I now have a 2007 Mazda Miata MX-5. Your video will help me, big time! Thanks
Thank you, best video on KZread for this Miata model with the rear drains clogged.
I don't have the soft top model, but I remember reading that you should only feed the trombone brush from top to bottom (as you do in the video) else you will damage the one-way flap. For example, on feeding the brush from the top, and then seeing the brush come out the bottom, don't pull it back to the top. Only one direction: from the top pushing down.
you don't need to take the entire car apart. I have a 2006 Miata and all I do is put the trombone cleaner in the hole under the car, push it up until it loosens the clog, then pull it out. do it once or twice a year. If I don't do this every year my car floods with a hard rain.
Wow. What u don’t know can hurt you. Thanks so much for this vid. I just got an 06 grand touring. Getting the timing belt and tensioner replaced but this is the next task on the list

You do know these cars DON'T HAVE TIMING BELTS right????? That belt is just the drive belt that runs the accessories like alternator, power steering pump and AC compressor.
Great video, thanks!

Thanks anonymous stranger!
pretty sure you can disassemble the drain hose. if i remember correctly, just take the seatbelt off and right behind it sits the tubes. much cleaner and you reduce the risk of getting the noise lips stuck open
Thought you mentioned in the video you were going to post a video of the assembly
I'm guessing I don't have this issue on my wife's 2007 PRHT ????? ;-P

That car has a different style, but there are still drain holes. To get to those though you have to cut a little plastic screen that sits over them. They are a secondary setup as the hard top tries to seal the car completely, but if that seal wears out mazda put a similar system that mine and other soft tops have as a secondary water backup and they can also clog over time!

@@nickerbocker1382 Thanks for the heads up. The car only sees water at bath time, but I'll check them out.

@@nickerbocker1382 That's how I understand it too. I was also thinking the drain system is for when you get caught in the rain with the top down.
