2007 Lexus LX 470 BEST EVER!

Today we'll talk about why the Lexus LX 470 is the best heavy use SUV ever made. The 2007 Lexus LX470 is he last of the 100 series and the last with the manual transfer case sold in the USA. This allows this vehicle to be flat towed behind a motorhome with the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in park with the key in the ignition (not turned).

I have a 2003 Land Cruiser, the Toyota twin of the LX470. They are well-built vehicles. I live in Arizona, and mine lived its whole life here, so it's rust free. I had to swap out the engine. The previous owner overheated the original engine badly, and I found a nice low mileage engine for it. It took me 18 hours of steady work to replace the engine. It's been rock solid since. You can put the transfer car in neutral, but I would put the transmission into neutral too, not park when flat-towing. In Park, if for some reason, the truck got the transfer case bumped back into gear, it would be a bad day if it was in Park. They get a horse power bump because it went to VVT (Variable Valve Timing). They do not get better gas mileage because of the engine. The 2003 and forward LX470/LC100 get better milage because they went to a 5 speed over drive transmission. The VVT and non-VVT get the same mileage more or less. You can expect to get 15ish MPG. Mine did not have the hydraulic suspension. If your LX470 has the hydraulic suspension fails, you can convert it to normal non hydraulic. The hydraulic system can be very expensive to repair when they fail, and there's is no good reason to have that hydraulic suspension. The clip you inserted from the car car nut is from an LC200. So much of it doesn't really apply. The 5.7 and 4.7 V8s are completely different animals. The 4.7 in the Sequoia and Tundra is, in fact, virtually the same as in the Land Cruiser. Only the oil pan and exhaust headers are different and can be swapped. The 5.7 I don't have any experience with, but I have a lot of personal experience with the 4.7... anyway, I can go on, but I just leave it here. I think you will enjoy the LX470. They are good.

The car care nut also talks about the 4.7. He believes the build quality is better than other Toyota vehicles. He talks about that in some detail. Including the fact that the water pumps don’t tend to fail. As far as the hydraulic suspension goes. I do believe it has better ride quality. I plan on keeping mine properly maintained. Hopefully it will hold up and last a long time. I don’t mind replacing components as needed.
