2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid - Redline: Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After a full redesign for 2013, the MKZ marks the start of a new design era for Lincoln with bold looks, impressive technology, and high-fuel efficiency. Has Ford finally turned Lincoln into the luxury brand it has the potential to be? Or will they continue to head down the fancy Ford path?

What was this guy expecting, Porsche 918 quality and numbers? Even when he conducted an in depth analysis, he was to critical about details instead of focusing on the actual driving dynamics and overall package.

I have the Fusion, and now the MKZ. To be honest, I was literally seeking a bloated Fusion. I loved it so much, I said the Lincoln has to be awesome. I wasn't wrong. I have no interest in hp at the moment, so fuel savings is king. The ride is what stands out in my mind. Everything is relative, and since I don't regularly drive around in premium luxury, it was mind blowing. The ride is amazingly smooth and buttery, but not sloppy. A nice stereo, comfortable seats and a quiet cabin. I got the car used, so it was light years less than new. In fact, 4k cheaper than a brand new entry level Sentra.

It had to have one sensor replaced in all the time I had it but it was a recall so I wouldn't count that as really a problem seeing as how it was across a range of rigs. But seriously I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Sale stats show 3 out of 4 buyers are NOT buying the hybrid version, even though it carries the same pricetag as the normal gasoline car. This shows buyers still don't trust hybridization in their cars (perhaps they heard it costs $2500 to replace the battery after 8-10 years).

You're mentioning the Audi A3TDI and comparing the Lincoln MKZ to it is really way off, they are in a different class! The Lexus would be a closer comparison and after all your driving a luxury eco vehicle that does have a sporty feel and quite a lot of safety technology! It also can be optioned to include heated rear seats, also rear safety seat belts. Thanks for a good review I enjoyed it overall and just as a suggestion for the future you might consider doing a driving review of two comparable class cars especially for the luxury hybrid sedan category.

I almost bought the MKZ in 2015, test drove it and really thought about pulling the trigger. I have to say I really liked the car and what it offered. Of course I was looking at the non hybrid, just not enough power in this car for what it is. Anyways I was pretty positive I would be getting the MKZ but decided to look around a little more. Stopped at a Hyundai dealership and boy was I thankful. Hyundai had a slightly used 2015 Genesis sedan for about 8k less than the MKZ I was looking at. I took the Genesis for a test drive and immediately made the deal. I love that car today almost as much as I did when I bought it. As a pure luxury car, its ni comparison. The Genesis at the time was a far superior luxury car. I did like the feel of the steering better on the MKZ, I thought that car handled better. Both have a great look, couldn't go wrong there, but I felt I got a better deal along with a better overall car. Not to mention the warranty allows you to never worry with Hyundai/Genesis

