WhiteSlift Bit late.. 3 years but yeah.. I guess its so there is the least amount of light possible inside the car at night, it happens in my Yaris too. Dims everytime you turn the lights on.

2.0 is quicker but 1.4 has really good fuel consumption

I bought a 2008 model 2 years ago, been running absolutely fine. Original engine, transmission no knocks or noises, shifts perfectly and my local mechanic during the service has said it's in great shape and one of the cars that he rarely gets in for repair (which is a good thing!)
