Gators are now one of 3 schools to have a ring in the big 3. When O'Sullivan wins another in baseball Florida will be the only school with multiple titles in each of the 3.

@@malachiclark6810 well the championship game was in 07 but yes more appropriately put both were in the 06 season but basketball has a pretty strong overlap.

@@malachiclark6810 factually the national championship was played January 8th of 2007 for the 2006 season. We won both championships within 3 months.

Steve Spurrier was the rock of Florida Football. Billy Donovan was the rock of Florida Basketball.

They all were sophomores too. That recruiting class wqsnt even top 10 coming in 2004 but left with 2 national championships smh that goes to show u highschool rankings hardly mean anything once first day of freshman year starts

They were all sophomores, roommates, best of friends. Florida is the only team after 1970 to win a title in football🏈 and basketball 🏀. Only team to win a football 🏈 and a basketball 🏀 championships in the same school year. Only team to win with every starter returning. Last team to win back-to-back. Three players had semi-famous sports fathers. Yonnick Noah in tennis, Tito Horford and Sidney Green in basketball.

What the Gators did for those two seasons was legendary winning back to back national titles isn't easy. Noah, green, brewer, and horford what a talented team the gators had

Remember that all those guys you just mentioned was Sophomores. Humphrey was a Junior. So Noah asked him to stay his Senior Year and run it back.

UCLA had some good players this year too. Jordan Farmar, Ryan Hollins, Darren Collison, Luc Richard Mbah Moute, Aaron Afflalo....

Amazing Since 1970 no NCAA team has won National Championships in Football or Basketball, except....the Florida Gators. The Gators who has won 3 in football and 2 in basketball. The Gators are the only team to win the football and basketball championships in the same year.

Florida had traveled a LONG journey to get here. Other than a surprise 2000 Final Four, this team had been always known for March pratfalls- Creighton, Manhattan, Temple, blown out on basically their home turf by Michigan State. And some people forget that they were on the wrong end of GONZAGA, THE SLIPPER STILL FITS IN '99. Hell, they had a lead with less than 20 seconds left before a traveling call.

Best word to describe this team: Selfless. That's what made them fun to watch.

They said this team was untalented. It was just a fluke. "College basketball was down" because Florida won a title. Look at where these guys are now. Joakim is the heart of Chicago post Jordan outshining Derrick "I broke a nail" Rose. Hordord is an all star. Look at all the players Donovan has put in the NBA. Parsons etc.

Corey Brewer and Maurice Speights. Bradley Beal, Mike Miller, Undonis Haslem, Matt Bonner, Nick Calalthes and David Lee. Billy Donovan turned a Football School in to a Basketball Powerhouse.

The only problems were that 1) Football is always #1 at Florida. Coach Mac easily got an indoor facility while Billy couldn't get a new one. 2) Kentucky is to College Basketball in the SEC what Alabama is to College Football in the SEC. The Measuring stick of all teams in the conference. 8 times out of 10 Billy couldn't measure up. Especially, in the later years against Callipari and Kentucky. Tubby Smith has a winning record against Billy D. But this Class is the Class of Florida Basketball. The 04s! The most happiest time to be a fan of Florida Basketball.

Looking back at this game, this was a deep UCLA team

Do you happen to have the highlights of the Florida vs Georgetown and Florida vs Villanova games from that same tournament? Those two games proved The Gators could win a close game in the tournament, especially the Georgetown Game, that one came down to the wire.

You already knew Florida was going to win it all because they eliminated Georgetown and Villanova.That is clutch right there.UCLA fell victim to Florida too.

I thought UCLA was going to win the national championship seeing what they did to Adam Morrison and Gonzaga.I was way off in that game.Its all good because Florida has not one any since those back to back championship seasons.

Lee Humphrey's free throw form is embarrassing, being that he's such a great 3pt shooter.
