On the 2010 Honda accord you need a 19mm to take the belt off. Just fyi for anyone planning on taking this on. I was able to successfully replace my alternator with this video and saved $494. Thank you

Just wanted to say thanks on this Vid, my girl's car alternator gave out on her Honda Accord Crosstour 2010 and I had never change an alternator before. Was looking at other videos but wasn't confident enough to do it myself, went out to get some qoutes and I went back on trying to find videos to see if I would be able to do it. Sure enough I stumble onto yours and I'm glad I did it gave me the confident I needed to go ahead and do the job, the step by step was really helpful from beginning to end. You saved me hundreds of dollars in labor cost.

Just wanted to update. Man that was a tough/easy job at the same time. That fan was hell especially with those plastic clips to remove. I just broken them off. It was one on the back of the old alternator and one attaches to fan housing. It took me like 4 hours to do this job. But your video gave me hope. When I was done she fired up strong. Thank you.

Right... Those clips were a b%tch! I just removed my alternator tonight and having mine rebuilt to save some cash bc the local place I tried ordering from wasn't able to find a core to work with... That fan clip though... 😳

TranceAngie It whipped my butt. I got mine from Amazon (1 day ship). I think it came in around 5-6pm. I worked on it until almost midnight. I had to go to work the next day. So I was determined to get it done. After all of that, my belt started chirping. I was like dam!!! So a few days later. I was trying to change out the belt and the bolt on the tensioner stripped. So I had to order a new one. Got that changed out and put on the new belt. Now it is quiet. But overall this whole ordeal was crazy. Forgot I had to buy a new battery too. I think I spent about $300 for everything. But I figured that’s still cheaper than letting a shop do it. I am glad it wasn’t just me to complain about those clips on the fan. She is still going strong.

This is the best video I have found for the accord alternator replacement. I have a 2010 4 door only a few differences. I had a pulley tension lever 19 mm between the alternator and the pulley, not the 14 mm on the actual pulley. There is no reason to remove the plastic shroud over the top of the radiator as seen on other videos. It doesn't get in the way. My car had plastic covering the bottom of the radiator connected with the standard Honda clips to the front bumper you don't have to completely remove it just separate the front clips that attach to bumper and it bends back easily to access the bottom fan bolts. The main issue I had was setting the new alternator into the bottom bracket. After struggling for quite some time I noticed there are silver bushings in the lower bracket bolt holes that were causing interference. I took a long extension and placed it on the inside of the bushing and gave it some love taps and it pushed in towards the power steering pump which allowed the new alternator to slip into the bracket easily. When you install the 14 mm bottom bolt and tighten it will draw that bushing back in tight with the alternator mounting point. That is the biggest pointer I can give. I was almost to the point of filing the mounting location on the alternator to make it fit. Thank God I went back and hammered at the bushing on the bracket one last time. It will move outwards towards the power steering reservoir. Careful with the lower fan bolts mine were rusted and one snapped. You can get a solid mount with one lower bolt though and careful with that radiator, sliding crap in and out you are very close to it. Hope my issues help somebody else out. Very good video Sir, gave me the confidence to attempt this your 30 minutes took me about 3 hours though.

