Just discovered that you can use the key to unlock the trunk after you have manually switched the spring mechanism as shown in the beginning of the video. You only need to manually switch the mechanism once, then close the trunk. Next, use the key, not the clicker, to open the trunk. Now you can close the truck without having to manually switch the mechanism each time. This video is super helpful, and saved me an expensive dealership repair. Many thanks!

Thank you so much for doing this video. It helped tremendously! I used the Amazon link to purchase the part and I replaced it in 5 minutes. Now it works like new!! Before I found your video I put two 25lb weights in a bag on top to keep it from opening. You helped me keep peace as well because my wife was not happy about how it looked in front of our house lol…😂

Thank you for sharing this video. Was able to purchase the part on Amazon for $20 and replaced it within 15 minutes. The replacement part I had didn’t require the full cap to come off. It folded by the latch area with enough room to screw the bolts on/off.

FWIW I had the same issue and it was the emergency pull latch was pulled so that could be the issue too

I have the same problem. However, I found out that if I manually pull the trunk lever from inside the car the trunk will always close. I stopped using the remote to unlock the trunk.

Yeah I noticed the same. If I pull it from inside the car it's fine. Update Oct 2022: It stopped catching completely and the part had to be replaced 🥲 lol
