A fully loaded Corolla running $19k? Excuse me? I work at a dealership and regularly see Corollas running $21k up to $24k.

Agree, I used to work at Toyota too and a fully loaded Corolla was always around $21 to $24k, which is comparable to this Mazda3. But the Mazda3 is so much better.

I still own my 2014 mazda3 hatchback manual and it hasn't had on problem, no creaks and rattles and I know when I shift gears quickly, I get to sixty below 8 secs. The shifter is a smooth as the day I bought it. I did put some Michelin Defender tires, they have more roll resistance but give a more comfortable quieter ride. The suspension in this car is so intuitive.

My wife just bought the Mazda3 and she loves it. The Mazda3 is a fun car to drive and comes standard with a Computer Display that is easy to use yet rich with features. The interior of this car has an interior design that is deceptively roomy. To each their own but personally I like larger vehicles. A+ rating for a small car!

Hey fast lane car guys. I really thought this is a great review! Thank you. But if you want some feedback: A comment on the stereo system would be nice imo. Not allot of reviewers do that sadly. Also, the reallife fuel efficiency would be interesting. But maybe you didnt have enough time for that. Cheers

I took it easy on the Mazda - for the most part. I did dump the clutch the first time I shut the TC off. It bogged heavily. The 2-liter needs high revs doled out judiciously - something I hope to do with practice when we get one up here.

Nice review Nathan on this car. One thing I've noticed is they've seem to have shrunk the backseat leg room on this one, in comparison to earlier 3's or better yet, my Mazda Protege5, it has scads of room in the back seat, at a bit of a compromise in the way back area. This just looks like they squished the back area in all directions, and whomever is back there gets shafted. I'm not sure I'd buy this, but love Mazda's though for driving dynamics.

Leg feels about the same as the previous model. Headroom does feel a tad tighter. I'm not sure about the comparison to the Protege5, as I haven't sat in one for many years. The cargo area for the '14 seems lower, but a bit deeper too.

Looks like they were only given it for a spin around the neighborhood, needs a full review. Do the seats fold all the way flat? How many cubic feet? Is that more or less than common competitors? how's the braking from 60mph? How's the brake fade? What's the slalom speed, and how does it compare? Whats the 1/4 mile time? Whats the measured ambient noise level at 80mph? How's the turn radius? Are the projectors good? How's the stereo? Is the navigation accurate? Real world fuel economy?

I don't know I kinda like the aggressive look of 4 places where lights are projected. Example the new MDX, the new headlights look sweet but if you want fog lights you have to fork out an extra $700 for them to be installed on any trim. Otherwise they are just black pieces of plastic with a tiny chrome strip on the 2 bottom sides.

Mazda did achieve some innovations but as someone said earlier and I agree with him, that without something to compete against the power and refinement of a V6, mazda lost alot of buyers as the old drivetrain on the CX-9 is reaching its age as you mention. Maybe soon Mazda will surprise us with a skyactiv V6 :D

Here in Canada, on any Saturday or Sunday drive out in the country there are dozens of Speed traps set up for anyone who DARES drive more than 10 km/hr over the posted speed limit ( that's about 6 mph over the posted speed limit.) So really, why would it matter what the 0-60 time is since you are not going to be using it anyways. How the cruise control works is probably more important since you will be using it non-stop to keep from getting nailed by the cops.

Well it is a metric that shows acceleration ability. Important where one is forced to regularly accelerate 0-70 on freeway stoplight onramps, which is going to be in any metropolitan area. I agree it's not necessarily the best metric but it's universally used in the car world so might as well stick with it instead of creating a whole new system that nobody will understand off the bat.

The new Mazda are completely different from Ford now. The new skyactiv engine has over 709 different parts in it compared to it's old predecessor, it no longer wants to continue the inefficient Ford drivetrain. The new I4 is their main priority right now especially when the skyactiv drivetrain is selling very well in the market and hopefully make up their lost profit. They've been holding out this tech away from Ford. CX-9 uses the same old drivetrain, all they did was redesign the exterior
