Deanthony Thomas was legitimately the fastest man in college football at the time he played. I've always noticed that his running style is different than many people. He literally does have another gear.

It's the perfectly tight and fast arms you're taught by any proper sprinting coach. Keeps weight as optimally balanced left to right while pushing forward and the ability to pump hands faster has proven to allow faster stride as well

Oregon literally dominated this game from start to finish.

First play became iconic immediately. Still see kids cross the end zone with the sprinter finish just like De’Anthony did. Super cool stuff.

The days we had Dion Jordan, kiko Alonso, Kenyon barner, josh huff, la Michael James, de Anthony and nick allotti those were the days

I'm in the K-State band, and we always play the Wabash Cannonball on kickoffs, and I remember watching the Oregon player run all the way back, and our band director made us stop playing, and I was just thinking "well, we had a great season." lol

Tyler McComb I was at the game I have always been a KSU and Bill Snyder supporter. The KSU students fans handled themselves in a very classy and dignified fashion. Unfortunately, that cannot be said about other teams Oregon has played. KSU, great school and program.

Im an oregon fan and it was a good game, kansas just couldn't find a way to deal with oregons speed, both teams still had a great season

Remember watching this on TV having chills after that first run. Here for Great memories! GODUCKS

I still wish this was the first playoff season. Ducks with Mariota vs Bama (after thrashing the Golden Domers) the very next weekend would have been stupendous!!!!

I remember I had raced Thomas in the 100m at an Oregon track meet just prior to this game. I was in the lane right next to him, and though I matched his speed about 1/4 of the way into the race, his freak acceleration out of the blocks blew us all out of the water. I think he ran 10.12 that day ...

Thank's for posting. I love the opening return. At the 6-yd line (DAT throttle at 70%), at the 22-yd line (DAT throttle at 90%), at the 40-yd line (DAT throttle advanced to military power, full afterburner); 6-yd line, through traffic to the end-zone in 12-seconds!

If both of these teams didn't choked earlier in the season this would've been the BCS championship game.

Nobody outside the SEC could lay a finger on Alabama that year, which is why they deserved to be champs. Still tho, I would’ve like to see Wildcats vs. Irish in 2012

There has never been as shocking first 12 seconds of a BCS playoff game as there was in this game. 8 - 0. The expressions of the gal KSU fans at 0:41 and 0:52 are priceless.

Aww, they skipped the one-point safety explanation. I was watching this game live with my friends and realized what it was as soon as it happened, and everyone else thought I was full of shit. The only reason I knew was because I had seen it before way back in the Texas vs. Texas A&M game in 2004. The only reason I remembered it was because it was such a weird ruling.

Oregon has a very good d. They led the Luca with 40 forced turnovers last year. They don't stop yardage like Alabama but they get the ball back for their offense very effectively.

I never mentioned Stanford did I. I mentioned Kansas States weaknesses, which were exploited by Oregon, and that Kansas State would have matched up better (on paper) against Alabama than they did against Oregon. Speed is not everything in football, I agree, but in the case of Kansas State, they did not have enough of it. They have a big offensive line, that is not very fast, that Oregon exploited. Defensively K-State stood toe to toe with Oregon, but was worn down by the speed of their offense.

At Oregon (and if I remember correctly) DeAnthony was a sprinter on the track team. He runs like it. But notice the kickoff blocking and how he watches the blocks and then moves to the opening. BOOM! Bring back gang green!
