2014 F150 Hidden Digital Speedometer

Well, I had this truck over a year and I'm just now finding out about this... also.. I was unclear in the video.. hold the OK button down for 5 secs. And keep it held down as you turn the key to Accessories .. also it makes your blinker chime a little off but the blinkers still operate correctly. Use at your own will and associated risks.. keep your eyes on the road, buckle up, follow the laws.

    Just fyi: this also works on 2015 and up F150s (although the speed readout isnt hidden or anything) and is useful for when the gauges desync from what the pcm is reading. Sometimes, the speedometer will display incorrect information and will read higher or lower than what the speed actually is. Putting it into ETM resets the gauges.

    Neat feature I guess, but not really necessary. I drive a 2011 with the same dash setup and I have no problem reading the guage. My girlfriend's 2016 Chevy Malibu is a different story: the analog guage is angled down, so I need the default digital display to read it easily.

    Depends on the wheels and tires setup you have also. Bought my 5.0 truck with aftermarket wheels and decent size all terrain tires. It averaged 15 mpg. I upgraded to larger mud terrain tires. Now I average 12.5 mpg. 17mpg seems doable on stock wheels and tires. ,and good driving habits of course

    the 2014 ford f150 doesn't display a digital read out of your speed, just the analog which can be incorrect. mine is, i'll have my nuvi on and my speed will be 65 but the speedometer needle will indicate 67 or so. i think ford dropped the ball on that part of the driver information module.

    Cain Nolan I own a 2014 f150 crew cab 6.5 bed 3.5 ecoboost and I average 18mpg which is bs considering since new I never got the window sticker mpg of 21mpg on the highway. But on the bright side towing has never been an issue for me

    Engine size doesn't matter here because the EcoBoost puts out better numbers than the v8 does therefore it would be working "less hard"

    Matt P sorry, but that’s not accurate. The 3.5 ecoboost certainly has more torque and in some applications has more HP as well compared to the 5.0.

  • @cavscout678

    @cavscout678

    Cain Nolan the difference is most likely due to driving conditions. Not only driver habits but what the road is like. In my experience with a 3.5 I’ve been able to get 20 something mpg when the roads are flat or the hills are gentle. When I drive closer to home where I have steep grades to climb in every direction my mpg suffers because the turbos are spooled and results in the motor sucking fuel. Ultimately it’s not so much ecoboost as it is eco or boost.

    It is getting to the point that a Dash Cam is imperative. Viewing the recording while driving is a distraction. The one I use, the Rove, displays a black screen with your date, time, speed, and direction of travel while recording. It is nice to have that to verify my instruments (which are not accurate BTW). And you get video of really idiot drivers.
