This is great. Do you mind making a short instruction video for the people who have the flip up dash screens (i.e. 2013 Lexus CT 200h)? Thank you. Second question: is this appleplay set up not Bluetooth compatible?’ Do you always have to use the usb connection? Thank you ahead of time for all your help and ingenuity. My infotainment feels so out dated these days... it has been driving me crazy.

Still looking for a local CT to make video off of. Will have it up as soon as we can. This Apple CarPlay is a wired only solution.

If you’re playing music in pandora or Spotify, do the steering wheel buttons for next and previous track still work?

oohlio steering wheel buttons for next and previous track will no longer work. However you will be able to use the top and bottom arrows for next and previous track if you have those buttons next to your mouse. Or you can change it on the screen itself

I have a few questions: How much does something like this run total (product and installation)? Also - if there are updates done on the phone ios will the carplay still be able to read it? Does the carplay software require or allowed updates as well?

Product is currently on sale for $499. It will be raised to $599 end of September. If any phone updates in the future makes our device to not work properly, we will be sending you a firmware via email to load on a USB stick, which you will plug into the USB port your phone was connected to and the firmware will update. Carplay software from Apple does get updates from time to time. There will be a major update to iOS13 very soon. This kit has already confirmed to work with iOS13 as well.

Does that carplay only use specific Apps that from the video? Or can I use other apps if regular carplay support other apps based on ios?

It will use all apps that are compatible with carplay and installed on your phone

After installation, will CarPlay auto load when connected to the USB. Or do you have to route to aux, and hold down menu every time?

You will have to route to aux and hold the menu down every time. You won’t have to reselect aux if you were already on aux

So you can’t have this CarPlay system and smartphone mirroring at the same time? I’m just trying to figure out which one I’d want more. My main goal is to be able to watch movies and KZread. As well as use Waze on the big screen of my 16 gs350 f sport. Thanks guys!

Yes, you can have both CarPlay system and smartphone mirroring at the same time. All you will need to an RCA audio switcher to switch the audio output between Carplay and Smartphone mirroring.

You may chose what screen you would like to show on the screen area not occupied by carplay. Just like how you would do on the native screen.

How do you go about updating the software? Given that IOS and Android are constantly updating there versions like the new IOS 15 / Android 12. Alway does this support apps like Netflix to run ?

Software will update with your phone. Carplay and android auto does not support Netflix

Did this Gs have factory Nav? If not will it show split screen with a 2015 Gs that has factory nav? Will the volume show on the HUD since it won’t show on the screen?

This one did not have nav. For 2015 it will show split screen. If you have the hud feature and it usually shows volume then you will see the volume on hud even after you install this

Where you mount the modules, the car i'm working on has a module (factory) already there... anyone else run into this issue? Where did u mount the mod's?

Does it still work in a 2014 Gs350 F sport? Not sure if the trim matters or not. Also, will the steering wheels functions still work properly while in Apple car play? Like the volume and will the voice command button be Siri?

Yes it works for 2014 GS, all trims. Steering wheel functions still work properly. Voice command button is locked to Lexus system and won’t work with Siri

You may do so by replacing your radio and purchasing an Apple Carplay ready headunit.

You mention that you don’t need an external microphone anymore for Toyota’s. How does this work? Do you have to be always connected via Bluetooth to the factory system? If so, then how will calls route through CarPlay? It also would be annoying to have to connect by Bluetooth and usb all the time to have full functionality.

Mister Koll correct you do not need an external microphone for Toyotas. Yes you will need to be connected via Bluetooth from your phone to the vehicle. The calls will route through the factory Bluetooth. Being connected via Bluetooth to the vehicle is automatic as most customers have their phones connected to their vehicles via Bluetooth as a default. Connecting your phone via usb is what many customers do already for charging their phones

Beat-Sonic thanks for the quick response! Then how is it always ready for “hey Siri”? Also wouldn’t the Siri invocation take longer as it always does with the factory system? Can you still initiate calls from the CarPlay side?

Mister Koll the carplay device is always listening for the “hey Siri” command through the factory microphone. It may take an additional second for Siri to respond to your command. Yes you can still initiate calls from the Carplay side Which will automatically switch both microphone and audio to the factory Bluetooth system once a call is made.

Mister Koll correct. Instead it has a mic cable that is integrated to the main harness which connects to the factory mic, which will have to be plugged into the carplay box

Have you updated/fixed the Android Auto system? I have a 2016 GS350 w/ Navigation package (the larger screen). Will it work on the car? If yes, I will be buying it ASAP.

@@BeatSonicUS so I got the unit and installed it. It works - the only issue is that AA looks stretched compared to AC. AC looks much more optimized and crisper. The settings are based on what the instruction manual said. Any way to get AA screen to be normal (not stretched out and slightly blurry) ?

William Lo I apologize, I should have explained myself better. After the new Android update all the glitches has fixed itself. We learned that the glitches were actually on the application itself and not our unit. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

2013-2016 GS will be split screen and 2017-2019 Lexus GS with nav will support full screen. This is due to the actual hardware of Lexus screens.

Hi Proto, The biggest difference is IF-04 Mirroring will mirror what you see on your phone to your screen while controlling what you see with your phone. There is an option from Samsung to use your phone as a touchpad with this. With Android Auto, you will no longer use your phone to control but car's joystick and buttons. However with Android Auto you will not be able to mirror your phone and see videos such as KZread. Here are more details with Android Auto: www.android.com/auto/

So, if I used your if04ep but with my phone and Android Auto app active, I would get almost the same thing, but would still need to use my phone's touch screen instead of the Lexus joystick? And with your new gadget (in the above video), I gain the use of my car's Joystick to control Android Auto? That's an interesting and maybe difficult choice to make.

If you are planning to strictly use Android Auto, I suggest getting this unit instead of IF-04EP as your screen will automatically change to Android Auto once you plug your phone into the device, whereas with IF-04EP you will have to load Android Auto manually every time. In addition, the picture quality from this device will be sharper than with IF-04EP. And yes, you will also be able to use factory controls with this device whereas with IF-04EP you will have to use the phone to control what is being mirrored. If you are wanting to use for Videos IF-04EP would suit you better. If for Android Auto, this kit is better.

@@BeatSonicUS Would you talk more about the screen resolution? I saw a comment Beat-Sonic made on your site that says that older Lexus (like my 2013 RX with Nav) have 1280 x 480 screens, so the RCA for video requires down converting HDMI to the lower res of the Lexus screen.

That is correct, IF-04EP will down convert from HDMI to RCA. When watching Videos you will not notice that the resolution is inferior. However, when using map applications such as Google Maps you will notice degradation. This kit however, will use GVIF input and will display higher quality image so even Google maps will show clearly as compared to the image quality on your phone.

I just installed this system and it works perfect, I do have one question, there’s a low pitch wind noise behind the audio, any way to fix that??
