Congratulations! If I could afford it I would have the X5 M just for more exclusivity and the extra handling. I agree, the technology in the car is so advance it won’t feel dated and BMW’s styling just seems to age well in general.

This is one of the best 2014 X5 5.0 reviews I've ever seen. Not that it matters, but it's nice to see some other "folks" doing well. I'm self-employed myself, working in the LED light and also the health and wellness industry. I have an older model-- a 2008 with a 3.0 and I can't wait to upgrade. My beautiful red-headed wife thinks I'm obsessive, but I just love fast cars and motorcycles - lol. What I really appreciate is that in the beginning you stated all of the package features included so that we can look for those by name. Very well thought out. You remind me very much of my brother. He's a tech and very methodical. His speed of choice is an Audi S4 that's tuned and ridiculously nice! I'm looking forward to getting my 5.0, and having it tuned to 600 horse. @@aliwarraich5332 the X5 series is not that reliable but is fun to drive. Which is why I bought a BMW. Tight on turns and gives you a acceleration like a sports car. Just buy the extended warranty..

Hello! I’m glad it helped you! I eventually sold that X5 last year, but before I did, my boys enjoyed the third row when we had to use it. My oldest is 13 now (5’1”) I’m sure he would still be able to get back there without problems. I think anyone taller than 5’4“ would have complaints.

My X5 has the same body with a third row but it’s a 35i. The third row is very convenient when you have kids and need additional seating but it’s definitely a just in case situation. Besides the small space shown in the video, the seats have little cushions on the so even young kids get tired seating there in trips that are over an hour.

It depends who is riding back there. Kids. You’ll be fine. If you have adults, they would appreciate the reclining rear seats.

I drive a 2012 RR Sport and have been thinking of upgrading to this model. I'm very impressed with what BMW has done with their technology compared to all other makes. I'm a bit worried on the fix it costs however. Have you owned any previous BMWs and ran into any mechanical issues? Great vid by the way.

How has the RR Sport been treating you? The BMW especially the 2014 and up shouldn’t give you many problems. I’d like to say they do a better than a RR electronic bug wise.

@@eddiemcars I have enjoyed everything about it.......except for the recent 3800.00 I had to shell out to have my alternator, water pump, oil cooler, heater core and the lines replaced. The handling and ride is amazing. No issues yet with the air suspension (knock on wood).

Hey man i love the spec on yours! Only thing different I’d like personally is the dark brown extended leather to break up the black but the all black looks good too. Anyways I’m now in the market for a 14-15 Xdrive50i. Originally only option i wanted was panoramic roof and idk if heated rear seats and dual climate is standard but i want those. But after seeing your video i love the black headliner and i think thats only with the msports. How hard is it to find that? Thanks in advance

Thanks! Yeah I would’ve like to have the Mocha nappa leather option with leather dashboard too. I think it gives a more upscale look in the interior. Good luck with your search, all of the 2014+ X5’s come with a panoramic sunroof. If you can find one with cold weather package it will include heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. Depending on the build some may have it al a carte. Best way I find out is run the vin online kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJuIzpKIfdGenps.html

Those are all good packages. I don’t have dynamic handling package but I do have the adaptive m suspension. I can only imagine how much better the handling would be with the dynamic handling.

You should be able to find nearly everything you want for that price range and less than 50. The problem is time. It took me almost a year but it was worth the wait. Out of the options you listed, dynamic handling is going to be the challenge. You might have to be more open on exterior colors choices. I would check online search engines every Monday and see what people traded in on the weekend.

Hey Do you know what engine is fitted in this model? I know 2016 bmw 7 got updated version of these engines since older ones had some known common faults and apparently updated version is much better Just wondering if x6’s fitted with newer or older versions

It’s the N63TU. The TU is the Technical Update that fixed all of the previous problems. All 2014+ X5 and X6 should have the updated engine. I was a little worried about buying a used one without warranty but it’s been a really good engine so far.

