    Hard to find info on this Prius, thanks 🙏 If you use the all in one T connector you listed do you need SNI 35?

    No, because the harness includes a line out converter.

    For signal, low voltage, and if used correctly as they were intended to do, they will last years without issue. Problem is, most people use them incorrectly, or install them incorrectly, or pull too much amperage through them, giving them a bad name. So yes, if installed them incorrectly, they don't last more than a day.

    You just connected both channels of high to low converter into left rear speaker in parallel hence sub can receive low frequencies only from one channel.

    Correct. Most instances you will never notice a difference. If you are concerned with mono vs stereo, feel free to run speaker wire over to the other side to snag audio from the other b-pillar.

    Lol, thought u were gonna show the battery hook up in the trunk for subs. Which I hooked the power up to the side of the positive terminal(thats in route to big battery) of 12v battery and ground to bolt right below the big battery. Lets not forget too, the amp needs to be 30amp fuse or lower from what crutchfield said.

  • @JasonWW2000

    @JasonWW2000

    This amp has a built in 15A fuse. This protects the amp. You need a second fuse by the battery to protect the wire. I would go 15A or 20A at most. Depending on where the wire got shorted at a 30A might be fine, but lower is better.

    Excellent video! I have a Prius hatchback, JBL version and have a question. Can I tap into the rear door speaker the same way you did in this video and add the LOC? It's hooked up and sounds good, but cuts in and out. Might have to do with the JBL amp. (I did tap into the wires there.) I did purchase the Add A Circuit via your link, as well.

    I would try running the speaker wires into the high level inputs. A lot of factory radios have dc offset which will provide a turn on signal.

    Weird question but is there a certain wattage that the prius can't handle, I'm familiar with a regular car where the alternator puts out let's say 150amps, and the wattage it can support is around 2000 watts, I'm looking to install 2 12's or one 15 inch sub and a 2000w rms amp but im unsure if the prius's 12V system charges enough for that certain load

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    All depends on how quickly the battery discharges and is recharged by the onboard inverter. Generally the that inverter is rated on an amp output as well, so you'd have to do research to see what the max charging output your specific year and trim prius provides.

    I just had my entire system stop working while driving. I bought the 2012 Prius less than a week ago, the front woofers were already blown when I bought the car and it seems the factory amp has just now blown. It has the JBL Greentech system, which is looking like a nightmare to fully upgrade AMP and all. If I find anything out in my journey I'll stop back and let you know. My best guess is the part of your amplifier that controls those rear woofers might've flown south. Check that your wires are in good condition, shake them a tad with a song on and see if the rears kick in.

    @@evergreenclassics1272 I'll bet money it's the amp giving up the ghost. I haven't had any luck sorting out how to replace the system and maintain all the stock volume controls. We might have to buy stock amps on eBay or from the dealer to get the audio back 😭

    I just bought a 2024 Honda. Accord hybrid sport and this is my first hybrid. I want to hook up my 2 12 inch subwoofers an app rated at 1200 W. Is it safe to hook this up in a hybrid car?

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    It's hard to say, especially if your accord doesn't have a traditional alternator. If it has just a high voltage to 12v DC converter to charge your battery, it may not be enough, and you may either need to upgrade your battery or supplement it with more 12v batteries. In most circumstances, that DC converter usually puts out between 30-50 amps max.

    @Provo Beast Audio Installation also wanted to mention my recent experience....the set up in this video is completely fine and worked great for me for months. But after i installed an aftermarket head unit. My stock door speakers...and my sub woofer had much much better sound quality. Just A heads up for anyone looking to improve sound quality....it may be good to add a head unit first. But then again. Those are little more annoying to get to, and work with.

    What amp would you recommend to replace my current jbl amp in my 2013 Prius? My current amp is the 86280-0WA51

  • @JasonWW2000

    @JasonWW2000

    Жыл бұрын

    This will be difficult. The factory amp is also a dsp with factory EQ curves built in. If you remove it you lose all that processing. Unless the amp is damaged, I'd leave it and run its high level outputs to a bigger amp. If you wanted to remove the factory amp you might need a Kicker KeyLoc to help unprocess the signals and get you back to a traditional stereo signal. This is assuming there is an analog signal going to the factory amp. If its a digital signal you'd need the factory amp. I'd recommend looking at Crutchfield to see what adapter harnesses are available for your specific vehicle. This might simplify things greatly.

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    JBL amplifier is factory tuned, so no you can't make adjustments to the factory amplifier. More power and louder performance would be to replace the amplifier.

    I have a pioneer AVH-P2000B head unit. From what I've done just tuning the head unit, it gets plenty loud. Door mirrors vibrate a fair amount for factory door speakers. (I have the JBL system)

    Another option is to swap more efficient speakers in. This allows to to be louder on the same power.

    Why do you need to run a wire directly to the battery, when you can use an add a circuit?

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    Жыл бұрын

    All depends on how many amps you will be pulling with your amplifier. In most cases, the factory fuse box wont handle that amperage and any additional load there may cause electrical issues. For aftermarket amplifiers, it's always recommended to run a power wire directly to the battery.

  • @JasonWW2000

    @JasonWW2000

    For small 15A loads you should be just fine adding a power wire to the fuse block input. Its definitely easier than drilling through the firewall, but on this vehicle its so easy to go straight from the battery.

    Its actually more work to pull the dash apart to install the radio plug. What they did in this video is practically the same as the radio plug, except they tapped into an easier to get set of wires.