Came back to this because my bro found a good deal on a 2016 MKZ. Well what you would call a good deal today. It has 48k miles and its a base trim for 20k. I told him that car would have been 15k 18 months ago. Anyways this time I read some of the reviews, and a lot of you are knocking Safyon review on this car. First of all he is 100% right on telling you there is A LOT of negatives to this car. 18 months ago if you bought a USED one there were NO COMPLAINTS. Because you could get this car for 18k and less, even the top trims with 40k miles were 18 and under. In the retrospect it was a good deal. Brand new, Hell No is it a good deal back with the 2017's on down. As I said before I almost bought a new 2015 MKZ. But thankfully I stopped in a Hyundai dealership and they showed me a slightly used Genesis sedan which is now called the G80. I took it out for a test and knew I was buying it a block away from the dealership on my test drive. I paid 8k less than the MKZ I had picked out. And the ONLY thing the MKZ was better at was the steering and handling. Sport mode tighten's up the steering just perfectly for my taste so that fixed that. Of course the handling was still better in the MKZ , but it also weighed like 700 lbs less. They both looked very good, but I preferred the size and more expensive look of my Genesis. But when you get to the cabin is where Genesis blew Lincoln away. I will admit the Genesis was a little more old peoples vibe, but it still was a superior quality. The MKZ had the slightest upscale feel of a Ford Fusion. And the safety tech was laughable compared to the Genesis. Whats crazy is where talking about my brother buying a used MKZ for a little over 20k. I took him up to the Hyundai dealership I go to where they had a 2021 Sonata Limited with 19k miles. He walked out paying almost 26k and the remaining balance of the 100 thousand mile warranty. Now the MKZ he was getting was a 2018. 2 days later we drove to where that MKZ was and I had him take it for a test drive like he was interested in buying it. I sat in the back for this test drive and then sat in the back of his Sonata on the way home. The Lincoln absorbed bumps a little better in the back and was a little bit more quiet in the cabin. But that Sonata offered more and was roomier in the back. Has sunshades on the back passenger doors, Lincoln didn't, heated and cooled seats in the back, Lincoln didn't, a better sounding system, a more luxurious feel and look than the Lincoln MKZ and a huge Panoramic sunroof where the Lincoln had a small one. A huge digital instrument cluster with blind spot monitoring cameras in the Gauges when you turn on turn signals, a way bigger infotainment screen with 360 degrees surround back up camera which the Lincoln offered none of that. Told him to put on the highway driving assist which was a absolute joke compared to the Sonata which by the way basically drives itself on the highway. I was astounded how long you can keep your hands off the steering wheel. I am honestly jealous he got that car. A freaking Sonata that is superior compared to a Lincoln so called luxury vehicle. No way should a Hyundai Sonata be that freaking nice. Oh I almost forgot the bad ass heads up display on the Sonata that I am almost certain the MKZ didn't have. So this is why he is giving so much negative towards the Lincoln. You people leaving hating comments about his review don't have a clue whats the difference because your so caught up on the fact its a Lincoln and has to be better than what he is saying. Sorry he is a person who test drives 50 vehicles a year, he understands the difference between them.

As an owner of a 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid owner for 9 months now, I can tell you just getting in it and driving it at first you will not get the epa fuel economy. It took me about a month to figure out how to drive it properly, and I'm getting 43 in a car that's only suppose to do 41 that's not even trying. You have to train yourself to drive differently, I generally don't have to go over 3 rpm in daily driving due to the torque it produces and COAST alot. Don't rely on the car to tell the mpg, only hand calculation counts believe me I've had it said 35 for a week, go fill up and hand calculate 40. My mother bought an mkz with the 3.7 and its a beast! LOL. I want to see you drive that Honda Accord Hybrid the way you drove the lincoln and get the 50/47 it won't happen. I've read the reviews and people are saying you have to drive at 65 on the hwy to get the special number.

It being 2017? Its a Good Value now for a used 25k-35k mi vehcile.. selling for only in the $20-$24k price.. And If you look for one in the country? They give them awaay for ave of $2-$3k Less than you will pay for one at a Dealer in or near a city.. They can't sell them in the rural towns.. Then gain, your ave speed in rural area's is above 50 mph on most country roads.. more like 60's.. tht is why they are hard to sell.

I agree that is average interior inside even compared to say a new IMPALA. When reviewers talk about quiet we all hear rattling cameras and road noise and passing traffic due to your mic. making it sound loader inside the cabin then it really is. I would say a cheap decibel (DB) meter and then compare one to another of that category. I agree with 99% of the review! to many other choices for less money.

Rented a Ford Tarus Limited from Hertz. Lincoln borrows the same interface and interior quality(owned by Ford obviously). Only difference is the layout. I would go with a Taurus at least people might think I'm a cop part of the time. Lincoln should've made the MKZ leather wrapped in every crevice and maybe change the Dashboard and center console cubby layout. Starting at $40K there's no difference between a Ford Taurus Limited and a Base MKZ.

5:50 6:20 - I really hate the these touch sensitive capacitive buttons. Me too! Wish they'd stop putting garbage infotainment systems in cars. Either make it awesome like Tesla or don't bother. Just leave space for me to mod one in, and have knobs and physical buttons for all the main stuff.
