    I’m changing the radiator on my 13’ Silverado 4.8L this weekend. Your video has given me the confidence to do this! Thanks brother!! Looks like I have the same leak, the plastic part on the driver’s side. After I get the old radiator out; could I take a hose and run water thru the truck, putting the hose in the top driver’s side hose and hopefully it drains from the bottom hose (The one that goes into the thermostat)?? I want to get all the gunk, crap and this radiator fix I used (Bar’s Leaks Pelletized Formula) out of the truck, before I put the new one in. I hope that made sense. Thanks again for the awesome videos! I’ve watched several of yours, learning how to fix and work on my truck.

    Ya that’s a good way to clean it out, I’ve done that a couple of times on used vehicles that have been neglected from the previous owner. I’d just run water throw the top hose or even the thermostat housing itself when too hose is off until I see a clear stream of water flowing through.

    Awesome video. I have a 2011 that I’m putting a new radiator in this weekend and this video gave me all the confidence i need to replace it. Do you think its worth it to replace the thermostat while the radiator is out and the coolant system is empty? Or go with the idea that if it aint broke. Dont fix it?

    Can you smell coolant? My leak wasn’t visible until I performed a coolant pressure test (which you can rent at your local auto parts store) I was able to pin point it to the radiator which was leaking internally between the fins.

    I ee your truck is a gas engine. What is up with the transmission after all of the work? I went to the dealer today to get a new coolant tank pressure cap. He handed me a 20 psi cap; I stated my present one is a 15 psi cap. He checked again right p/n same 20 psi cap as called for by GM. Hmmm

  • @mikef6706

    @mikef6706

    Cool I never used gmpartsdirect.com with a parts search by vin number. When I did this it brought up the 20 psi cap NOT the 15 psi cap as presently in the truck. I have owned the truck since 35K miles and that what was on it when I purchased it. Maybe this is one of the reasons I have high engine temps as soon as I encounter a moderate grade when towing only 9K#’s. Truck now has 101.5K on the odometer. I always had a ECT issue when towing grades. Truck is rated to pull 15,400#’s.