I would check the previous history and see how often it’s been for service. If it’s clean you shouldn’t have much to worry about with reliability. The 14+ received the updated N63 so a lot of those problems were fixed. I drive my 50i aggressively at times and no oil leaks or problems. Depending on where you live the 50i could be too much, for example here in California. But I’m a huge power junkie so I can appreciate the extra power I always have in reserve. Fuel mileage is better than expected. I average 19mpg. I’m able to get 22 mpg if I’m gentle and take full advantage of the EcoPro with start/stop enabled.

Quite the monster SUV.

What package did you get for it to show the speed limit, I have a 2016 m package and it does not have that option?

It took m3 about a year to find it. M Sport, 50i, 3rd row. I used cars.com, autotrader.com, Cargurus.com

Really well done review. How's the drive quality, wind noise, vibration, etc at highway speeds?

I love the way it drives. It handles like a smaller vehicle. I think the way BMW aligns its steering. Every once in a would hear wind noise if driving through some crosswinds, but mostly it’s ok. No vibrations, and it’s completely smooth and quiet. With the torque of the V8, it rarely exceeds 2500 RPMs when regularly driving in traffic. It makes the drive silky smooth with a faint hint of V8 growl. Under medium throttle, it will shift around 3,000 RPMs and leave most regular cars behind while they run their engines to redline... Full throttle.... hold on. It will shove you back. Highway cruising, it’s quiet at all speed. I find the ride compliant. I typically use sport mode. I have complaints from one passenger; they felt comfort was too bouncy like it was trying to smooth out the bumps. Power-wise. I never need to downshift to pass a left lane hog. I imagine a 35d would be similar since they have roughly the same torque. I haven’t driven one or even a 35i.

That’s a tough choice. If you don’t require the space or towing capacity of the X5 I would say the SQ5 is a very fun SUV. I would probably have that if I didn’t have a family of four. The luggage capacity really suffers with the SQ5 but the sound and performance is addictive.

How is the ride quality over rough roads? Interior rattling??

Romas Pasukonis Comfort- it can be kind of floaty. Sport Setting- somewhat choppy over broken pavement but still compliant. I wish it was a little stiffer in sport to be honest. Interior doesn’t rattle but it does have a plastic like sounds when moving around the interior like leaning on the armrest or sitting on the tailgate.

Hey man, I’m looking at buying a 2013 x5 50i but I’m a bit concerned about the reliability of the n63 (I’ve heard lots of things can go wrong). Do you think it’s a good choice to get it and have you had any problems with your x5 Cheers

Joshua Overton I would get at very minimum a 2014+. The early models of the N63 did have their share of problems and although BMW has a customer care package that would fix those things you don’t want to have to deal with the headache. The N63TU is more improved. Check the history, if there’s problems then I would avoid. If there’s routine maintenance then you have a better chance. Good luck!

been looking .Sealed a deal on a 2015 X50i but after a deep dive review yesterday, I decided against that one car. The turbo lag was crazy bad...from 25mph flooring it or from a standstill. Like first 2 seconds nothing....terrible, I assume it was a problem with that one car and not the norm? Needless to say I cant buy it like that

When u say rated 6000 pounds with BMW hitch does that mean yours is rated for less?

Ceelo totheworld at that time I didn’t have a hitch installed. The vehicle itself is rated at 7700 lbs with the proper hitch. However, the BMW hitch from the factory is rated at 6,000 lbs. There are aftermarket hitch options that can take advantage of the full towing capacity of 7700 lbs such as the Stealth Hitch that I installed.

I was thinking of a 2013 RR sport or this one 2014/2015. This one has more technology and is faster than the RR I wanna buy. Reliability is a concern too with the 2013 RR sport, not saying this x5 is camry reliable but it should be better I think. or just keep my 550i and get a used 4runner. I will see.

I considered a 14 RR Sport as well. To get similar or more options I was looking at the Autobiography trim which was rare and expensive. I feel with BMW you get more for your money and the tech is better. I wasn’t too impressed with the supercharged 5.0 in the RR. It made a lot of good sounds but didn’t pull as hard as the X5 50i.
