This is one of those trends that allow a large number of people to participate in and give them some identity. I'm not bashing them I say more power to you man, not everyone is a professional athlete but we can all find something like this to get in shape and get some competitive experience, plus the comradeship. That's what got me into power lifting, and it takes some time and effort to get the form to do Olympic lifting, I know I suck at it but I hope to get better.

Those are usually the beginners that are starting to find a niche. The vast majority of crossfitters out there that truly understand what the program is all about, whether they compete or not, are some of the most humble and supportive people you can possibly meet.

You are out there actually doing it instead making comments like some here.... I started some competition rifle shooting myself with a .22LR. Crossfit is interesting to me as an additional.sport. I work as a delivery driver moving heavy freight and this has direct application to my line of work. I push and pull heavy pallets every day. I am not in as good a shape as some food delivery truck drivers and certainly not as skinny as a UPS guy but I could sure use the improved fitness.

i guess it's to have a difference between a 4th and a 5th place, like if 2 people or more are failing at the same weight, the one who did the highest amount of deadlifts will be ahead in the scoreboard over the other who did less reps of deadlifts (sorry for the possible mistakes i made, english isn't my first language)

Oh right, I wasn’t aware they'd done events prior to it. Fair point, though, I mean cleans at the best of times aren’t exactly the easiest thing to do, let alone when fatigued. I am merely commenting on the techniques that are difficult to watch. I.e. legs split into what looks like a lateral lunge stance (Knee's go Bye Bye) Apart from that I see your point.

If a lifter fails the clean and squat he can still get points for the deadlifts. Many lifters failed at the same stage but the number of deadlifts will determine how high they place. 345 was the big hurdle to clear. One guy went straight to deadlifts at 345 and did not attempt the clean. He did 12 deadlifts and I think finished 4th or 5th.

In crossfit, there is no interpetation of complex events and situations that are facilitated by the the atheletes towards each other. There is a preset situation that is presented for the atheletes to conquer, but the amount of variables bred by competition is extreamely limited. Also one competes with another athelete as much as a clock, diluting head to head competitive spirit.

the knee ligaments as well as the musculature structure around it are capable of withstanding up to 10,000 - 15,000 NT of preassure. the pest powerlifters who squat to 130 degrees with 2.5x their body weight are only capable of putting up to 8,200 NT of preassure and that is ass to grass with a much greater load almost twice as much, so i have no idea how they are going blow out their knee. with the exception maybe of the guy who lost his balance and his knee hit the ground but he was okay
