The 2012 LaCrosse eAssist is powered by a Direct Injected VVT 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with a mild hybrid system that produces 182 horsepower (HP) and 172 foot pounds of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The official fuel economy estimates for the 2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist are 25 city / 36 highway miles per gallon (MPG).
This review, like most of our reviews, includes our trademark MPGomatic 0-60 MPH acceleration test.

That's actually an impressive car.
Around these parts, trains are pretty long, so I usually turn off the car cause some of them are 5-10 mins or longer, but then you swelter in the hot, humid Fl heat, but hey, we gotta conserve whenever possible, right?
Motor Trend in 2010 gave a comparison test between the Lexus ES 350 and Buick LaCrosse, MT preferred the LaCrosse. Note: the comparison was both with the V6 engine.
What could be wrong with it run great and it' s got the 4cyl assist I don't get but 19 to 22 mpg?
It's tough to make an assessment without driving them back-to-back, and the tech is improving. The first time I experienced a stop-start system was in the MiniD and 123D, years back. It freaked me out at first, even though I knew it was there ... rolled up to a light, popped the manual transmission into neutral and whrrrr. :) Took a while to get used to it. GM's system uses a Continental motor-generator ... it does just fine, from my (limited) experience. An unrefined system? Lemme think ...
Interesting stuff. Lets see how the 2013 Fusion does.
That's not what most reviews I've read say. Matter of fact if I recall, in V6 form at least most car mags preferred the LaCrosse, and that was before the V6 got bumped up to 304hp. The new ES may be a different story, but then it should be, since it's new.
Is this car midsize or fullsize? Different car reviewers say different things about its size. In my opinion, this car looks too big to be midsize.
Dan, what is your assessment of GM's 'stop start' tech vs competing systems? I have heard/read that some of the others are quite unrefined...
Don't like the stop start system, when it needs repairs, it will wipe out whatever money you may have saved on gas and then some.
Looks like you need that heads up display with how terribly vague that speedo is labeled.
how well does it soak up the bumps?
Im having a problem with .y auto stop
Watch cars/com recent review of the 2012 BMW 328i, and you'll see what I'm referring to!
I'd wager that all new vehicles will have stop/start within a decade's time, for better or for worse.
That man think he can drive
This is such a joke. It doesn't even compete with the current Lexus ES, and a new ES is already coming out next year!
