2012 Mercedes S550 W221 Oil Change

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

2012 Mercedes S550 W221 AWD 4.7L V8
I change the oil on the S550 every 5,000 miles.
I bought this S550 with 30,000 miles, and now I have 105,000 miles.
So, this is the 14th oil change I've done on it.
While any full synthetic should be fine, I've always used Mobil 1 and MANN.... why not?
MANN-FILTER HU7025Z Oil Filter $10

Mobil 1 0W-40 European formula $27/5qt = $54

HaHa! Don't we know it! Bad news: My Hitachi charger died, and I'm trying to figure out if I can fix it. It may be time to let it go...

I’m about to buy my first S Class and I try to do all my own work. This is pretty simple and straight forward. Why would MB want $250 or more to do this lol

The dealer presumably does more than changing the oil and filter. For Schedule A & B they check all the fluids, brakes, filters, brake fluid, etc. And the shop rate is some crazy amount/hr. Why does a key fob cost $400-500? (that is not only Mercedes... but you can't do that yourself. Order it through the Mercedes dealer parts counter.) I've had two actual repairs done at the dealer; seat belt buckle switch and replace an air suspension valve. The diagnostic and repair cost $500 each. And I consider myself lucky. Over 80,000 miles of ownership, I have replaced the radiator fan, cabin filters, brakes, fob batteries, suspension parts, etc. Parts do appear to be readily available and reasonably priced on the internet. And as the car gets older, there is more help available on-line and on KZread, as more DYIers get a hold of them. I keep looking for a newer car, but, darn it, the S550 is such a nice car! Good Luck!

Pretty good. I still love it. Tempted to move on, but a great all around car; fast, handles, roomy.
