2008 Jeep Liberty - PCV Valve Replacement

PCV valve and hose to intake manifold replacement on my 2008 Jeep Liberty KK. 3.7 Liter V6 Engine. I couldn’t find a good video on this, so I made one. I’m no mechanic. They say this is the same valve on the 2007-2012 Model year Liberty.
Parts:
PCV Valve: Mopar 53034065AA PCV Valve
Hose: PCV Valve To Intake Manifold Hose - Mopar (53032993AF)
Video showing the air leak in hose that got me looking into this: • Jeep Liberty/3.7/ nois...

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. The P0507 code came up and I changed the valve but if I didn't watch this first I wouldn't have been prepared. Seeing the rubber elbows would tear off so easily saved me a trip. Finding that hose was impossible on a Sunday so I used 2 ft of tubing $4.00 ($36 for the hard to find hose part) & ran it against the firewall. The elbows are easier to find than the plastic hose if your sure the problem is with the rubber elbows.

A huge thank you for this video. I have a 08 Liberty limited and my hose busted in the bend of the hose. I taped it up with electrical tape until I can afford to buy replacement parts. It’s worked for a little while but now my entire vehicle is jumping around and a mechanic said it was bcz of the hose. Should I replace the valve too? Someone said Jeep lists it as a maintenance part that needs to be replaced every 50,000 miles. Again thanks for the video

I’m not a mechanic, but it was relatively inexpensive, so I replaced the valve too. I’m sure mine hadn’t been done in all 130k+ miles.

Great vid thanks so much! I was wondering do you happen to know how many foot pounds this needs to be torqued down to (the PCV value)? Or is hand tightening sufficient?

@@swatscorner BE CAREFUL!!! There is no torque spec that I was able to find in the Hanes manual, it just reads "tighten until secure". In my mind that means "bottom it out and give a little extra twist for good measure". Well, don't make the mistake that I did: I kept wrenching and wrenching waiting for the d@mn thing to hit bottom and it just NEVER did. It got a *little* tighter, but nothing that made me think, "yep, here's the bottom". Well, notice that the PCV valve is tapered at the top of the treads, not flat. So, yeah... I ended up cracking my cylinder head with hardly any effort. Also, all the d@mn sealant tape peeled off as I was threading the thing in. There really should be better instructions out there. Simple job turned into a nightmare.
