2013 Infiniti FX50 Test Drive & Luxury Crossover Video Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

www.autobytel.com/infiniti/fx5... The 2013 Infiniti FX50 is the top of the line when it comes to luxury crossovers from Japan. The FX50 and FX37 have been around for a number of years and these 2 vehicles are differentiated by their engines. The FX50 has a 5.0 liter V-8 engine making 390 horsepower while the FX37 is powered by a 3.7 liter V-6 making 325 horsepower. The 2013 Infiniti FX50 has a base price of $61,400.
Another big element to these sporty luxury crossovers is the styling. The Infiniti FX has always had a love it or leave it presence due to its aggressive and bold exterior design. On the inside the FX50 has good functionality and utility. The cargo room is adequate and the rear lift gate is automatically controlled. The interior space in the rear may be a bit small but this vehicle is a crossover and not a large SUV.
The interior features tons of luxury amenities. The seats are leather and the trim is a lovely maple wood. The technology on the Infiniti is cutting edge with tons of safety equipment like: around view monitor, distance control technology, and intelligent brake assist to name a few. The sound system is also a top notch BOSE unit. This is a high end luxury car and you will get treated like royalty by your Infiniti dealer.
Driving the 2013 Infiniti FX50 is impressive. This luxury crossover can go from 0-60 MPH in a little over 5 seconds which is amazing. The steering is tight and the suspension firm which makes for a wonderfully agile vehicle.

I work at an Infiniti dealership, and seeing this things day in and day out with varying degrees of wear and tear, so we have more than our fair share of complaints. The two things we don't complain about is the transmission and engine. Those are things Infiniti has done right. With my highway experience in a G37 (haven't driven an FX50 on the highway), Drive and Drive Sport are two very different animals. In Drive, the transmission assumes you don't want to piss away all your gas all the time and will try to look for the highest gear possible, hence the long "hunt" from 7-5-2. In Drive Sport, it's the polar opposite, keeping the engine revved, ready for you to put the hammer down. There is also manual mode as well, so if you know you want second gear going 45, you can drop it into 2nd and gun it. Knocking the transmission because you don't know how to use it is pretty weak.

I agree with you i have a g37 and for the most part I always keep my card and Sports Mall once in awhile put on a manual and I definitely love the way the transmission response

I thought exactly the same thing. My Q40 will do a little 'hunt' when in normal drive mode, but that's ok. If i want sport driving i just click the shifter to the left and from there i can leave it or choose a gear. It will even anticipate me braking hard for a turn, rev match, downshift and pour me into that turn. Friggen awesome! This reviewer seems like a total idiot.

People always complain about the transmission on this car but seem to ignore the paddle shifters. Yes the transmission will search for gears when in auto mode because auto mode is basically eco mode. Same thing with my automatic 370z. However, go into manual mode with paddle shifters and it automatically drops a gear and gets more aggressive, if you know the RPM range of your car you know which gear to go in. This car was clearly designed with this in mind. You can also get someone to tune the automatic to be more aggressive if you like but simply switching the manual works just fine.

Sport mode eliminates it as well in the non-paddle shift ones. My G37 coupe hunts in regular but slide the shifter to the left and let the tranny do the work and it shifts pretty quickly.

This car is so advanced for a '13! It has rear active steering as well as the moving headlights, AND paddle shifters! Name another Crossover that is reliable as Infiniti with these options. And the dependability is very good, while maintenance costs are low. I have a '10 FX35 as modified as possible with Z1 but I will be getting the '13FX50S next. The tranny in my 35 def needs more pull from the start but thanks to the Uprev tune and mods it gets moving quick enough.

What a of owner's or leader's don't know there is a sport mode on the FX for years 2009 and up. To engage sport in which this person/tester did not know. After starting vehicle put transmissions in the normal drive position then move same gear selection to the left ''that's it'' and floor it or drive normal; do not + or - gear selector transmission will automatically on it's own in sport mode with greater power and down shift, up shift rev-matching.

First off anyone who thinks that the G37 averages 22 mpg is out of their mind (Gregory Jones). I owned one. Try 17mpg in the city. As for this review and the comments on the transmission and the reviewers comments about the "disconnect" infiniti has in it's design... well... the only disconnect is in the video reviewers lack of proper research and knowledge of the car. Try sport mode. Lastly you looked pretty foolish complaining about the rear seat when you had the front seat all the way back. That's just absurd.

The car is an automatic, it was not MADE to use the paddles, the paddles are for you to get a little feel as if you are driving a manual, to give a little control over gear selection. So you're saying if you are not using the paddles the car just wont work properly right "that's how they made it right". the trans should deliver power efficiently as soon as you call for it, no delays, the car cost too much for that, no mistakes, no delays, needs improvements.

if your cruising it will probably be in 7th-8th gear. let's say you need to overtake or don't you floor it? or let's say you're in this expensive luxury sporty powerful car in you just want to have some fun with all this power, don't you floor it? EVERYONE FLOORS IT. what are going to do, slow down so it goes to 1st-2nd gear then floor it? Point is, the transmission is supposed to respond instantly and efficiently to deliver the power as soon as you call for it.
