This was a great video and still applies to the 2022 Lexus GX. I used duct tape to pull out the bulbs and I was done in less than 15 minutes. Thank you for showing both options to get to the from map lights! This save me so much aggravation so I din't have to pull down the entire center!

Thanks so much for your videos…I swapped out all lights except for the very back one in the cargo area (ran out of LEDs!). I have not attempted the under seat lights…those worry me a bit, although when my incoming set of Auxito LEDs shows, I may attempt it and also swap out the cargo lights. These LEDs really make a difference. The ones I got for the running boards weren’t Auxito, and on a couple, I had to make adjustments to the socket and prongs…and for some reason, they didn’t want to re-seat…then would drop into the light cover…and I had to take them off…more than once..lol. But I would never have attempted any of it, without your videos. I have a 2023 Premium, by the way. Thanks again!

Bob, great video. I just upgraded by light to the LED white kit. How to remove the bulbs easily on the ceiling? - USE ELECTRICAL TAPE. Just take a 3 or 4 inch length of tape and pinch it around the bulb and pull down. Safe and it never breaks the bulb.

The running board lights are the ones that really stand out at night. They use the same bulbs.

10 Amber lights in the interior make it look close to the original bulb color just way brighter and a nicer amber color. I tried white on the inside and it seemed to bright and no fun, you can also see bugs make a beeline straight to them. Amber looks really cool and I get more compliments.

A little tip for those that struggled with the map lights. Use a latex glove and it’s a piece of cake. That little extra grip is all I needed.

what voltage are the typical light bulbs for that car? i dont want to screw up whatever electronic thing because i put in some too high or too low volt LED light bulb.

LED draws barely any voltage to damage your electrical system. The ones sold are meant for vehicle applications. Your interior lighting circuit is also protected with a fuse.

i believe that is not a bulb. That may be an entire unit you have to replace. I can not confirm or deny this but i have sought after those illuminating scuff plates to replace with led aftermarket ones and they are one complete unit.

Would you recommend another brand of lightbulbs, the one suggested tend to burn out after a couple years or before. thx!

Cedric, not sure if that data is correct or you had a one-off but i've had Auxito LED on all my GX's for years and years without fail. Keep in mind Auxito has a 2 year warranty on their LED bulbs. It states it on the Amazon page. BUT....you want to try the Lasfit LED error-free bulbs for $35 a set, here's the link. Those bulbs are tight and slippery. Some require a pick tool and don’t forget a pair of safety glasses. Another option is to remove the entire unit and remove the light from behind. I have a video on an alternative method for removing maplight.

bob, I ordered the lights from ebay but it only came with 8 of those big LEDs (the ones the 5 lights). I ended up using the flat top LEDs for the middle row lights and the big LEDs for everything else (doors, driver row lights, and cargo lights). Did you have this problem as well?

I did not have that problem but then again i walked away with extras that i have no idea where they’re supposed to go. I don’t think it’s GX specific so i just used what worked.

Love your page, Bob! Can you go more into detail on how you removed the overhead/map light bulbs? I’m having issues trying to swap those out and getting them to pop out. Thanks for all the helpful videos!

Hey Felix, invest in a set of plastic pry tools. You'll need them to do a lot of your interior work in place of a flathead screwdriver. I usually just use my plastic pry tool and dig into a corner or slot of the light lense. If you look closer, you'll notice your light lenses have slots built into them for you to stick a small flathead screwdriver in. Hope that helps.

the 2014 and up plates do not have removable bulbs. I'm not sure of 2013 and older.

Has anyone had issues with the lights staying on but just very dim? I have installed LEDs before on another vehicle and after sitting for a long time they drained the battery.

If your lights are on and are dim, you have a minor short somewhere. I would first check each of your light sockets to see any corrosion, water damage, white dust, green discoloration, etc..., your positive and negative bulb contacts are making contact with one another. I'm speaking from experience.

Can you show how to get the dome light out because for some reason it's super hard to come off

You might not get a complete set because you need a total of 12 for your interior. Most kits come in 10 quantity . So you have to buy a combo set to add up to 12. Search for 194 type led for fitment.

@@serjoetabamo4354 They've been called different things by different people but xenon, super white, and Led all lead to the same thing. I would just make sure your end product is LED.

The map lights of 2017 GX 460 are too hard to be taken off. I tried flat head screw drive, plastic tool and needle nose pliers. Non of that works. Almost damaging the slot of the light bulb . Finally I gave up

try a pair of needlenose pliers and wear safety glasses. They might pop on you.

@@aniladitya The bulbs fit very very snug. All you need to do is get someone with really skinny fingers to hold really tight onto the bulbs and pull. Make sure your fingers are not slippery with oil. The access is very small , that's why I recommend needelnose pliers. There is nothing holding the plugs in there except friction.

So, my third mod since finding you on KZread, changed out my entire lights to LEDS. Big difference. Still can't find your email. Isn't supposed to be in the "About" tab in your cover page?

Nope. I have extras of a lot of stuff. I think Amazon sellers pack them so that they are able to accommodate more than just one car to be efficient.

I used duck tape rapped around front and rear top lights map and back seat.

@@GXBOB to get them out without a pick tool. The front was the hardest for me. I wrapped the duck tape around the old bulbs while stile installed then just pulled them out by the tail of ducked tape. It was very quick and easy.

How the hell were you able to take off the bulb from the two map reading? I got the plastic cover off but the blulbs are recessed deep in and fingers will not grab a hold of them to pull them out. I wish you did NOT skip the taking out the bulb step out.

I had trouble also but it was because I have fat fingers so it was just hard to go in to grab it securely but it came out when I wiggled it a bit and held it as firmly as I could.

@@cedricbench2543 For a car this expensive, I'm surprised at some of the features that haven't kept up with other luxury cars. Especially the really square and aging looking dash and radio console.

I would advise you WEAR safety glasses when you are trying to pull out the bulbs from the map reading. I shattered a bulb prying it out and it shattered sending small pieces of glass all over, some got into my eyes. Not good.

Hey Tommy to be honest i can’t confirm or deny the fitment of the 2020+ GX’s as that’s the only years I’ve never been fortunate to own yet. I’m willing to bet that it hasn’t changed but the good thing is Amazon has an incredible return policy.

To take out the interior lights I used a long nose pliers...it was easier for me

we found that some bulbs don't react too kindly with needle nose pliers and the glass breaks and falls into your eyes. Be careful.

No sir, not yet. I'd be surprised if they are replaceable bulbs if u ask me. I think they might be an assembly. I'll make sure to check.

Hey George, i can confirm or deny anything for the 2021 as i have no resources to check that for you. But the best thing to do is just take them out one by one and see if they match my 2017 bulb installment.
