    One * NOTE * of caution ! While as Meyn states the 2016 ES model's exterior has minor visual improvements it is NO longer being assembled in Japan. The first three model years (ie; '13 thru '15) were made in Japan. Ask Scotty Kilmer as he insists that the vehicles built in Japan are infinitely better than the vehicles assembled in the U.S. 🚘🔍. Hope this helps Yo ! 🤔

    Some early 16 models were still produced in japan because the factory in kentucky wasn't ready yet. Good luck finding one but a few do exist. I have a 15 and would never consider trading it for a brand new Nissan Versa.

It has worse fuel economy and slightly higher operating costs with more expensive tires/brakes and premium fuel. ES is more roomy, more comfortable, more quiet, gets better gas mileage and cheaper to maintain.

    Great video, really appreciate the time and effort put into different ways to finance a vehicle. Also want to emphasize one of your points: as someone who runs older cars, while you tend to save quite a bit of money up front purchasing something 5+ years old, even something as perfectly reliable as an ES still will have extra maintenance just due to aging of the vehicle. You have to have separate money to handle whatever comes up, the good news is that these issues usually are not immediately critical. And I love the new Corolla! Truly hard to beat.

  • @MeynMotorGroup

    @MeynMotorGroup

    I really appreciate your kind words my friend thank you! I agree I love the new Corolla, it looks great, drives well, and real world fuel economy is phenomenal. But yes with a used car you will still have depreciation, tire replacement costs, little maintenance items here and there, and if a repair is needed, well that can def add to the costs as well. Car ownership is just very expensive no matter how you look at it, used cars, new cars, finance, lease everything has a cost it's very difficult to win. Buying a new eco car with a discount and paying cash would be ideal but I understand not everyone can do that which is why I take the time to share the various ways of buying so viewers can be armed with as much info as possible.

    New ES will come with full factory warranty so nothing to worry about. AutoCompanion offers 6% off MSRP and if you lease you can take advantage of low interest rates and an additional 2k off in the form of a lease incentive so leasing a new one is a no brainer and it is what I recommend to just about everyone.

    Great overview. Watching this 7 months later. New Corolla interest rates in Canada are 7.5-8% anyway, and I can barely fit in a Corolla. Not the best alternative. The Corolla SE is about twice the price here and the FWD one is a bit bad in the winter. The AWD one is over CAD $40K. I found a few of these and I'm stepping down from a 500hp tuned Audi A6, which I will miss big time. I want to basically save money and reduce maintenance and repair costs.

    Those are some great Nissans my friend super happy you got to experience & own a 280z & 300z. They def had CVT issues in the early 2000s... but so did Honda with their V6 automatic combo & even manuals! But I just never understood why Honda never got the same level of scrutiny it's like Honda used some sort of witchcraft on the public to erase everyone's minds 😅 I showed an example in the reliability section of this vid of an unfortunate situation where an owner of an ES had their transmission take a dump on them, new transmission would have cost him $8k. So sad when that happens but that's just the risk one has to take with these used cars

The 88 accords did well.. my 93 Civic is still on the road via another owner.. but Honda became overly complicated and 3 of my friends had Acuras and their transmissions had that 1 gear issue.. I have an 08 Avalon.. transmission is very smooth.. I've never heard of a 6 speed toyota taking a dump.. and I have 2 Toyota Mechanics next door.. I also have a 14 Avalon.. my Mom has a 16 avalon.. her old 97 Avalon I'd still on the road with no issues.. one of our friends has a mid 90s Lexus LS and no transmission issues.. no leather issues.. but anyhow I'm thinking to upgrade the 08 Avalon.. considering a 16-18 es 350... the video was very good

    @@seandavis2520 yea I’ve never really heard of Toyota/Lexus transmission issues this owner just got very unlucky. These Avalons/ES cars are pretty solid one of the few cars where I probably wouldn’t even buy a warranty for. Hondas got super complicated a new Honda is basically a lease and dump machine now. There was an owner with a 2019 Accord who documented a whole slew of issues with his car. Some of which the dealer totally ignored or said was normal. Crazy stuff. I also know of a Mercedes Master tech with benzes that have over 300k miles and not a single issue. Used car reliability can be all over the place.

