2013 Lincoln MKS Review - Interesting, or just a curiosity?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Marketed as a brand that's now interesting, the updated MKS now has much to offer though is perhaps still more of a curiosity.
www.autoguide.com/manufacturer...
Known primarily for their luxuriously soft ride and excellent comfort, design and power are two qualities that have not been at the forefront of what goes into a Lincoln vehicle for some time. However, things are changing in the world of this high-class American car manufacturer.

After my Cadillac went to the shop 4 times in 43 days I bought a black on black mks. I should have bought this car in the first place, zero problem. This car is built like a tank, my Cadillac dash started to rattle after a month!

I got rid of my POS Jaguar to buy a 2013 MKS Eco-boost AWD sedan. It's an excellent car! Has more options and standard equipment than a Portfolio Edition Jaguar. I wish I'd of bought the Lincoln first instead of that horrible XF! My 03 S Type was an excellent car, I gave it to my cousin when I bought the XF. He still has it and it's still running great. I didn't have a good experience with the XF! Very, very problematic, I'd spent thousands of dollars for repairs on the POS. My MKS has given me no problems at all with anything. I did add an oil catch can on it. But that's all. I love it and would recommend it!

Just got a 2010 MKS 3.5L Ecoboost. Very similar in a lot of ways. When I say this car is mean and solid! I absolutely love it! I've been driving it for Lyft and I get compliments for it all the time. Mine has a white interior so it really pops! I'm only getting 14.5 MPG but I must admit, it's a little hard to resist mashing the throttle to get ahead of slow traffic and blowing peoples mind with how fast this boat can move! And he's right, it does feel shorter than it actually is but the width is definitely apparent. One of my riders was surprised when I told him it was a 2010, he said it looked like something that's brand new.

@@LXRD-SUPREME- Oh, the car feels indestructible (knock on wood) it's all paid for now and is in better condition than any car I've had before. Paint on the bumper is chipping, and I have a catalyst code that comes and goes every now and then, but it's still a mean rocket ship! I've since added some factory headrest DVD players that appear to be very hard to come across. The one's I have are the only ones I've ever seen online, they were old new stock, and they happened to match my interior! I keep it clean, I keep it running right, and now it's garage kept so I'm even happier to have it.

@@LXRD-SUPREME- Pull the trigger. Get one with low miles if you can, and get one that still runs like new, like I did. I bought my 2010 with 105,000 miles on it, appeared to be well maintained, drove like new when I bought it, now it has 163,000 miles and I still have not yet had to change turbos or water pump/timing chain. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen tomorrow… but I’ve been lucky so far. I have, however had to change the leaking PTU which cost me around $2,100 but that, turbos, and water pump are the only real “gotchas” with the Ecoboost MKS. And they don’t fail often enough to call them “problem parts”. Now, on the newer gen MKS, one thing you will have to worry about is the FCIM I think it’s called, which is the radio/climate control system situation in those cars. They fail often according to owners of newer gen models and they have been hard to source lately. So hopefully you find a MKS that works for now. Don’t be afraid, just try to keep a good $2000-$3000 in your savings account for just in case, if you can, and change the oil and other fluids regularly… the car will treat you good, as long as you started with a good car. They are not problem child’s from my experience and others as well, even with the turbos.

You can get one cheap on eBay for $20-$25 you don't need an expensive one, they all work the same. I have 66k trouble free miles on mine now. Just regular maintenance. If you're looking for one if the last luxury sedans check out the MKS.

I got rid of my POS Jaguar XF Supercharged V8 Portfolio Edition to buy a 2013 Lincoln MKS twin turbo all wheel drive Eco-boost sedan. I wish I'd of bought the Lincoln in the first place! The Lincoln is a much better car and I've had no problems with it at all. If you have one of the Eco-boost engines in a car or truck add an oil catch can. It will help prevent carbon build up on the valves. I'm very happy with my MKS and recommend them. You can still find good pre-owned low mileage cars for 1/2 the price of what they cost new.

2014 UPDATE: The maximum you should be paying for any used MKS or any vintage and equipment is $8,500. The value on these gas-guzzlers have dropped like a lead carriage. Turbo versus non-Turbo. I would not recommend the Turbo ("Ecoboost") engines mess to my worse enemy, however.

I got no money for any of those brands right now. I do however work for a Lexus dealership (and we got other cars here too) at the moment and let me tell you those cars are so damn plush and luxurious. That being said Lincoln seems to be on the prowl, that interior looks good and the styling outside is unique. Haven't had a chance to actually sit in a Lincoln but Lexus blows Mercedes, BMW, Acura, Infiniti, and Cadillac out of the water when it comes to comfort. IMO of course...

Exactly right. The "by touch" controls are totally useless in these MKS anomalies. When you are wearing gloves, when it is humid, when your fingers are set, when your fingers are cold, as after cleaning off ice and snow, and so on -- you cannot control diddley squat in this allegedly "luxury" car. Daniel Blaney Agreed. Just got a 2011 ecoboost awd with panoramic sun roof for $20.5k (a great deal that I could not pass up). I'm 6'4" tall, and I have plenty of headroom even with the seat up. I like the waterfall grill more than the mustache. I've heard that the current dash controls for the radio and climate control (as shown in the video) are not as easier to use. The only external sign that it's the higher horsepower version is the ecoboost emblem (which has already lost it's black paint. why can't ford create emblems that last?). It's a sleeper.

Keyless entry? Push start technology? So what? Other had these things at least 10 years earlier. A bit late to the luxury sedan party, are we now, Lincoln? Touch technology instead of buttons, dedicasted dials? Only the cheapest econo-misers should have that, Dear Lincoiln. How can a power telescoping steering be "automated"? And why should it be? Dual sunroofs? Why are they "great"? Are you looking at the stars and the Sun while you're driving, or what the hell for? A car going for upwards of $55,000 -- "feels short"? What a rip-off, Man. What's next a Lincoln Smart?

Really nice car now, bad history and allot like the taurus. Put a starting price of 35,000 and it'd be a good deal.

Comfort? My head hits the roof of this car with the seat all the way back and down and the back in a near laying down position -- it's not even close and I'm not even that tall.... easily the worst designed car I've ever sat in.

UGLY! Exorbitant money for a glorified Ford Taurus. Even though it didn't take a bailout, Ford still needs to embrace RWD on a more widespread basis. This thing can't come close to a CTS-V by being stuck with that shit-heap Ford calls EcoBoost.
