You can remove the fuel line without fully removing the tank, but I did it for filming purposes.

    Thinking about doing the same thing yo my R6 but thinking about adding a filter in between.. instead of cutting the ends of fuel fittings like you did ill try putting the hose in boiling water first to see if it will slip over. Thank you for the video.

    I might be worried about the filter after the pump either getting clogged and burning out the pump or limiting the pump and making your bike run lean.

    @@MoneyisanIllusion I'll look into that. I didn't think about that it would make it run lean.

    Oh yea I see what you are talking about now. I also did ask the seller if he lowered the bike at all when I was buying it and he said no. I thought it felt lower than the 05 R1 I tested. As far as handling it feels great. Enough that I never thought about changing it I guess. I have only ridden this bike like 600 miles in 3 years.

    my 14 model started surging in 2nd and 3rd gear. after maybe about 5000rpm. I pulled over and let the bike cool down. And then it just went away. but scared the hell out of me on the highway.. I just dont know whats going on and im thinking maybe its this. otherwise do you have any ideas?

    You could just pull up the tank and have a look at the hose. The only symptom mine had was it wouldn’t rev over 10,000 so when I was riding it full out acceleration it would go to the 10,000 and feel like the clutch was slipping when in reality the engine was starving for fuel.

    Where the fuel line connects to the tank, did you route it angled to the front of the bike or route it going towards the back of the bike?

    Before you did the fuel line mod, did you find that your bike had a poor idle when it was hot?

  • @MoneyisanIllusion

    @MoneyisanIllusion

    Ай бұрын

    It didn’t idle poorly. It wouldn’t rev over 10,000. The bike was overheating in stop and go traffic like if I was under 20 mph for a while probably because the mix was so lean. It really just felt like a bad clutch when it first started. Quickly it became so bad that I noticed it wasn’t the clutch. It felt like the bike had a 10,000 rpm governor.

    I just looked up a Yamaha 2005 fuel line on eBay to see what it looks like. It is printed on the side do not kink. You could lift your tank and check to see if it’s kinked. I just heard of it being a problem on the 09-14.
