Great video for whoever is looking into one of these. As an Ody aficionado this a great entry video for Gen 3. A few things I will like to complement to the video. 1) 07-10 has a better/tougher transmission (Ridgeline tranny) than 05-06 and earlier 07. 2) EX-L and touring came with VCM. Variable Cylinder Management (ECO LIGHT) this system destroys the engine, to disable it get a vcm Muzzler and ECO won't come up keeping the engine healthy. Luckily LX and EX didn't get VCM. 3) Check for timing belt replacement (Aisin kit is the most recommended). Every 7-10 years or 100k. 4) Belt tensioner is an Achilles heel on the J series, if you hear a knocking noise while cold and goes away when warm.... don't drive and check the tensioner. Broken belt while driving = dead engine. 5) Touring comes with run flat, really expensive and hard to find, get some EX-L wheels and call it a day.

@@MX-CO sure u have an ex?...LX and EX don't have VCM....EX-L and touring 06 are the only ones with VCM for our generation. For Gen 3 only trim EX-L and Touring came with VCM. Check the engine cover...it should say VCM on it.

My mom had a 2004 from 2007 to 2012. It was totaled after an accident in 2012. My family now has a 2015 Sienna. I have to say Odyssey and Sienna are both 100% top of the chain for their body type

My family had a 2006 green (the weird silver looking shade) Honda Odyssey Touring. I practically grew up in that thing and we went on long trips to New Mexico, Louisiana, Florida, and back and fourth from Houston to Dallas. Selling it was our biggest mistake as the trips in our Model 3 and Audi Q3 were not comfortable after that. But hey, at least gas isn't a problem. Edit: The coolest thing I ever thought the van possessed was the CD player that was hidden behind the navigation screen. It was rare to see my parents use it as they only used it to play a recording of the Rosary, but it was still pretty rad.

I have a 2007 Odyssey, and it’s not “before the time of big screens.” You just have a lower trim. Mine has parking sensors, back up camera, and a big ass navigation screen from factory. It’s the touring model, top of the line lol! I think, the only thing it doesn’t have is AWD. You’re right though about the cup holders, they suck!

Great Van! I bought a 2007 in 2021 which I use as my daily. Other cars include .......well, other cars😂. I didn't mess with the VCM since I already had high miles (over 200,000). I now have 280,000. Only issues so far are 1. Sticking sliding door (Get them lubricated with WD 40) and open them often. 2. The J series engine is s plenty powerful but can develop oil leaks due to the gasket going bad. 3. So far I've had no issues with the VCM/Eco mode. 4. Timing belt changed with water pump since it's an interference engine. I used the aisin kit. 5. Transmission on the 07 is robust with no issues so far . I would recommend the drain & fill method instead of the flush. 6. The engine surprisingly sounds great when revved. Dare I say almost sporty

  • @EagleArrow

We have a 2004 Dodge Durango we bought in 2005 that has a nice, comfortable. roomy 3rd row. Folds down as well. It is still a nice SUV. Held up well. Gas hog, but we use it for short trips, fishing, baseball, hardware store. It does drive nice on long trips we have taken. We added a gps/media/back up camera tablet. The cup holders pass, your thermos is too big, and has a tight cap on it you can put in a cubby. No Mom uses a thermos like that for in the car use. They use those on hikes or kids use at sports events. They get thrown in the back. 😏😄 We kept the Durango as when we were looking to get a Odyssey about ten years ago, I told one Mom then noticed a month later every Mom I knew had a new Odyssey in our neighborhood. So, my husband bought the Toyota Avalon Hybrid and I bought a slightly used Mercedes E320 and we kept our Durango to use with our 3 kids. 😄 We still drive all three. Avalon and Mercedes have been the best cars we have owned. Avalon is a smooth, luxury ride for long trips. Durango can be pricey for tires, gas and maintenance. But it still drives like new. Leather is like new. Good sturdy leather. We live in the south, so our cars last longer if maintained. Now, today many neighbor kids are grown, many neighbors moved, we have the youngest at home and not one Odyssey around me in the neighborhood. So now I'm looking again at Odyssey for trips as our Avalon is 11 years old, drives like new but has 275,000 miles. 😏
