Thanks for the video. I just ordered a new radiator for my 2010. Leaking in the same spot so I’ll be putting in an all aluminum one to prevent future leaks hopefully.
This is the BEST beginning to end instructions video l have come across in KZread. Dude! you were amazingly knowledgeable, patient and funny. I would certainly encourage you start your own automotive video library; $$$$.

Ive Been down this road!! My Engine in my HUMMER Overheated 🥵 on me 3mo. Ago due to bad head gaskets! I put a bandaid on it to temporarily keep it going with BARS HeadGasket sealant but it didnt last long! I said 🤬 IT!! went ahead and Replaced the Hoses, Thermostat, Water Pump, and swapped the Entire 6.0 Engine with a Fresh New Remanufactured Engine ($3800 🤦🏾♂️) Runs Beautifully Now! Thank You Victor I usually don’t get compliments like this often I really do appreciate the kind words and hope this video brought value. Im finally getting back to editing videos again, so this motivates me even more.
Hey thanks so why do you do new transmission line do they get clogged up? Doing my install next few days thank you
Also, what about your transmission fluid levels? Did you have to add trans fluid as well since some was lost in your old radiator?
Thank you buddy

You saved me a lot of money… need to do a video on w-clips for the metal lines that connect to the radiator
I’m changing the radiator on my 13’ Silverado 4.8L this weekend. Your video has given me the confidence to do this! Thanks brother!! Looks like I have the same leak, the plastic part on the driver’s side. After I get the old radiator out; could I take a hose and run water thru the truck, putting the hose in the top driver’s side hose and hopefully it drains from the bottom hose (The one that goes into the thermostat)?? I want to get all the gunk, crap and this radiator fix I used (Bar’s Leaks Pelletized Formula) out of the truck, before I put the new one in. I hope that made sense. Thanks again for the awesome videos! I’ve watched several of yours, learning how to fix and work on my truck.

Ya that’s a good way to clean it out, I’ve done that a couple of times on used vehicles that have been neglected from the previous owner. I’d just run water throw the top hose or even the thermostat housing itself when too hose is off until I see a clear stream of water flowing through.
Awesome video. I have a 2011 that I’m putting a new radiator in this weekend and this video gave me all the confidence i need to replace it. Do you think its worth it to replace the thermostat while the radiator is out and the coolant system is empty? Or go with the idea that if it aint broke. Dont fix it?
I gotta replace my radiator on my 13. Did you have to disconnect the battery at all just in case the coolant fans don’t turn on by any stupid chance?
Nice Truck and Great Video. I have the Same truck and have been experiencing high transmission temps. We’re you experiencing the same ? Is this what you decided to change? Thank you

@@JohnPonce thank you for the response. I have 119k but just purchased the truck used a few months back. It doesn’t look like the coolant was ever changed so will start there. I do feel that I may just want to replace radiator while I’m at it and start fresh so I know the age of everything. Thanks again! Cheers🍻
whats the part number on the new radiator?
Hey great vid, I've got an 2009 Sierra which sometimes steam comes from the radiator area, the coolant levels are good and temp on the dash stays at normal Temp. I've looked everywhere and I can't see a leak. Got any ideas?

Can you smell coolant? My leak wasn’t visible until I performed a coolant pressure test (which you can rent at your local auto parts store) I was able to pin point it to the radiator which was leaking internally between the fins.

@@JohnPonce I don't smell coolant, does the coolant pressure test get higher pressure than when the truck is running?
@JohnPonce
Жыл бұрын
@@larsonny77 no you should only pump what is rated on your radiator cap, you can also test your cap to see if it’s doing it’s job as well
How hot did it get mine gets past 210 about a 1/4 past. Hope I dint fu#% it up. She’s still running but I can tell a lifter is probably shot. Cylinder #6 to be exact
Do you by any chance have a link to where this radiator was purchased?

Hi Jhon Can you let me know what’s the smaller radiator that’s in front of regular radiator called?

I think your talking about the AC condenser
Should have gone with a pretty Mishimoto. $$ but they're fire. Around 50% more capacity too.
I didn't see you change the thermostat 🤷🏻♀️ any reason why ??? That is part of yr water flow isn't it ???
@JohnPonce

If you havnt already YES now would also be a good time to change thermostat and change hoses if their showing their age or signs of replacement. I’m pretty sure I had replaced the thermostat recently, but it was so long ago I don’t remember honestly.

What is your coolant tank pressure cap rating? psi

I ee your truck is a gas engine. What is up with the transmission after all of the work? I went to the dealer today to get a new coolant tank pressure cap. He handed me a 20 psi cap; I stated my present one is a 15 psi cap. He checked again right p/n same 20 psi cap as called for by GM. Hmmm
@mikef6706

Cool I never used gmpartsdirect.com with a parts search by vin number. When I did this it brought up the 20 psi cap NOT the 15 psi cap as presently in the truck. I have owned the truck since 35K miles and that what was on it when I purchased it. Maybe this is one of the reasons I have high engine temps as soon as I encounter a moderate grade when towing only 9K#’s. Truck now has 101.5K on the odometer. I always had a ECT issue when towing grades. Truck is rated to pull 15,400#’s.
Is it possible just to replace the plastic part where it was leaking if the radiator still looks good? And what brand of radiator did you get?
After you filled it up the first time? And it emptied out it self after adding all the new parts does it over heat again? Or do you Just have to keep an eye out so you can fill her up one and last time?
Why did u get rid of coolant lines on driver side?

You should consider putting a 160f thermostat in. Truck will automatically start to run cooler

about to replace my son’s radiator tomorrow. i’ve replaced plenty of radiators on the 99-06 models but was just checking to see if they were different on this year model but they seem to be essentially the same except the trans cooler line brackets that are mounted to the efan.
Be careful with them cooler lines. It is impossible to get any new lines on these trucks any more.

I assume he replaced his lines, because I never take them completely out of the truck to just change a radiator.
