Newer to your channel, we are picking up our 2018 Premium with Support Design Package in 2 days. Looks like the one and only recall is inaccurate GPS location. It's supposedly a software issue. Thanks for the channel and education!

Yeah...so....Erin....i decided jokes towards women were just degrading and i felt a need to start straying from them since my run in with God in my sleep the other night. My current jokes are more geared towards ethnic groups now.

Hi again your video was very informative. Unfortunately I would need the one for the 2010 gx460 and was told that it has to be installed at a dealer because it has to hooked up to their laptop.

No it doesn't. If you look at the body of my description, it lists your year as using a USB drive (in which you have). You can hook it up to your own laptop using a usb cable and download toyota's techstream software. The thing with the software is that it is useful for other applications also, not just for navi updates. There are quite a number of tips and tricks if you go on clublexus.com for techstream suggestions.

@@GXBOB Are you sure about this tech stream software being needed to update the USB NAV? It has buttons in the GUI that are for updating the NAV. Mine just keeps says "device connection error" when I plug the USB in to the port and press update.

I was told the dealer had to do it also for the 2010. I am going to the parts desk and just going to ask for the part. The parts guys are pretty cool.

you can or you can do it yourself with the techstream software and a laptop. If the dealer is charging u for the usb w/ free labor then hell, i'd go for the dealer. But the last time i checked the dealership, nothing was directly free.

I got a friend with the same name. I keep calling him Marco without the S at the end. He swears you're supposed to pronounce the S.

Bought a 2010 ES 350 and am wondering how to update the maps. I do have techstream, but having a hard time finding what else I need to update the navigation data. Seems like there may be a kit or USB cable needed, along with the map data discs to load into the PC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, your best bet is to get on the Lexus ES forums. Even though some of the platforms are standardized across each model Lexus's, i can not confirm or deny its correct application since its not a Lexus GX to which i have more experience on.

Hi. How are you . I have a question about the gx 460. I have a 2012 gx460 and I have try to upgrade the front to 2019 . I bought all the bumper and the fog and grill with headlight. The only problem I have now is that when I was about to put the 2019 headlight the connector wire from the 2012 headlight does not fit the 2019 headlight the 2012 as like 6 hole mouth pin which the new headlight for 2019 as 4 hole mouth pin . I don't know if there is any adaptor that can connect the wire from my 2012 headlight to the new lighting. Pls I need your help. Also all the fog light switches are also different. What should I do.

Hi Bob. I have a 2016 gx460. My screen is telling me it can,t read the disc. I thought that my navigation just needed to be updated or something so I took it to the dealership. They told me that the radio needs to be changed but sometimes the screen does work. What u think it is?

It’s because your disc is the incorrect format. Try other discs such as mp3, mp4, wav, region 1, etc…

Hi Bob, thanks for the video. Any ideas for how to get a stuck SD card out? I accidentally inserted the card with the label side the wrong way and now it is stuck. Thanks so much

Invest in some manicure tools such as tweezers. Other than that you might try taking the radio out and disassemble it. I have videos in removing the console and it’s not that difficult to do.

@@GXBOB Thanks. I tried with tweezers, tape etc. but without any luck. Looked at your video of removing the console but it looks like the SD card box is so tightly integrated into the the metal encasing that it will be tricky to get out. Not sure what to do at this point...

Can you update the software with tech stream on a 2014 GX460?

Insert the SD card while the vehicle is powered off. Then turn on vehicle. Wait for the onscreen directions to load. But very important to start off in the "engine off" mode first.

Hi Bob. I have a 2107 gx, it doesn’t have ssd card, so the navigation system doesn’t work. Question is, where can I get a ssd card that cover south America maps? I.e. Bolivia. Thanks for your support

Hi Bob, how do you disable the TPM of the 2011 Lexus GX460?

This only works on the GX460 and not the 470. Behind the rear quarter panel trim on the driver side is the TPMS sensor unit. There's a plug with a bunch of wires going into the unit. Unplug it and jump the yellow and pink wires together without cutting the wires. I can put this tutorial together but it'll have to wait a bit. I have a lot of requests of other How-to's do do first.

your 2017 should have a SD card installed already. If not, the previous owner took it with him.

My 2013 had a Navigation DVD that was under the passenger seat.

My 2013 doesn't have that slot there any idea where else it would be located?

Your 2013 is usb. I believe you use the same USB slot you typically use for your cellphone charger. Then you go to your auxillary input options on your nav screen.

Your radio is over 10 years old. Have you considered replacing it? There are plenty used ones online for pretty cheap.

Hey Bob.. I got a 2016 lexus GX460.... the nav screen goes out from time to time in which I can't operate the climate controls or play the radio. Stays off for a few days then comes back on. this happens a lot. It's now winter here and I need that defroster to work and I can"t access it, getting to be a dangerous situation. Any ideas on what it is and how to fix? any help would be appreciated. thank you.

I’m willing to bet the previous owner removed and reinstalled the radio navigation console for whatever reason. God knows I’ve done it a million times. One of the plugs in the back is loose and wasn’t pushed in all the way.

I mean.....nobody really uses the navi with all the stuff cellphones can do nowadays. My Nexar dashcam even has a navigation app built into it that mirrors onto my phone. I really can't stand the Lexus one.

I have a 2013 and mine does not have that section below the volume dial. Can anyone verify, or tell me why he's saying it for 2010 to 2018.

That's not the hard part (since its just a universal SD card application). The hard part is finding a dealer that uploaded an Arabian map for your navigation to recognize. I would visit a Lexus dealer somewhere in your region to find out.

Are you familiar with the Maya Millete case? She has been missing for over two years and her husband Larry Millete drove a Lexus GX460 and turned off his GPS system and drove approx 2 hours from his home. They claim they are unable to track his location due to Larry deactivating it. Is there anyway to go around that? It seems like that would be a feature the FBI should be able to access whether the user turns it off or not.

This video does not cover Lexus GX from 2010-2013. My 2011 GX does not have an SD port. It has a USB port and a different side button layout. It is updated with a USB stick. I have tried updating mine and it says device connection error. I am searching for solutions and found this video. My search continues! But I would update your title. This video does not cover the early GX460s that have USB. *I do see you have the part number for the USB version in the description.

The micro SD card that you get from Lexus, contains the map information. It is supposed to stay in the slot. Nothing more needs to be done. There are no updates or patches or rebooting needed. Just take out the one that is in there and put this one in and then turn on your vehicle and your nav will use updated maps. This video is completely wrong about the process of updating maps.
