@@TheMontagGarage I went to ford they said I loosened the bolt too much which completely disengaged the latch so it won’t stay in that position at all. Need to remove the entire latch from the door and manually reengage it

Thank you for the video. Does the T27 screw come out if you keep unscrewing it once the door handle is free? I ask because I need to replace the lock cover on my Fusion but the screw holding the door handle and lock/lock cover is stripped.

I do know that the lock cover for drivers side clips on, no need to loosen the set screw. Unless you're removing the lock base in which case you would need a new door handle reinforcement on the inside of the door, I reckon I have a video on it

Thanks for the reply. I watched the door latch removal video, seems like a bit of a pain. Luckily I do not need to do that. I had tried installing the replacement cover myself, and it was difficult to get on. It seemed like i was going to break it trying to push it on. I ended up taking it to the dealership to install as it was part of the purchase deal (that cover took 6 months to get, not due to part shortage but incompetence on the dealers side). They installed it as you described but the cover is a bit crooked and part of the metal clip on the door lock is sticking out past the cover. The rest of the covers are flush. That lead me to believe it was done incorrectly so I started looking up how to do it myself.

I am having trouble getting the handle back on. I have backed out the bolt in the side of the door but when I go to put the handle back in, it doesn't go back behind the latch. It's almost like you have to push the latch out to get the handle to go behind it.

I mentioned in the video to specifically not back that bolt all the way out.. it controls a set bracket in the door handle reinforcement. Once you backed it all that way out you're either gonna need to get extremely handy and meticulous with a pick or take the entire door apart

Do anyone know how to protect door handle cup paint? Cause i see there is no rubber seal under the handle, my door handle alredy scrachet paint till i can see metal already

What do I do if I didn't hold the handle out and the screw came all the way out?

You will have to either get handy with a pick or remove the entire door latch reinforcement and physically hold down the metal retaining clip while tightening and or loosening the set screw and at this point you may uave damaged your reinforcement and me be better off buying a new one if you cant get it to work. Good luck

have a question. We are looking for the door handle key cap, the end part of the handle for our 2019 ford fusion, black. We just called the dealership and they said you cannot buy it painted???????? Is this true? Can you get this part already painted if you give them your vin# and they know the color?

Unfortunately they are correct, it will not come painted but inexpensively you can get it painted from either the dealership or a body shop

I had a question can you make another video where you actually show what your doing rather than being zoomed in to the paint job and not showing anything your explaining😂😂
