Everyone's talking about the soprano sax and Eb clarinet solos...but are we really going to ignore that killer bass trombone feature? Come on people, that was frickin amazing! That guy has got some serious lung power to play that loud without a mic!

carsonlmao it's called fundraising and band fees. Our dads make our props. And this year our fees is $3,000 , $1,400 for marching season and $1,600 for concert season

I remember watching this show and we just loved it. This was definitely my favorite show that year.

This is among the best use of scales I've ever seen. The ascending and descending scale sections across the entire band were very well used. the show has probably the greatest theatrical effect I've ever seen. This is a band that really knows how to have fun, and you can respect that no matter what level you're at.

God this show gives me chills!!! I especially loved the beginning with the music that sounded like it was from Signs and also the scene with the bed rising. INCREDIBLE.

As a sax soloist myself-- mad props to that soprano girl. Her solos were stuff of absolute awe.

Its 2018. I was in band all through high school. Seen a TON of DCI and BOA shows. And this is still by far my favorite show ever!!!!

To this day this is still the most exciting High School show I have ever seen! Well Done Tarpon Springs! Can't Wait to see you guys next weekend!

This is an incredible show, they have always had an amazing group. I remember being in the warmup lot next to then in the RCA dome and convention center in 1997 at boa grand nationals. We were separated by a curtain but I could hear their woodwinds warning up and I though , "damn these guys can play who is this band?!?!" I have been a fan of tarpon springs ever since. It was on honor to share the field with them in finals that year.

I'm a Golden Regiment kid but...wow!!! I loved that show!

THIS SHOW IS UNREAL... what a concept. Bravo to you guys!!! Good luck this year at Grand Nationals!

Even 3 years later this is the most memorable show I've ever seen.

Props are made by parents...budget is funded by fundraising efforts, donations and a lot of hard work! It is no easy task and Disney does not and has never sponsored their shows.

+Michelle DeSenti they have an initial fee of 1300 dollars + fund raisers so they have a lot of money. This year they have a float in their show

My son was in the band for three years and I was a volunteer uniform mom for those years. I know how it worked. I paid those fees and participated in the fundraising every year.

kingjoshey she’s correct though. We weren’t Tarpon Springs, but my band had large fees and a large budget to fill as well. I spent my summer and winter breaks doing fund raisers (which were fun) and I raised thousands within my first 2 years that it was enough to pay off my junior and senior years. I had a few hundred bucks left from those fund raisers when graduation came that I passed off to someone that wasn’t able to attend as many as I was able to (family vacations & other reasons) . At the end of the day we all supported each other and no one was left behind

maybe the drill designers thought that a drumline just wouldn't look right in this scenario

To me, this is one of the best shows of all time by a high school band because it keeps your attention musically and visually from start to finish.

Whenever I'm feeling sad I come watch this and then I just get pumped up for the next marching show

Graduated from Bell in 2010, went to see our band perform the year after and saw Tarpon Springs perform that year. I thought this show should have won. My favorite show EVER out of EVERY show I've ever seen. Incredible. I really love how BOA played Haunted by Evanescence directly afterward their show in Finals too. :p Been a while since this show, but Congrats again anyway on such a BRILLIANT show.

This is my favorite high school marching band show ever. they are SO good.

Back before they had a drumline. This was the year we beat them at Seminole Sound Invitational for drums!

Every little thing about this show was amazing!

Always amazed at the variety and originality that bands and corps come up with. This was a fun show. The levitation part made me whoop! If you were a part of this show, you should be proud. :)

Dear Tarpon Springs- Paranormal was a wickedly awesome show, and you all did a fantastic job. I fully regret not being able to see this live last year now, and not being able to remember to look this up until now. Paranormal was fantastic! Sincerely, a fellow Marching-Bander.

7 years later and still amazing. Not surprised when they won 1st at BOA Orlando on October. My school was pretty dang close to making the top 10.

Every year our marching band goes to Tarpon Springs for competition and its truly an amazing experience to see their shows in person.

my God. We don't have the words in our human vocabulary to describe this show. Simply amazing.

Why don't we just acknowledge that this is an incredibly talented group whose kids put in a helluva lot of time and effort? I think that would be the best thing to do.

The purest essence of Arts Education to give the students a medium to present themselves with the highest convictions. Giving access to the joy and thrill of performance builds confidence and self-esteem to create and contribute to matters larger than themselves.

Just saw their 2011 show. It blows this one away! In my opinion go tarpon :)

I am in awe of this HIGH SCHOOL marching band! Most colleges couldn't shake a stick at this show. I'd even put it up there with DCI (Drum Corp International). I am proud U.S. Sailor from Florida. GREAT WORK! Aloha from Hawaii.

East River HS. We are only 4 years old. We have been to State twice the first year as a 2a and came in 4th. Last year as a 3a and came in 5th. This year we aren't going, they wanted to have an off year. Just cannot wait to see what you are doing this year. What a creative mind your director has.

i love this show!

If you didn't get to see this show in person then you really don't understand how incredible it was. Trust me they march and play plenty. Not to mention I was fortunate enough to watch the band rehearse, meet the kids, parents and the band directors, Kevin Ford and Bob Barfield. They are a great group of people. They are not built out of money. The band boosters work very hard to raise the funds to pull off this kind of thing.

Oh, I see. I've had encounters with a few of them and the ones I've met are nice. But no program is full of perfect people so I can understand how you may have met some less than desirable ones. I can't really vouch too much for them given that I'm not really affiliated with the program. But it goes without saying, they're a fantastic group!

This show was amazing and the guard was in character the entire time which was awesome :) although... I love the fact that this is pretty much a winterguard show, but on the field...

You are right. I didn't even notice they didn't have a battery. The story was just so captivating.

Frank Sullivan, he also writes all the music for my high school too, East Coweta, and he has for about 5 years now. He also used to write for the blue stars DCI corps but the relationship got fuzzy, he's a great guy and amazing to work with!

This is super awesome. i love the soprano sax. There is a lot of electronics but its still the band playing too. I love the whole concept of this show. ....Clarinet player you ROCK!...how does she float? Good job marching band! You guys must put in a lot of practice ! :D

I love Etiwanda (I grew up marching h.s. band in the 90s), but they never even approached the level of creativity that is Tarpon Springs puts forth. Tapron Springs is in a league of it's own.

did the soprano sax girl march the whole show with sprano sax? or did she just play for the solos

She may have only played for the solos, but there's a soprano part in the music for a marcher.

@theplaytester2 Some of the music is based on the movie Signs, you can hear it in the preshow and other places.

This is one AWESOME show. The video does not do it justice. Wow....Just how fast were those Clarinet scales???? You had to be in person for the full affect of this show. The intensity coming off that field was just incredible!! :->
