That car sounds exactly like our 2012 CR-V lol. Congrats! I think I might get a 2.4 as my first car

I sat in a 2.0L ILX w/tech package. The interior was nice, and the exterior was decent for what it was. Before I sat into one I always thought the 2.4 was the way to go, but I think I can live with the 2.0L ILX.

You are absolutely right, there was no need to have two hot hatches in the fleet

Good looking gauges and a great sounding 4 cyl in typical honda fashion... though I miss the old honda starter and chime.

$26,500 actually, at that price, this car was a steal and at $2,000 more than the Si with NAVI, it was worth the cost in my eyes :)

Sofyan has already criticized me on this point. I don't think a strict price is the only factor, but it should be a part of the process. I'm aware that dealers negotiate the selling price, and it varies from place to place. But if we're comparing it should be apples to apples. The latest Jetta went downhill in quality, but I think they've learned their lesson as Honda did with the 2012 Civic. The upcoming Mk7 Golf/GTI/R look to be class leading in build/materials quality and refinement.

The weather here has been really cold and windy again... we are most likely going to wait to film the ILX until probably next month. I want to get the window tinted and wait until the car has at least 600 miles on it. Don't worry, it will be worth the wait ;)

You'll love it. My ILX 2.4 is a real blast to drive - energetic and fun, while also being grown up and classy. I'm also getting very good fuel economy!

i'm glad you got one... many reviewers have said this car has one of the BEST manual transmissions on the market over like everything today. so itll be interesting to see it. and honestly im just not a fan of the new jetta even the GLI is pretty overhyped. they make it like "WELL WE ADD PADDING ON THE DASH IF YOU GET SE AND ABOVE" VW is supposed to be a premium brand, i feel like the jetta is just down and out on standard tech as well as other stuff. PLUS, you have the better GTI already lol

The 2.4 6MT comes in at $30k (without navi). That's a lot for an improved Civic. The GLI 6MT Autobahn with navi is about a thousand less.

Congrats! I was actually considering the ILX, WRX, and Focus ST. I ended up with the ST, but I can see why you chose the ILX. Good times o: Looking forward to your personal review of your ILX.

I can tell you this, the ILX feels completely different from a Civic, especially in this 2.4 trim. The interior just gives off a premium feel, the ride is much quieter and smoother, and the presence the car gives you is a step above. There are some things I would change but I'll wait to mention that in the full review :P

base 2.0 have decent acceleration? current cars im looking at is the 2.5 golf with sunroof convenience, ford focus 5door and Subaru Impreza. I test drive all of those I've listed, but I'm also interested in the ILX.

Also though some preferred the acura, I guess more would put a the ilx against the verano turbo or gli? since the buick and acura are both lux compacts. I think the base engine for the ilx should have a more powerful engine. I like the Ilx. is the base engine worth looking at? or only the 2.4?

The ILX may be small, but it's far from weak. It actually weighs roughly the same as a Civic Si therefore, the performance is about the same at 6.5-6.8 secs to 60. The 6 speed shifter is nothing short of sublime and the sound of the engine gets your blood pumping. The Accord is way too big, I don't need the space, the engine is just too quiet, and it seems too mature. I also do not want a coupe since the GTI is, and the 4 door isn't available with a stick in EX-L trims.

Because price is the be all end all? Remember that price is the MSRP, the dealerships will throw in their own discounts and you can negotiate the price especially if you're making a cash purchase. I'm not a fan of new VWs, they seem a lot cheaper inside than the older ones. The only recent VW I like is the R32 *drool*.

I am just thinking again... If Honda had gotten there acts together in 2012 and release the same quality Civic of 2013 and 2012 and have this ILX released in 2012... some of us could save some money. I don't understand what was the delay of the 2012 Civic quality and 1 year later the ILX.
