great video, love the idea. I started a challenge to see how long i could make $5 in gas last... so far, i'm at 2 months burning .1 gallons and 9000 miles

If you're a hyper miler, you get about 20 miles when the final gas bar goes away. The last bar also goes away when you have 0.6 gallons left

I missed how you switch to gas mode when on the freeway...Please advise.

On 2013 and later, hold mode exits, that mode forces the car to maintain the same charge as when the mode was enabled, effectively forcing the car to run off the ice. There are ways with apps to enable this on older years, with the help of a smartphone and a car dongle

Just in case you don't know you are supposed to only use TopTier approved gasoline in the Volt 2011-2016. I did not see anything about Thorntons that showed they did. Only a year ago did CostCo start selling TopTier gas. Sams club does not. For the full list: www.toptiergas.com/licensedbrands/

As soon as you start burning gas you need to rotate your dial to the Trip odometer and then hold down the dial to reset the trip odometer. Then watch your current trip MPG readout. It's possible to get 42-45MPG. If you are not a very effecient driver you'll see mileage as low as 32MPG. Your recent burn rates are memorized by the car and used to calculate and display your estimated total range. This learning experience will further your cause to go months without having to fill up the tank. Also just to let you know when you get down to about 0.5 to 1.0 gals left in the tank, the card starts nagging you to get gas. I could've driving the card for 2 more weeks on just the battery, but because of the nagging, I ending up getting gas the next day.

No, it's actually comfortable and compliant. Any video shakiness is due more to my crappy mount than the car itself.
