Great video. I was just in Finland for a month and a front wheeled drive wagon with snow tires is the most popular option there. Their roads are always ice packed and those snow tires are simply amazing. Especially when it comes to stopping. People there stop with snow tires in the same distance I do in summer driving. Awd will simply not help you stop unless there's snow tires. I didn't believe it either until I went north of the article circle! Of course where I was at the temperature is incredibly stable....so the snow doesn't melt until it gets to be spring. That's why they can have snow tires. In Nebraska it will stay below freezing for awhile but eventually there will be quite the temperature swing back and forth between freezing and melting and that's probably why virtually no one around here has snow tires. I don't believe they do good in wet conditions. That is where I think Awd and 4wd come in like you said with the numbers game! Great video!

Shooting Cars You could get a 2.5i Premium (mid range) with a 6-speed manual which had heated seats, but still had cloth. Alloy wheels, tint, sunroof, power drivers seat, etc.

l have a 2012 premium with the 6 speed, you get harman kardon sound, leather, sunroof, and TVs in the headrests! I love the electric brake and I do a ton of towing with it, using upgrades from the 2015+ wrx 6MT makes the trans awesome

Very enthusiastic and detailed; personal assessment of the extra capability rendering the need to compensate with extra maintenance. You have polished their badge for me, Thanks, Respect.

This car with a good set of snow tires is almost unstopable during the winter.

Some countries in EU actually recalled these cars for failing e-parking brakes, they could brake mid drive and cause crashes

I always buy Subaru or Audi both are AWD i drove through storms that took everything off the road but me I only came when I couldn't see the road any longer. what he is missing here is unlike most suv's these cars have a much lower center of gravity so they hug the road where others are going off it, this also improves handling if you need some speed the 6cyl is pretty perky my only downside is towing totally sucks I have a landrover for that but it drinks gas which the 4 cyl is very light on, end of day you want a safe reliable car with lots of capacity this is it

Great review- I too prefer a physical parking break. Everything seems to be going to electronic which i just hate...as well as those "dial " shifters on the automatic transmissions. One thing I was curious with the Outback is if the back seats actually fold down flat? Most SUVs dont but Id like to find one that does so I could throw a sleeping bag in and lay down for nap or car camp.

The rear seats don't fold completely flat, I believe they come decently close though.

Why oh why don't they offer this model any more? You can't beat a manual AWD in the snow. Plus, a stickshift just makes a car with a moderately-sized engine ever so much more fun and peppy. Can't figure out why they only offer CVTs now because I won't be buying another Outback for that reason.

Im just about to buy a 2010 manual OB with e-brake. When I test drove it I had to hill start and my hand instinctively went for my handbrake in my 2007 manual OB .... it was blind panic for a moment whilst my brain tried to find the hill-stall control button ! hahahahaha

The electronic brake and roll control thing is a solution to a non-problem. I love my 2013 OB with a stickshift but I would much rather just have a conventional handbrake.

  • 3 жыл бұрын

I've never used the parking brake in any manual I've owned unless I parked in a VERY steep angle, and even then, leaving it in gear and with the tyre against the curb is enough.

The Outback is kind of in between. For all intents and purposes it's an SUV, but really it's a lifted wagon masquerading as one. The Forester and Ascent are more typical SUVs.
