@Jip248 The automatic is quite nice. It has sequential manual shifting too, which works well. It shifts very smoothly and doesnt act dimwitted like some autos I've driven. If you really want an automatic, I recommend it.

This was a very detailed video. However, I just bought the i touring without a sunroof. In my car, the cruise control buttons are on the edges of the wheel center arm . A couple of things you overlooked: the TXT/ESN button, the rear middle console drink holders and demo of the braking power. But overall I give you an up. Thanks for the demo.

@StudentPilot410 No, its a 12. The very early ones didn't have SkyActiv, because it wasnt released right at the start of the new model year.

hey nice review! made a decision of the mazda 3 just because its more sporty than the focus but the focus has nicer materials. i also like the mazda's sporty and athletic look/use. Since im 18 and in college i like having a little fun with the driving; 40mpg helps alot and the car will pay for itself compared to my '00 f150 that avgs. 14.8mpg. But you think i made a decent choice? getting an itouring graphite mica gray skyactiv.

Both MTX & ATX are 6 speed, not 5 speed. I'm in the process of buying a 2012 Mazda3 I Touring Sedan like yours and the engine beauty cover has blue and silver accents on it. And the gauges have the blue lines behind the numbers? Can't wait to try the Tiptronic on some twisties SE of here.

I know! But the hatch was only available in the s model with the 2.5 engine at the time I bought mine, and I couldnt afford the most basic s hatch, so I had to get the i sedan.

The Golf is a really nice car, good handling and a well built interior, and you can have ti with a diesel and a 6-speed manual. But imo, the Mazda 3 is more interesting to look at, more fuel efficient, and maybe sportier, certainly a sportier image. and it also has a wider range of equipment levels. There can be a lot of road and wind noise on the highways, tho. I recomend the 3 i touring hatchback 6-speed in blue, black, or grey. also check out the stickshift focus, i think youll be impressed.

@hamoude93 Its not SkyActiv. The very early 2012 model year i Touring models didnt have skyactiv, cause it hadnt debuted yet, btu good observaiton!

@Jip248 Yeah! I recommend the stick shift version, tho. I drove a 2010 5-spd, and it was amazing! Light clutch, crisp gear-change.

im going to the dealership tmrw to check this out, im between this and the civic ex, leaning towards the 3 automatic hatch, think its a good idea/ long term investment?

@JackZeroZ Yeah, its good! I dont really know much about stereos, but to me its sounds great.

@w16521 Not really. Even the start up was not as loud as it sounds in the video. Just test drove one today as I plan on getting mine in a few days. Such a fun car to drive.

Interesting I didn't know the 2012 I touring had a non-skyactive model. I have another LCD screen to show the MPG and cruise control buttons on bottom of the steering wheel.. mine was built April 2012.

@chakalonzito I agree. I wanted a hatchback with the manual trans., but this was the only 12 my dealer had, and since they were stilll very new, locating one with all the features I wanted, and a manual would be difficult, and i didnt want to wait 6-8 weeks if Id ordered one.

is there a way to shut off the the noise it makes when you press a button, it is really annoying. Kind of reminds me of a microwave.

@javi009z I know! It really is. I drove a 2010 model with the 5MT, and it was amazing, by far the best manual car ive ever driven. But i ended up with an automatic. I am determined t get a stick in my next car.

Hatch and auto. the manual they dont have any of at that dealership in the colors i like or in the hatch for some reason. I like the mazda based on its looks and practicality and fun to drive aspect. Hopefully i will enjoy this car for the years! i can save money and get a sedan but the hatch is much better looking to me.

YOu only get the Bose on a i Touring if you get the sunroof package. And congratulations on your new car! Hatchback... nice choice! But is it auto or manual?

Not the base itouring my friend just got one a itouring with skyactiv and he had to put xenon headlights in you have to get the i grand touring to get the xeon headlights

Its around $20K, I cant remember for sure. I got 1.9% interest, and the payments are just under 370.

Nope. There is a blue light that comes on when the engine is cold, and a red one for when it gets too hot, but no actual temperature gauge. :(

@chathamshawn Not yet. (And hopefully I wont for a long time...keep in mind this was developed during the "Ford-era" of Mazda, so I'm too sure how it will hold up.)
