I always loved the sports bikes and racing style bikes. But for me they were not attainable because i was poor. Also they were not what i needed. I needed a low cost mid tier long distance bike. That how I wound up with the Z650. But going to the races and watching the guys race was always a lot of fun..

Actually, it reminds me of the Katana 1100s of the early 80s. You could buy the full fairings for them too. But a lot of guys got themselves "ended" on those things. They were just so powerful.

It has the same look. Very fast bike for the time.

@@Yo-Ken Yep, it's not the same, but it is a sort of an echo of the Katana.

@Yo-Ken, what frame sliders are those? I bought my FZ with OEM fairings on it. I don’t think I’ve seen a one before, gorgeous!!

I got them off of ebay... you need to by 2 sets. There are for the R1 and each site is different. Just use the ones with the longer shank. Works great. www.ebay.com/itm/331990516194

I like the fairing look. How does that bike compare say to the MT 10?

The MT10 is a evolution of the FZ1. The MT10 stock for stock has more power and torques. 165hp and 82lb/ft. The FZ1 has 146hp and 76lb/ft. The MT is also lighter... 467 to the FZ 487. The MT has very comfy seating position, you are sitting straight up , where as the FZ is more sporty, you lean over a bit more and the pegs are higher up. My bike is tuned so it makes a little bit more than the MT10. If we did a roll race the MT would stay or be slightly a head, but by a 120mph the FZ would take the lead. The higher rpm and fairing would keep the FZ out front. The bikes are very similar in handling and ride. For me I like the FZ1 better as I can tuck in at high speed... it feels more stable than a naked bike. If you are looking for a street fighter type bike, you can beat the MT10 for price and power, handling, ride.... its a great bike, it has it all.

i have one 2008 with fairings in Finland. In my opinion it pushes alot hot air up between legs. Good when cold but now when we break heat records it is a pain. I believe if not use fairings it spreads heat elsewhere, but i also like the looks with fairings. BTW, how much was it?

In this video it was in the upper 80's and I did not notice any more heat. It feels the same to me. The fairing came from Spain. Total cost $450.

@@Yo-Ken oh it sounds cheap. As I am second owner of my bike i got it as is, but first owner did purchase fairings as new. I think he told paying some 800€ for original set. Could you share the link for manufacturer?

@Aknedsrkeusla it was not painted, it was another $400 for paint here in the US. It was $450 including all the mounting hardware and shipping. The shipping was around $150. www.ebay.com/itm/175007488419

@@Yo-Ken thank you! I have an engine guard and highway pegs on mine right now I’m thinking about cutting a little of the fairing to keep the pegs if I really need to
