Boston 2011 has to be one of the most underrated drum corps shows of all time

Gosh. I forgot Cavies won percussion that year. Wow... and percussion was their weakness, if they had any, even during their three-peat in the early 2000s. So awesome to see that caption make progress for them.

Isn’t it kind of weird how the Cadet’s titles go in a straight line downward since the 80’s? 80’s: 4 titles 90’s: 3 titles 00’s: 2 titles 10’s: 1 title Hopefully the trend doesn’t continue with zero titles in the 20’s.

With everything that's happened to them, don't count on a victory any time soon. They need to fix management and organization on so many levels, one of them main reason they don't win in amazing years like 2015.

oh yeah yeah no 2014 was all BD and for good reason. In 2011 you could make a case for all top 5 corps winning.

GE really killed them. They started dropping after 2012 and had to change to remain competitive but it has not gone well.

I wonder what it must have been like to be there in the audience, with over 1000 brass players all playing at the same time.

I could've been a Blue Knight that year. To this day a regret removing myself from auditions.

Hey if I could ask, why did they play battle hymn. I remember learning why but I forgot.

At 43:44 he says " Field is yours" So all the other corps move on out and the cadets prepare for there encore?

Around 36:10 where The Cadets won Best Overall Effect, it looked as if one of the color guard members was being escorted off the field (one of the angels) toward the top left of the screen. Anyone know what was wrong with that member?

Sometimes people pass out after standing or extended periods of time. They always say not to lock your knees because it cuts off circulation.

Garfield was always way ahead of the curve w/the salt thing. Or so they believed. They were practicing for the day back in the 70s at a field near my house, so I headed on over. There they were, all wearing safari helmets & pausing periodically for their caretakers to run around the field handing out salt tablets. I never could figure what it was abt the North Jersey corps, & Garfield was the penultimate. These guys would LOOK for opptys to "pass out" during afternoon shows, telling us later that they got a big measure of sympathy from the crowd that, they said, affected their scores for the better. Those of us w/boyfriends knew better, tho. A lot of the guys we knew just did not like working in the heat & when they did, they felt free to just drop out. This included exhibitions & parades. We in Audubon couldn't figure it & rolled our eyes. Our corps had a hard & fast rule: You do NOT pass out. If you do, you can't march w/us any more. And no one EVER did. Of course, the guys never believed us. It was true, tho.😮

Who thumbs down DCI Finals? I mean who thumbs down a drum corps but those that "don't march."

+CB East Marching Band YES. They did. If you watched the video, they placed 10th.

depends on what "placed" means. if it means making finals, Madison DID place. If it means top 10, they still placed. If it means top 1-9, then they did not place.

It's supposed to be that way. Shows are designed to have a front and back. They're meant to be viewed from the front only. My son marched and I've been to the finals three times. The seating is limited to one side, and every year it sells out.

@@Mybpeterson Oh! So THAT'S how DCI declares a sell-out! Gee, Roosevelt Stadium where the Dream was held every yr had no problem selling out w/o restricted seating. The sound is doubly awesome when there are people all the way around - & that was back in the late 60s when they would just tell everyone buying their tickets @ the gate what was still available AND they charged less for all those seats that were "in the back", "on the other side", where the corps on the field had their backs to you. I saw my 2nd Dream in 69 & that's where I sat. And all my photos prove it! Lolol! 😁 P.S. - Gosh I need to.quit while I'm ahead BUT since this is essentially just the same as I wrote abt 5 mins ago... well, except for the parts I left out here abt how DCI had hooked up w/PBS to show "nat'ls" at first & didn't seem to like the early string of tv shots showing all those empty seats bcs it was a bad "visual" or not that good "a look", well, I get blocked. There hasn't been a legit seat sell-out for DCI since the first yr they held their "nat'ls" @ Franklin Field in Phil's. 😉

@@g.hon.4645 I haven't been watching since the 60's, but the show style has altered dramatically since then. Apparently '83 is when a revolution started, but DCI has come a long way since then. Maybe you're right, there isn't enough demand to fill an entire stadium, maybe they've become purists and changed the orientation so everyone gets the right vantage point so they can appreciate the show better. All I can say for sure is that tickets sell out far in advance and the concourses are like a traffic jam. The finals have been taking place in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for as long as I can remember, which isn't very long. I'd never even heard of DCI until my son got involved in 2011. He originally marched in The Cadets DC2 (?) in high school. His high school schedule ruled out DCI, but he marched The Cadets DCI 2013-2015 before he aged out. He became staff ever since and is now a caption head and drill writer. I've heard that anyone who marched for any corps feels like they're in a fraternity that lasts the rest of their lives. It's an experience like no other. I've probably gone on too long, but it's late and I'm tired. I chalk it up to a parent's gushing. ; ) Have a good night.

That’s bs the blues devils are so overrated its stupid. Cadets deserved first, but cavaliers should have gotten second, and phantom regiment should have gotten third.

I'll agree that the Blue devil's shouldn't have won 15', but the way they execute their performances shows so much control and perfectionism and I think they deserve every win except the ones listed above
