Since I started playing table tennis, he has been my idol.

I absolutely despise the part of the audience that is booing Zhang Jike during the medal ceremony. I can partially understand the booing when he kicks and demolishes the banners, but Zhang Jike fully deserved the gold medal after terrific play against Ma Long. I doubt anyone who were booing have invested only one tenth of the effort in their lives compared to Zhang Jike. So pay some God damn respect to one of the all-time greats in the sport.

It actually wasn't like this.I was there and you didn't hear that much boing the microfones were al over the dome and maybe 10 guys were booing but the multidimensional made it loud I didn't hear that booing

Nah, an emotional outburst after victory is sometimes expected in most games. Didn't you see others in other games wrecking their rackets, throwing their rackets or breaking their golf clubs?

imagine some one ask you to beat Ma Long for 1 million dollar and you did it. What would you do after your match point? Calmly shake your opponent hand? NO you fucking scream and fucking do what ever the fuck you want as long as it's not illegal.

This man dedicated his life to the sport to achieve that prestigious goal of being world champion yes he destroyed a barrier, (somehow) but he has devoted his literal life to the sport and his body itself shows the dedication and hard work he has endured in order to get that stage

In total Ma Long won 63 points to Zhang Jike’s 64 points in the entire match so one point separating the two, that’s how closely they were matched. What a great match!!!

Zhang Jike has magic hands and in particular his backhand is extraordinary. Ma Long is an aerobics champion. It’s like he’s using two hearts to power his body.

It is now 2021. So much time goes by so soon. It doesn't seem like 7 years have gone by. Zhang Jike is now ranked 464 in the world or might have totally disappeared from the rankings by now. Zhang Jike will always be my favorite. Thank you for the memories and inspiring me.

His back injury was too severe, so he virtually quitted training in 2019. The ranking makes no sense after that. In fact, I don’t think ranking’s ever made any sense for a monster like him.

He kicked the banners, I guess its understandable, during the match he got pressured by Ma Long fans, cheering for him all the way through the match. Well played Zhang Jike

My Idol, Ma Long

I just had to come back and watch this legendary battle and Zhang Jike's legendary kick after knowing he was having serious injury on his waist and was under tremendous doubt and pressure during this tournament. Especially after I learned how to use my waist to do powerful forehand loops I realized how important the waist is for pro TT players. Kudos to Zhang Jike, An amazing fighter.

Why not? He was celebrating. In general people like a show. This kind of stuff can make a sport more popular. In other sports they do much more weird stuff. And you need to understand that ZJ worked very hard to achieve this result. ITTF didn’t give money him for this. Is it fair? I think not. ZJ is a rebel, Bob Dylan of table tennis. He is very different from other TT players

Thanks again for uploading such a high quality video, way much much better than the stupid ITTF ones. This match would be more exciting with more rallies if ITTF didn't change the stupid ball. See how many times Ma Long missed his powerful forehand to return easy balls, which seldom happened before. The new ball seems to be lighter with weaker spin, which makes it less predictable for the players. Besides, the ball sounded as if it was broken...As a result, both of them played very carefully and conservatively. I can't see as many heavy shots from both of them as before. The ball becomes slower, which is a problem for players with fast speed and strong power like ML, ZJK and D.O., meanwhile it might be good news for some other defence style players, e.g., Timo and Jun. As a comparison, see their match of 2011 Austria Open Final, or any other matches before the stupid new ball was in use.

I'm also a ZJK fan. I think the fact that ZJK's stepped down due injury was opportunity for ML to rise and gained his confident at world stages. If current ML will probably beat the prime ZJK in a world stage match. But if ZJK didnt step down then we wont see a ML like he is now. ML is the GOAT but ZJK will remain my only table tennis hero who inspired me to watch table tennis and made me wanted to play like him. ZJK was also the inspiration for ML to achieve what he's having now. They are both legends.