Thank you for posting, I used it as a guide and did mine this morning. It took me a few hours because of small mishaps so I will point some out in case others are reading and want to be ready prior to starting. First off, I have a 2012 V6 sedan and when I went underneath the car to loosen the two bolts for the fan, I realized I had no access, as there was a plastic cover attached to the same clips as the bumper openings. Taking the clips off as most people said was a pain in the butt even with the fork tool that I had. What worked for me was a flat head screw driver, you have to wiggle some of those clips to pop out the inner screw then when the head comes out you just pull the entire clips out. But you do not need to remove the entire bumper as someone else mentioned. If you get enough out, you could pull the liner done enough to be able to have access to the fan bolts. Tip: try jacking the car a bit higher than what he did it the video, he had access, and if you have a liner it would help to jack up the car from both sides. Second mishap: the two bolts on the bottom of the fan were super rusted, they actually broke off. I continued with my project and figured when I'm done I'll see what I need to do to secure it. When I was done and went back under to finish things off, I realized the fan assembly was really secure from the top, but since I didnt want it to bounce or rattle, I used super strong epoxy at the bolt and fan site to keep it bonded. Figured I don't want to put on too much in case of a future removal again. And of course I did this after doing an alternator test. There was no way in that tight space I would have been able to extract the rest of the bolts. Like I said mishap but problem solved, do try using wd40 prior to trying to remove these bolts, thats my tip for you and cover ur eyes while under there. Third mishap: taking the alternator out was a battle, definitely had to wiggle it out, but setting the new one in was interesting. Like others above mentioned (and thank you) just tap the fork bushing a little with a hammer, not too hard or too much but I spread some grease on the fork ends and on the alternator bolt housing and bam, slid right in. Fourth and final mishap was trying to get the belt on, as this was my first time playing with belts but do bring the ratchet more towards the headlight and start pushing from there to get a full slack on the belt tensioner. Dont forget if you have a v4 you are pulling, not pushing, to release tension. Many people broke there tension bolts because it was not mentioned in some videos (othet videos it was) that with a v6 you push towards the car, and v4 you pull towards you. Having said that, the belt came on when i gave more slack to push the breaker bar from way out front to the top. Any questions do ask! I got my denso reman from Rock Auto which was 140 after core and 12 month warranty. Went with denso as many recommendations and the positive reviews all over the forums and Amazon. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the step-by-step! I just replaced mine (2009 Accord coupe, automatic), but it took quite a bit longer (2-4 hours); - First time doing the job - No automatic tools - Unplugging the fan was extremely difficult. - (mostly trivial note) I had a plastic shielding underneath - I had to invoke the power of grayskull (to push against the tensioner) when trying to to remove the belt - I needed a 2nd pair of hands to put the belt back on during the installation process while I handled the tensioner The fan was by far the longest part of the removal process. I had a metal bracket that was preventing me from just reaching in and unplugging it. Comments about the fan removal: - I obviously had to unplug the fan - I (potentially optional?) removed the clip that held the power cable and ran across the bottom of the 2nd fan. - I HAD TO remove the clip that was holding the power cable to the fan. I just wanted to leave my experience here in case someone peruses the comments. Thanks again!

A couple of comments I have. (for me) The toughest part of the job was removing the power plug to the fan, that was a mother scratcher! One thing that may save a lot of time and heartache is, make sure the blue plug matches the brown socket. I bought a replacement alternator installed it only to find that the brown socket had a divider in the middle but my blue plug didn't have a slot to accomidate the divder. I had to undo what I had finished and hunt around for a correct alternator.

Super helpful! Thank you my friend. Very doable. Will give it a shot. If i'm not mistaken, the reason for many alternators failure is due to the motor oil leaks getting into the alternator. It fries the alternators when the alternator gets hot. Happened to both of my vehicles. One is the 03 lexus GS430. The other one is the 2010 Accord V6 just like this 2011 model. You may want to fix the oil leak first before replacing the Alt.

Finished this vid. Dudebro....you got a knack for this kind of content. And im sure youve gotten better in the last 4 years. Cuz im doing a 2012 honda in summer 2023. For real tho, im all over youtube and see alot of good shot and even more bad stuff and good stuff but done poorly. You got an easy to understand style, a cool and clearvoice that i never had to wonder what you were saying, and the knowledge and skill. I know for a fact it aint easy to find a niche and get paid from youtube and take that and turn it into a revenue stream. You see alot of channels just up and die but i hope you make it Nestor. Your the kind of creator this thing was made for in the beginning, a good dude passin on good info to good people that just want to learn and grow. If i had paypal id shoot ya a dub for the info but i dont. Im going to try and find a way to get you money tho bro. So when you see my name idahogreen on a payout, youll know i was serious. Keep on rowin brother, the creek widens just up ahead 🤜🏻🤛🏾

What’s going on I just replaced the alternator on my 2010 Honda Accord coupe 3.5…after replacing battery I noticed you connected a charger. As I turned the key it made a rapid clicking sound… I’m thinking of getting another battery as the car was sitting for about a month with no use. After replacing the alt should it fire up automatically? or should I connect it and start it up with a charger running?
