2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Drive & Review: The Fastest Daily Driver Ever

( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2012 Camaro ZL1 is the fastest and most powerful production Camaro ever built by Chevrolet. But you probably already knew that. What you might not know is that this almost 600 horsepower car is really a pussy cat to drive. In fact if it got better gas mileage you could easily use it as a daily commuter. It is that easy and relaxed to drive even though under the hood is the supercharged beating heart out of the Cadillac CTS-V. In this review we get to know the fastest production Camaro that GM has ever built by spending a week with it and using it as a daily driver.

Fjf Gkgkfk that’s why I’m watching this video as well lol. My uncle has a 68 RS convertible Camaro, My dad has a 79 Z28. I have owned a 91 RS (6 cylinder) and 89 IROC 5-speed. Needless to say we are a camaro family. So I’m in the market for a convertible and drove a 2018 2SS and honestly was super disappointed. The 2018 challenger was way more superior except no convertible option. However you can pickup a ZL1 convertible in this body style for less than a new body style SS. And this year looks way better. I’ll be getting one soon.

How can 10 years possibly feel longer ago than the past 10 years? I saw a video of a new ZL1 and I suddenly remembered this unsung, truly unknown ZL1 from back then. No one thinks about or talks about this car now in pet because the Z/28 also came out around this time with the NA 427 LS7 from the Corvette Z06… it got all the attention and for good reason.

Thanks! In terms of forced induction, Dodge doesn't have a car in this class. I think it's a shame as I have seen after-market Challenger SRT8s with blowers and/or turbos putting out up to 850 HP. Now THAT would be a cool production car, but it would have more power than the Viper. Simply put, it ain't gonna' happen. Thanks for watching!

I have a 2012 2SS and one of the reasons I chose the Camaro over the mustang was because the camaro had a nicer and more comfortable interior (plus... LS3)... I'll never get the complaints about the interior in the camaro. This is a drivers car. If you need the fancy interior distractions, buy the M3 cause you're not in the same market as this car.

Heck, I'm 18 and I'm probably one of the few people in school that doesn't have keyless entry. Button ignition doesn't matter to me. And the speedometer works too haha.

I meant to say trunk is much larger and the opening of the trunk is much larger in the Mustang. The trunk opening is not the same style in the Camaro and Mustang. The Camaro's so called center lip is nearly not existent, making the opening of the trunk very small and awkward looking in my opinion. I'm sure this is not a deal breaker for people looking at these cars,it was just something that caught my eye in the video. This along with other factors lead me to choose the GT500, if I was buying.

With that amount of HP I actually feel comfortable calling it a "muscle car". Nothing bothers me more than people driving around in small 6cyl automatic Mustangs or Camaro's claiming they have "muscle cars". Sorry but a "muscle car" should have power like the name suggests. It's not just a look and if that's all it was then the whole idea would be pointless. Cars should be able to preform too and it seems GM got this one right. It is expensive but such is the way of having a high powered car.

Not really a daily driver though. Unless you are only ever by yourself or with one person, don't have to sit in the city (No A/C) and enjoy having one speaker as your radio which I would hate. I mean the A/C doesn't apply to me because i'm in the middle of nowhere and never sitting in traffic but to everyone else out there those things listed are a must for daily driving.

Mustang still uses iron brake discs while the zl1 comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes wider custom made tires while the gt500 gets run of the mill good year eagle f1s. To me, it seems like the gt500 was built more rushed compared to the zl1. Like ford just slapped a bigger blower and stroked the engine and sent it on its way

As much as I love the new Shelby's power, I prefer the ZL1; it can actually handle its power better than the Shelby (at least in corners) and the ZL1's a better value to me. I may get some beef for saying this, but I can't believe that Carroll Shelby was so stupid to allow his last authorized car to have 662 hp hooked to a live axle, it's a stupid move, but Ford might learn when or if the Camaro outsells the Mustang twice over to give the Mustang an IRS.

And GM won't care if it's the muscle car or not, it runs the same engine as the Corvette and would end up rivaling in sales. 4 seats also keeps it cheaper for consumers pricing and insurance wise

The gauges never made sense in these cars. the Genesis Coupe tried to do this too. They put the gauges in which is great, but they put them in the most retarded spot, who the fuck in GM says "oh yeah, this is a good spot to put the camaro gauges" literally the only manufacturers that have these gauges right are the new 2015+ Mustangs (with the package) and the subaru STI/WRX
