The Hairdryer trick works!!! I had this exact probably! The charger said it was charging, but the car didn't beep to indicate that it was charging and there wasn't any kind of indicator on the dashboard. Today is the coldest day we've had since I purchased my Volt and I noticed that there was snow on the ground in your video. The extreme cold must be a factor in why it wouldn't work!!!! AGAIN TRY USING A HAIRDRYER if it's really cold out and it won't charge!!!

Are the same problem with my spark and I just went to a public level 2 charger and then it worked and then went back to my charger and it started working

what state are you in? Was it fixed? I’m in California, my car is barely above 50k miles and is already giving me the message “Unable to charge”. It’s been about 3 times.

Mine was a defective charging port. It was fixed by the dealer I bought it from under Voltec warranty. Some states like mine has a 10 year 150K warranty on the Voltec system in the Volt.

software issue. They reprogrammed charging ctrl.

Same symptom on my 2013 at 56,000 miles. A message also came up.. "Service high voltage charging system." The dealer "reprogrammed it, " replaced no parts and nicked me $300.00. I'm thinking this is the result of diagnostics in the car responding wrongly to aging characteristics of the battery system and they developed a software fix. GM ought to do it free. Another corporate ripoff.

Melissa Wenhold I took a blowdryer to the plug and the receptacle on the car and it worked after that. I think there was some debris blocking the connection.

I initially had a defective charging port. Dealer swapped that even though I was out of initial warranty. Also, my EVSE cable is crapping out. I turned off anti theft because it kept cutting out. If it didn't initially charge I just shake the cable on the ground near the handle, it usually starts charging. Dealer wouldn't fix that issue.

Defective charging port. It was replaced under Voltec warranty.

@@scott9269 thanks. I am from Spain, owner of an Opel Ampera with the same problem. The OBD reports P1EE6 error. I have tried charging in mountain mode and it works, so I discard a battery malfunction. Three weeks ago it happened the same but after plugging and unplugging the charger it worked, but now it is not the case.

My volt gave me 2 miles it charged for 2 hours then it stoped i noticed a red light flashing in the charger what can it be?🤯🤯🤯

I can’t imagine commenting on a 5 1/2 year old video with a conclusion in the comments and that’s the comment you chose to make. People didn’t regularly know in 2017 what was causing this. It is a video documenting a problem.
