly well! And when you cut that deep you will get haze and some micro marring.. that's when you slap the black finish pad on with a few pea size drops of you finish polish and finish that baby down!!✊🏻✊🏻 let me know if you have any other questions man!

Now I will use the G9 for corrections that's not so bad to save my shoulder, arms and wrist. Lol The G9 has a 1000 watt motor and like a 10 amp motor which will help prevent it from bogging down. They have several different Microfiber pads that you can use that will cut faster than foam and also finish out fantastic!! they have finishing pads that are microfiber that work awesome. To me, its all about the product your using how it breaks down and finishes out. Some products with finish out better than others and you have to jump to a foam to finish out. All depends how the clear your polishing reacts to the pad/polish combo. I hope this helps!!!
