2008 Kia Timing Belt 2 7L motor1

2007 Kia with 2.7 engine at about 166,000 miles; timing belt replacement.
Also, not mentioned in the video is that I replaced the Water Pump, Hydraulic Tensioner, and two other idle pulleys. I also replaced the original alternator since there is not much space to work. NOTE If you are going to go to the trouble of replacing the belt, replace the other stuff, especially if you are paying for labor. Your new belt, according to others will suffer shorter service life if you merely replace the belt according to my research.

i replaced mine at 122k original owner. It looked fine, but who knows. But I replaced the tensioner also, I installed mine and pulled the pin which uncorked the tensioner. Then I had to take it back out. If you have to take out the tensioner, put it in a vise and compress the button SLOWLY. Then put a pin in the hole, or a drill bit to hold it in.

Smails in Greensburg . I am from that part of the woods too. Just replaced the alternator, tensioner, and belt, and I had to pull out the entire RF suspension like you have. 110K miles for me, and I think the work is worth it for how could she has been to me, but this could be something I could pay someone for.

Understood. I fix the things that I can and farm out what I can't. The Kia in question is on blocks at this time but I did score a 2007 Rondo in 2019 since the 2008 is in essence a parts car. I had to retire it because of engine issues (not related to my past repairs) I think it just give up the ghost. Any part on te 08 will fit my 07. Anyway, while it's nice you subscribed, as you can see,I'm not a super KZread content maker. Have a nice week.

How did you install the pin into the hydraulic device? The same pin which you later removed to reapply tension to the tensioning arm?

Sister just got this car and as soon as I saw the black cover I told her "save up some money and get the timing belt done"

Boostang, if your sister is going to go to the expense of changing the timing belt-Kia recommends at 60,000 miles or every 48 months- she should go ahead and replace the various pullies and water pump which are under the plastic covers on the passenger side of the engine.

@@tonylwright To my knowledge, it ead the original timing belt. We bought the car in spring of 2013. Thete were no tooling marks on any of the nut/bolts that were visible, indicating that somebody had teplaced the belt prior to our purchasing it used. Really, when you think about it, most people never give a timing bt any thought untill it breaks and the motor is forever screwed. I think kia recommende timing belt replacement every 75 k but dont hold me to that. For as expensive as a belt replacement would be every 75k, due to the labor (parts are the cheaper than labor in this case) people balk at the idea.

Well, I was prompted to change the belt when I did read about what you cited. The belt I removed was actually in very good shape none the less.

Sorry for the delay in response to your question. Yes, the vehicle in the vid is my 2008 kia Rondo but the same engine has been used in other Kia and Hyundai models.

What was the problem with the old belt

Actually, the timing belt was in good shape, visually but it's recommended to change them out between 60-100k. It's possible that it could have been changed prior to my purchase in 2013 but there were no tool wear marks on any of the bolts I removed. If the belt were to break while under power, it would be more expensive. I am including two links to better explain the importance of changing the timing belt. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaWCj5mxh7bgdKQ.html AND kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5yczcOEgMu0dso.html

@@jasonmeyers9413 Please consider first that I am NOT a mechanic by trade but merely a DIY vehicle owner who works on my own stuff. I did a lot of talking with the local mechanic and the guys at a Kia dealership. AND, I did have to sift though several vids online. You have to get the everything in time. If your marks on the cam gears and the crank gears are not in perfect alignment the engine will certainly not run properly if at all and most likely damage the engine. The marks you need yo align are marked on the and it's advisable to dap some white nail polish or paint to see them clearly. I am sure you can fin a local mechanic to give you advice better then my rudimentary understandings.

I'm glad or at least hopeful that there is a transcript of all that you said in the video. Lots of fast running together words and phrases almost unintelligible as if you were having trouble breathing. In addition a bit of mumbled words trailing off at the end of a sentence or two. Something about KIA and Pennsylvania mumbled. Thanks for the information but I will not be subscribing.
