2013 - 2014 Honda Accord CVT Race 0-60 Test Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

2013 - 2014 Honda Accord CVT 0-60 MPH driving test. 2013 Honda Accord Sport with CVT transmission. Driven in 3 different modes. HondaPro Jason drives them all. A sport mode where you can see the rpm go right up 2 the RedLine and stay there as the car keeps accelerating. A sport mode using the paddle shifters. A regular drive mode where you can see and hear VTEC kick in. Driving a 2013 Honda Accord Sport you can hear the dual exhaust and it sounds great. This was filmed and edited to show the power and acceleration of the Honda CVT transmission in a 0-60 MPH test.

    So, what cars/truck that doesn't break? All cars breaks if you don't take care of it. I have my 2014 Accord and it has been 6 years now and only things it needs in about 5 more months are a set of tires. Runs smooth and get 37MPG hwy mixed 32 MPG.

    It's about time someone actually comments with common sense. You wouldn't believe all of the idiots talking about how the new Altima and Maxima are "faster because they fake shift." Yes, Nissan programmed their CVT to act like a regular auto by telling it to fake shift.

    guys down below, this is NOT a major fail. This is the 4 cyl accord and for what it is, the car is quite peppy/quick. Lets not forget back in 2003 the 3.0L v6 which was 240 hp with the 5 speed auto only did 0 - 60 mph in 7.3-7.5 seconds depending on which mag was testing. That was the TOP engine. This is the base engine and it nearly matches those numbers. Today however you can get the v6 which blows the doors off most average cars

    Looked very quick! I'm impressed. I bought my first CVT equipped Nissan not too long ago and I honestly prefer it to a traditionally geared transmission. I love the lack of shift-shock. The complete lack of downshifts going up hills or passing on the highway is SO appreciated. If you drive a car hard, then yes, you'll hate CVT because you make the engine scream. You're probably pushing the car too hard to begin with no matter the transmission.

    I really like the Accord but I like the Altima to. However this CVT seems a lot faster than Nissans CVT. Would you recommend a 2014 Honda Accord LX. That's the one I'm thinking about buying. Or a Nissan Altima 2.5 S. Are you having any problems with the Accord?

  • @MatTZI014

    @MatTZI014

    Robert Schneider I have the 2013 Accord Sport. The CVT is actually faster on the Accord than the Altima. My sister has a 2012 Altima 2.5 S and it's not very comfortable to passengers because it jerks back and fourth immensely when accelerating and braking; Too much body roll too that it's very uncomfortable. It makes you think that the car is going to flip over. It gives me a headache on long commutes and such. The Accord has an extremely smooth and comfortable ride whether cruising or accelerating. It doesn't have too much body roll and handles a trillion times better. Braking is also very nice. Overall the Accord feels much more sturdy and robust than the Altima. Reliability and Resale value for the Accord are very high in the whole car industry. That isn't the case for the Altima. The Altima has horrendous reliability and resale value.

    CVT+VTEC= Awesome. Even when people take their manual transmission Hondas on the dyno for a high-speed run, it allows the engine to be optimized at a specific engine speed with the most power, usually at higher rpms. Putting a CVT makes the VTEC engine fully engage for maximum horsepower and torque, but of course it won't be fuel efficient, when you floor it. CVT also is meant to save fuel by lightly pressing the gas pedal to get up to speed.

    Well if you like to race your luxury car then the cvt my not be to your liking actually a 189 hp motor might not be a good idea either. But in everyday situations I love the cvt. smooth operation with no shifting. I find it to be plenty quick getting into fast traffic. So im not sure what people complain about with the cvt. Actually they are banned in F1 racing because they are far superior. Difference is you bought an accord and think you got a f1 racer.

    Agreed. If stoplight derbies are a consideration, folks should probably bypass the Accord (4 cylinder and V6) and opt for a Mustang 5.0 or something similar. Personally, my 14 Sport is a fantastic vehicle with a more than adequate motor in terms of performance and efficiency.

    Sorry, it sounds like a food blender. I'd never get a CVT. Plus even tho you get 3 mpg better gas mileage than manual it cost almost $2000 more . How much miles you have to drive to break it even ?

    I test drove the Honda Accord Sport trim CVT and manual and I have to say that they both impressed me. Surprisingly the CVT tranny was really quick compared to the Altima. I then test drove the manual and I have to say its the best manual close gear ratio 6 speed out there. Except I found it underpowered and was yelling really loud if I went up to 5-6000 rpm.

    is the cvt faster than a normal manual? It would seem like the lack of shift time and staying in the max power band would make it quicker. What is the point of the artificial shift points and the paddle shifter tho? That would seem to by pass the whole point of the CVT transmission.

    No, that was the V6, believe it or not. You can tell from the way it sounds and the 0-60 time was around 6.2 seconds, which is precisely the recorded time for the V6. The 2.4 took around 7.5 seconds or so.

  • @kevinengland8626

    7.5 is like for a base model w/o paddle shifters. When you have down-shifted AND switched to S mode right after--it's like a 2nd-stage turbo. I'm not saying to *do* this, though--as it could potentially damage something.
