Happy I found this video. My 2010 Grand Caravan has had the P0456 trouble code for a couple years. New gas cap didn't help. This video helped me replace the ESIM in a 1/2 hour. Great job.

The part is not a Leak Detection Pump (LDP). Older Dodge Caravans around the 2001 vintage used an LDP but the newer ones don't. It's called a Evap System Integrity Monitor (ESIM). For some reason people use the two part descriptions interchangeably but an LDP and an ESIM are totally different devices.

According to the part name it is categorized as a Leak Detection Pump. As well as on ALLDATA.

Yeah that’s an ESIM, not a pump. It has two one way valves that respond to vacuum and pressure, and a diaphragm that opens and closes a switch. Don’t install it upside down!

It’s weird some 2012 town and country’s take E85 yet I don’t think they have it in America anymore,say’s won’t hurt to use regular but engine and all will run and last better if you can use it I don’t know,what do you think?

Is the ESIM in the same spot of the 2010 town and country as well?
@agustincorrea32448 ай бұрын
I just picked up mine from the shop doesn’t have any codes but when you stop completely it tries to turn off then accelerates a bit to stay on. The mechanic found the main engine wiring burned and just installed a new set. The 2012 T &C is running close to 500 rpm’s. The fuel pump is working fine not sure what to look for.

Thanks for the video! I too have a 2012 Town and Country and just discovered the check engine light and the PO456 code. 2 times listed as generic and once as permanent. I need to know which side of the vehicle and in what approximate front to back location for the 310-215 Evaporative System Integrity Module. It appears it may be just to the front of the suspension item (strut perhaps) in the passenger side rear of the vehicle, If possible please clarify at your earliest convenience.

There is a couple DTC codes thrown concerning EVAP system. P0441 is but one of them? A lot of people buy new gas cap but that’s not always the cure. Or purge valve which may not cure it either. Or FTPS ( fuel tank pressure sensor). Or ESIM. The FTPS is the most expensive part. One thing is certain … Shop rates to fix it are more expensive than all 4 parts together. So DIY if you can. You will save a bundle.

I had a 2010 grand caravan from 2012 until 2023. Put over 120K miles on it, plus the 90K that was already on it. I replaced it once.

It is located under the van on the driver's side behind the driver's wheel but you have to get under the truck to see it so make sure you use proper jacket ands and safty equipment

@@leof7635 You are thinking of the older Dodge minivans that use a Leak Detection Pump (LDP), which is located under the driver's seat. This newer vehicle uses a Evap System Integrity Monitor (ESIM), which is located in the rear of the vehicle near the gas tank. The ESIM is mounted onto the charcoal canister.
