    You can replace the wheels to bigger ones, tires and suspension and improve both the ride as well as the handling at the same time! The leather is a bit hard though. Needs more luxury there!

    Dude, it's supposed to be a compact sport sedan. Of course there won't be much room. Reviews like this is the reason why these once awesome "compact" sports sedans keep getting heavier. If you want something roomy, go get a damn avalon or shell out 50 grand for the Q70.

    It's a god darn entry level compact sports sedan. They keep on getting larger and heavier and I'm hating it. I love the size of the new ATS. Everything now is borderline camry size. And journalist are still complaining about size. Hit the Gym.

    He didn't go over a lot of things that this car has in the intouch system, and just more basic options the 5 inch screen shows you your direction, what songs are playing, tire pressure, fuel economy, warnings, average speed and you can put the car in personal, sport, standard, Eco and snow with just a little switch next to the cup holder then go to drive mode selector in the apps for the engine and transmission to make it pair up even better to sport Eco standard or snow. Then go to the driving performance app and see your g forces in every direction fuel consumption and fuel flow, then there's one for just left to right and shows your steering and records it over 20 seconds. another things that's really great is the maintenance notes it has a picture of your car and you can literally make a note of any single part on your car and when to service it with distances dates reminders really it has everything not just your basic tires brakes and oil. This car is going after the 5 series in my opinion and is winning especially with the sport package or get a hybrid and have another 30+ horsepower with better gas mileage.

    In general, I really like Chris Wardlaw's reviews. He is a free-thinker and much more intelligent than most other critics. If I have one complaint, it's that he criticizes aspects to cars that either wouldn't bother me in the slightest, or that I actually like. He can obsess about certain things that are important to HIM. He's obsessed with fingerprints on center screens and soft padded arm rails on driver side door for elbow resting. But overall, I'm addicted to his reviews!

    The base q50 has a standard electric power steering system found in many new cars. The Sport is drive-by-wire. A return to hydraulic power steering, as found in the G37, is rumored.

    I just got my 2014 premium with thec package and i love the DAS. Also, i love the bose sound system. I can't figure why anybody would prefer the regular steering wheel. The DAS is really fast and responsive. I mean, we are not on a track all the time seriously. The DAS is awesome for a regular drive.

    What's the difference between hydraulic steering system and electric steering system?

  • @angel_machariel

    @angel_machariel

    9 жыл бұрын

    The feel. And electric steering system can make the steering feel very disconnected from the earth. An electric though has more options for active intervention when crossing lanes and whatnot. The q50 has tons of options for that. Not saying they work that well. An electric can also shake if the software is intervening too much! Those are the big differences.

    I bought one end of September. AWD non sport with no drive by wire. I drove BMW 328i, Acura TLX, and Lexus IS250. I decided to go with Q50 for many reasons. First off when I was driving it I felt the car was the most comfortable. The power was unreal..I could for sure tell it had 328 HP. Stereo was the best as well..14 speaker Bose. Now..as usual...this is my subjective opinion. I liked all the cars, but this was best for me.

  • @snowshredder102

    @snowshredder102

    9 жыл бұрын

    Don't really think it's fair to compare the power with the IS250 or the 328i, they are both the smaller engines in their lineups. the IS350 and 335i would have been a more accurate comparison, and hopefully you tested the V6 TLX and not the 4 cylinder because I heard that motor is a sleeper. I agree that the Infiniti has a superior sound system though.

  • @danielrn133

    snowshredder102 I have driven an IS350 however not the new one. I just didn't really like the look of the new IS. However I totally get that the reason we have all these cars is because people like different cars. Yes I drove the V6 TLX. I really liked the TLX, but I just felt more comfortable in the Q50. I am 6'3 so maybe that is part of the reason. Guess it is all subjective.

    ok, I realize this is a 4 year old review - but, he complained about the quality of the leather. He is in a care with Leatherette seats... No perforation in the seat, then it is leatherette not leather. He doesn't know what car he is in. Also the Bose system he said "doesn't sound that good" is likely the base 10 speaker system and not the Bose Studio on Wheels.

    The best review I've seen on this car...they copied everything from Audi (Nasser) except the beautiful fashion forward interiors of the newer models. I'd go with the S4 (A4 is not really a sport sedan, just a redressed Golf without 50/50 or RWD; the base of which has a CVT for crying out loud!)

    Am i the only one that thinks this car looks like a fancier Altima on the exterior design cue? And I'm sorry, but I have a '14 Rogue and the instrumentation in the gauges is almost identical except for the color. If I was going to get an Infiniti, I would expect something a lot different. Other than that, I think this car is pretty nice looking and I in no way was knocking on the Altima. I have always liked that car, but I just don't see a huge difference from one. I'd rather get an entirely souped up Altima for the price I would pay for this Q50. :(

    Why do people complain about the lack of leg room especially in the rear seats, when it is a "sports" sedan. Not a touring sedan. The only thing that the Asian import luxury cars bring to the table that the European vehicles don't, is cost to maintain and reliability. In my experience, only the VW's have comparable cost to operation value. MB and BMW although much more forward looking and mechanically isolated. Still, a $600 + a month car payment is a luxury that few can appreciate.

If you have or know someone with a Q50 or Q50 hybrid for the last 10 months and/10,000 miles or more, take a moment to inspect the entire exhaust system for premature rusting. And at this time Infiniti Affairs or not covering the alternative replacement expense. You will have to pay for a new exhaust system. I kid you not.

Sure it isn't as fast at the limit but you'll roughly have the same amount of fun in both cars, but you can pocket that extra ~$10k in savings if you're getting the Q50S.

    As reviews go, this one's pretty crappy. Considering other offerings, there is no earthly reason to get one of these. Inifinitys are overpriced Nissans with curved sheet metal. A friend of mine purchased a 4 year old sedan and the things looked and sounded pretty bad, and it only had normal wear and tear, but the rattles and squeaks, oh dear God, not to mention how cramped it was inside. Just skip it if you have $40K+ to spend. For $42K you get a fully loaded Genesis with AWD.
