2010 Mitsubishi Evo X Review - Better Than an STi?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After filming with a WRX STi I had numerous requests to film with an Evo as well. So when the opportunity came up, I couldn't refuse! Let's see how the Lancer Evolution 10 stacks up.

I drove my mate's 2011 Evo 10 MR downhill on one of our twistie sections here. Shit It's good. It's the best handling I've ever experienced in a Car in my life. The AWD system it has is very unique. The computer can detect It's losing the most grip on one wheel and then distributes the traction to that wheel so even with the Pirelli Sport Dragon's he had I didn't experience any understeer or oversteer. Pretty amazing stuff. His car only makes 200kw to the wheels and it get's up and goes. Like no joke It's fast and It's just something people need to experience to really find out. The SST is beautiful. One of the best part's about the Car. Shift's nice and quickly with very little or no lag between gears. It's a big shame they are out of production. I reckon they could have made more of them today.

Nice yeah they're really quick and handle brilliantly for sure... Sure the SST shifted quickly, but I would describe it as a very beta transmission. Needs a lot of work... Euro DCT's shift just as quick but are significantly smoother around town and much more refined

If memory serves that T intersection where you turned right a the 5min mark is where that bus nearly took you out last week. Back on topic I do like the Evo's. They are very expensive over here in Straya and a solid % have been driven VERY hard which means the mint/pampered examples are priced accordingly.

It's nice to see another Evo X review, I've had my X since 2012: prior to that I had a Cooper S cabrio, but I needed something with room for my burgeoning nest of dependents that would be as fun to drive as the Mini. The Evo matches or even slightly betters the mini for handling and leaves it for dead in acceleration, plus I can fit my whole family in there, and it has 8 airbags. Granted the interior leaves a bit to be desired, especially compared to the Mini or even my wife's VW Tiguan but I don't look at that while I'm driving. Best car I've ever owned, and I've owned a few. Cheers from Australia!

@@cenzofrisina6517 "it just needs a few upgrades" So that means it's not good? I don't see many people rebuilding or upgrading their ZF6's in a 335i build with similar power to a moderately tuned Evo X. The SST is just simply not a great gearbox all things considered. It's jerky, unrefined and fragile. The fact you openly admit to "loving the Evo X" means I will take everything that follows with a grain of salt. Just been reading on the forums... literally everyone is like "oh yeah it's pretty good, you just gotta service it every 30,000km, don't drive it hard, drive it in manual mode all the time coz D mode ruins it, blah blah" It's all excuses. Great car, but you will never ever convince me the transmission is good.

There are many vehicles with drivelines, engines etc, that require different levels of care for multiple reasons but this again dosent make them not good!!!! I have an EvoX in red just like this.. It drives like a Mclaren worth 100k+ . spending $5k on DCT upgrades is nothing on a $50k car. If you want a racing supercar car that you spend all your money just to buy it, with no money left over, is never a good plan. you need to spend tyres, brake pads. and maintenance. the engine is strong, the dct is strong, the drivetrain is strong.. the only thing that can go wrong is if you don't change the oil every 6mths in the DCT.
