I freakin love my Rio SX! I drive 100 miles a day to and from work and the ride couldn't be more comfortable. Averaging up to 45 mpg's is always nice too!

This car is amazing, drove one myself for a bit. Loaded with tech and much cheaper than any other brand that matches up with it. The only thing is Kia needs to beef up the SX package a bit. Maybe a 2.0 motor and a manual gearbox. But either way, very nice car.

@cb7pwn they're all optional and usually only on the highest trim level for an extra option.

Very informative review of this car.

i really wish they would include the wattage of the stereo systems. car websites sometimes make it impossible to fine, or dont have it listed.

On :30, you should really update the Fit and Fiesta. The new fit is slightly revised, and we don't have a 3dr hatch in the US. Might be a bit biased I think.

I got this car but with the premium package. Have had it now for 3 weeks now and love it. Try to find a car with all these options for the same price. I did and nothing comes close. Check out my review on it

This is definitely the best looking B-class.

I own a '12 sx manual. Good Car. Great features for entry level. Great space, good comfort, good road feel. The radio has a ton of feature, but the sound could be a little better if you are an audiophile. Love the stick, it's not bmw or honda smooth, but ok. Not sure what they were thinking with the 2nd to 3rd gear ratio, If you shift at the shift point that the indicator says you should, it bucks on anything more than a downhill. Just buy one, for the price, it can't be beat. 41.4 mpg average

@solarlightning Most of the problems were known recalls from Toyota and were almost all fixed under warranty. The car wasn't a lemon but still spent much more time in the shop than the Santa Fe, I don't rely on reliability ratings no more.

@casmatori A JDM Supra? They are kind of all JDM since they were all built here. Also a JDM would need lot's of different kinds of work done to pass emissions. What would be the point might I ask?

power windows cost extra? should power windows be the standard option in almost every car nowdays? and i didnt knwo this car had cruise control at all! hmmm might have to look not that.

Not necessarily. Sparks, Versas, Yaris, Accent, all are avail in base form without the complexity of electric windows. I appreciate simplicity.

Timing chain is a GREAT point freddie. I dint realize it and the review should have mentioned this. Not just if it breaks but servicing every 70k like on my sonata that you want to do to keep your warranty . I thought hynudai/kia had issues with rating 40mpg and had to reduce it to 38?

"the price may swell if you add options" yeah, pretty big flaw in the car LOL This car is the perfect balance of looks, features and price, its gonna be hard to find anything wrong with it so don't try, KBB. =P

Fit is a very nice car with a lot of space and versatile, but how do you reconcile 33mpg hwy for a sub compact with such small/motor low hp? Its not the best if MPGs are one of your main concerns. Even an AWD Impreza Wagon gets 36mpg now & is arguably more versatile although less fun to drive unless you get lots of snow to drift in/decent dirt roads to play. With the rio's mpg's the fit would look a lot better. I like it , but not at 33 hwy,.My 02 350 hp vette gets 30 hwy.

@solarlightning We own a (titanium metallic) 2007 Toyota Camry LE with Canadian option package B including wheel locks, 16" alloys, a cargo net, power driver seat and auto dimming rear view mirror. And yes, it spent more time at the garage than the Hyundai. We had the dash pulled apart twice, the transmission redone, brakes redone, heat-shields falling from under, suspension bushings, A/C blower. Then came the pedal issue and more, making it less reliable than the Santa Fe in our case.

@cb7pwn I know right. I had a JDM Supra and that came with everything too.

@flatblackstrat Mine was built in Japan and had right hand drive. It was also customized like the ones on The Fast And The Furious with bright colors and equipment etc. Also as Japan's emissions standards were stricter than the ones in Kentucky (Where I lived at the time) so it needed no tests.

Hi, how is the wind and road noise at highway speeds ?

I have a 2012 4dr Rio, seen as high as 42mpg on the hwy, and got it for under $14000, try buying a new Honda for that price. It steers fine, brakes fine, and has a timing chain good for 250k miles. Honda's interference head will cost you if the belt breaks. Had it for almost a year and love it. And anyone who buys a lowly 1.6L and expects power...

Considering a base 6 speed manual new. How has it been? I thought it was a fun car, and I got 44 mpg at 60 mph on the freeway during a 30 min test drive. I am looking at a bottom of the barrel LX, no options, and barely over 11 grand.

really? by hw much is the price going to drop on a used one? im thinking of getting this car. i think they kinda over priced it.

They did, but I see saw over 41mpg twice on a long drive, I don't know if that will hold as I put on more miles, I still really like the car and would buy another for my wife if we had the money.

How has it been? I am considering a new one base with 6 speed manual. By keeping the revs down on a test drive, 60 mph on the freeway, I got about 44 mpg. Pretty good!

@w1i2n3k Cool, but I would save the 6g. As an economy car this seems good.

@solarlightning Yes, and a Camry will have more power and safety too. $24,000 for a Versa seems pretty steep! What the heck were they offering with it; a diamond encrusted steering wheel? ;D

@cb7pwn What 12K car comes with a TV Screen? Its just marketing dude. By not having those things the base price is lower which draws in customers, but of course they never actually send one like that to the dealers since no one really wants them anyways. So people interested in base model of the car will see it and decide they may as well spend the extra for the power stuff thus making the companies a bit extra money

its not a bit more power. My Forte has 173HP/168 torque. That's a lot more than the rio's 138/123 power figures. The Forte Hatch also has pretty much 25% extra cargo space and a bigger backseat. Not to mention there's things on the Forte you can't get on the Rio like Auto A/C. I cross shopped both and I would never buy a Rio over my Forte.

No longer a laughable car is it. Its really grown up. I really like these new rio.

@solarlightning Small cars handle better than a Camry. A Camry drives like a bag of shit, I know, we own one. And the "Korea can't make reliable cars" is bullshit. We have an 07 Camry and an 07 Santa Fe and the Camry spent so much more time in the garage even when we drive it much less than the Santa Fe.

dont get the rio. I rented the Rio for 3 weeks and own a Honda Fit 2010 for 2 years. the fit handles better and is more versatile.

Huge difference in pricing. Fuel #'s are better for the Rio and it is quicker with a better warranty.
