    I just have that code p0017 on a 08 Cadillac CTS 3.6 just bought it , had oil life 5% then reset it its now on 75% oil life haven’t changed oil. I’ve cleaned spark plugs , air filter , noticed a rubber ignition coil boot has partial tears and was stuck to spark plug had to use needle nose to take out

    yeah , doubt oil change will help, only reason I say it on this vid was the owner of this car bought it new and after all this time, this was it's 1st oil change! Not good, And my answer to your issue is not good! Cadillac possible needs timing chain replacement! for the chain has stretched and cam and crank are off timing as a result causing this code for you? I hate to say a sensor prob won't fix it either, how many miles? I'd say you can try new cam and crank sensor but chances will be you need timing chain replaced

    Had couple beers lol my bad just read how I put the the sentence lol I research a lot most peeps say it is timing chain guides, or chain stretches, or camshaft acuator, sum said they changed all chain, solienods , n still check engine.

    very true on engines with cam exhaust/intake variable timing solenoid sensors, why it is important not to let oil gunk up like this, But if changing oil and sensors don't fix it though it's an issue in the timing correlation at worst depending on miles, it could be out of sync from timing chain stretch

    I have a 2015 kia forte with a 1.8 that has a p0017 code The engine runs fine with no codes and then when the engine warms up you can see The exhaust cam phasers not keep it's required position on the Scan tool then you see that the engine will start to stumble and die you have to keep your foot on the gas peddle to keep The engine running and you can see the Scan data for the intake phaser it keeps it's required position The person who owns The car did put lot's of oil in the engine about 6 mounths before this incident and The engine does have 130k on the odometer. I am going to change The exhaust cam phaser and that should fix The code and the stumble of The engine.

    At 61 years of age and owning a used car dealership for 36 years, I could see the righting on the wall, when Kia and Hyundai were pushing out these cars to anyone with a pulse." You just cant fix stupid". A 2013 Hyundai Elantra in this condition now is virtually a total loss. Just look at the inside as well. Could you imagine what there house, Scratch that. (apartment) looks or even smell like. Reason I'm ranting, Just purchased this exact same vehicle with same issue. Paid $2,000.00 for a 2013 vehicle with code P0017. Used Seafoam to flush the motor. Replaced oil with Amsoil Signature synthetic 5w-20w. Problem solved

    Hate to say the worse, but timing belt or chain has stretched just enough or the tensioner and chain guide has worn enough to throw the code, or a pin on new sensor is bent and skipping it in the wire harness, I've done it a few times, plugged the wire back to it but bent a pin and didn't realize it

    @@RANS87IROCZ Guy said since I changed out the VVT solenoids earlier today, it seems to be driving much smoother. My main problem before was poor acceleration, especially at low speeds from a stop. It wasn't terrible when I was already cruising at like 40 or 50 miles per hour and maybe once every couple weeks when I come up to a stop sign of red light it would lose power and then I would just turn the key and it would start right back up

    Hello same issue as mine.... came to shop cant start throw code P0017 timing correlation this engine new overhaul, i open timing cover timing is right. Change new crank and cam sensor still same. New oil also still same. Do you have any idea sir.....

  • @RANS87IROCZ

    @RANS87IROCZ

    Check the wiring if can with power prob and see if it lost ground or connection, or follow the wiring making sure no breaks anywhere, not sure but assuming location and knowing you have timing cover you still can't see the sensors or reluctor ring, but could be that internal ring is messed up, that's rare. But anything is possible and if timing is out the slightest it will cause this code so you are in right direction though pain in the ass to go all through just to find out its okay, but if you rule out timing and the sensors only other is the wiring and that ring inside
