Had a very slow coolant loss in my 2005 V6. Finally found micro crack in side of radiator. Apparently been there for years. I installed new radiator. Problem solved for radiator. BUT... the smell of coolant persisted. For 3 weeks I could still smell anitfreeze. I'm still loosing coolant. About 1 to 2 quarts a month. Can't find leak anywhere. No drips. Nothing. I'm thinking with the mustang being 18 years old, it's probably the Heater Core. I watched your video. A lot of wisdom there. I'm going to check and replace all hoses as necessary. If that's not enough, I plan to detach hoses from heater core and couple them together bypassing the heater core, then rinse/flush the heater core and purge water with air hose best I can. If the heater core is leaking - this should stop the leak by taking the heater core out of the loop. Either way, probably need to just go ahead and replace the heater core. It's old and will leak sooner or later if not already leaking. I had feared the entire dash and steering column would have to be removed in order to service the heater core. Changing out the heater core sounds as much fun as eating a gallon of chili & jalapenos with a gallon of voodka and a hand full of sleeping pills. Either way it's gonna be a mess. Can the O rings be replaced if they are leaking without pulling and/or replacing the entire core and housing?