Just like the oil sludge problem was a Toyota/Lexus engine design flaw. All vehicles I've had from 90s to current day have had a sunroof and no leaks. All vehicles are kept close to or over 200k before gotten rid of.

    The world might call you weird and tell you to focus your options but I completely understand, having your options open to something like a 4Runner is good as the 4Runner has excellent resale value, practical, and really fun to drive. 4Runner just has so much character and feels like a tank on the road. See my full review of the 4Runner I did you can search the channel it was a 2022. Downside of the 4Runner is obviously fuel economy but it's also slow when you're driving it half throttle around town like a normal human trying to chauffeur other people smoothly, you really have to floor it to get up and going so that can be unrefined. It's of course noisier than a luxury car but not in a bad way, again it adds to the character. Crash test safety isn't that great with the 4runner either due to the age of the platform. ES is a nice nimble vehicle but has no where near the character of the 4Runner but will feel quicker and smoother around town and performs pretty well in a crash test. It's only FWD and can't fold down the rear seats so not as practical. I personally would like a 4Runner or Lexus GX over the ES. Jim on the Leasehackr forum is offering like 6k-7k off on new 4Runners (will have to pay broker fee and have it shipped from PA) and AutoCompanion who I'm partnered with is offering 12% off msrp + $2500 in lease credits for a new GX (will have to pay broker fee and have to ship it from D.C.)

    I work in the insurance industry, in not life but property and casualty, I can absolutely assure you that loans from life policies have to be paid back. Essentially, you have to keep on making premium payments for the term of the policy, if the loan isn’t paid back then what’s left is just the limit with the loan amount taken out and then if by any reasons the terms of the policy were to be voided then you can potentially make your family liable for your loan.

  • @MeynMotorGroup

    @MeynMotorGroup

    Thanks so much for your valuable insight my friend! I personally got one of these WL “investment” policies from an agency that does not offer various property insurances. You’re absolutely right, premiums must be paid that’s a must. Regarding the loans, I do not have to pay them back as long as the interest does not accrue past the value of the policy then the policy would lapse so def need to at least pay interest. But in general, you should try and pay loan for sure. From what I understand, brokers would need to take a substantial cut on their commission to make the policy worthwhile for the client to get immediate access to 70-90% of their cash.

    @@MeynMotorGroup My pleasure! I don’t have so much experience with life insurance, as they are usually separate, so take what I say with a grain of salt. In general, insurance policies are never considered an investment, rather you are paying a premium to hedge a risk, in this case death. If it was an investment, then no companies would offer it as they would have all gone out of business. Taking a loan from your life insurance could be more advantageous in some situations, but not for everyone, and this would typically be more attractive to a senior citizen who don’t have any direct beneficiaries. Otherwise, most ‘rich people’ that actually finance their vehicles do it through their mortgage or a securitized loans on investments.

    My daughter just bought the Lexus ES 350. She saved her money for a year and got a 2013 with 158,000 for $9,800. Brand new this car was 36,000. 11 years old lost $26,000 in value down to $10,000 basically. So in theory because these engines are known to go 400,000 miles plus she can get 259,000 plus for 10k. You can’t beat that deal mile to dollar for cost at this stage of the cars life. Save 10k buy this car or that Avalon or Rav or even the Highlander. This is the motor they all have. Toyota accidentally made another one you can’t kill.

    I dont really agree that most people should be cycling through cars every 2-3 years and thus dont really agree with the encouragement to lease vehicles. If you want to save money you should be more focused on maintaining your vehicle so you can get many years of use out of it.

    Time, Quality of life, & safety are also aspects of this where putting a dollar value on is difficult but individuals can come to their own conclusion on that. I just don't want people to clench their cheeks when they see a 6 figure car rolling down the road because I've shown multiple times how to put that 6 figure car on the driveway for $600 a month. I don't believe any of the cars had the brake hold function but they all should come with a CD Player. If the VIN starts with J it is made in Japan. I'm happy you found the information valuable my friend but I'm def not one to start a finance channel, plenty of wealthy people doing a better job than I ever could. But I can help point you in the right direction, Chris Naugle & Wealth Without Wallstreet are two great resources to check out. These guys have no idea who I am I just like learning from them. I never want to take responsibility for other people's money, just want to introduce people to new concepts so everyone can do their own research to see what fits them, their budget, and lifestyle.
