I have a question. I'm doing the same JOB on a 2008 G35. I have the left ignition cam on time, but the right cam won't aline into time, just the chain, and it alligns perfect to the seal you pointed to. Now my left ignition cam aligns perfect to the engine DOT with the chain. The right is on the direction you pointed to, but the left in the direction of ALL DATA!. am I still here in time, or do I need to get both in the same direction? Facing the DOT or the Seal? Pls get back to me as this is a very tedious job and patience, I have a lot because I love what I do. I've done a lot of American and European cars, but this baby is giving some issues. Any advice will help. Thank you kindly. - Daniel.

Last week i was laughing at ford ecoboodt v6 in SUVs having a waterpump in the engine block and the catastrophic failures it made.. Now i learn my g37 is made the same.. Better start doing a coolant flush every 5 years boys !!

Honestly companies make things broke easily Doesn’t matter how often you get coolant flush But of course it’s good to have good quality and recommended coolant and flush it …

When water pump goes bad it starts leaking by timing cover ( there is a hole for it and leaks from there ) as soon as you put new water pump and new gasket ( new gaskets comes with it ) if you don’t damage it you not gonna have leak anymore till water goes bad again !

Your timing marks are off!!! See how the E on the exhaust gears are upside down? R & L are upside down on the intake gears? On the exhaust cam gears, the dowels should be pointing up (yours are pointing down). The exhaust gear on the drivers side; orange marks on the chain must line up with the double elongated marks on the gear. The exhaust gear on the passenger side; orange marks on the chain must line up with the double dot marks on the gear. On the main chain, the yellow chain links line up with the dots on the crank and intake gears. Maybe if you take it apart incorrectly, and re-install everything exactly incorrectly, it'll work out. I wouldn't take that chance however.

Change the gallery gaskets while you're in there and get the updated composite metal gaskets and get rid of the Philips screws in favor of hex drives screws that should be torqued to 11 pounds with blue Loctite so they don't back out.

if you remove the water pump without loosening chain tensioner would it come off timing? one of my techs did this job and i think he just took the pump out without loosening anything and put back a new one. he was under the assumption that if he didn’t move the chain and put it back exactly as it was he wouldn’t have to redo the timing. i’m not a tech. so i can’t confirm

Just replaced a water pump on a 2011 g37 with an original Nissan part and it running out the weep hole worse than the original, the car has 113,000 miles! Anybody had this failure twice? Followed the video perfectly. I'm thinking the thermostat might be sticking, Though there's no indication of over heating. We have to add coolant mix after nearly every trip to the store.

Lol don't be scared, just buy one with good service history. If they haven't changed their coolant in 10 years, then high chance the water pump is rotting away. if you think this is bad, you should be worried about the galley gasket. that one is worse labor. happens from prolonged oil changes when the oil gets acidic, and also from full throttle all the time maxing out oil psi throughout entire system good cars tho. I've seen them go 190k miles with zero engine & accessory problems, only radiator replacement.

  • @RzVids

hostilityy How is that more labor when it’s literally right next to the galley gasket. It’s relatively the same amount of work/time. The timing chains have to be removed and you’d have access to both.
